I have been trying to find out what hours constitute Evenings and Weekends?
    Does anybody else know?

    Peak: Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm. Off-peak: Monday - Friday 6pm - 7.59am. Weekend: Friday 12 am - Sunday 12 am.

It's right at the bottom of this Just Dialwebpage.

I queried with Just-Dial as to the exact times meant by "evenings and weekend" as I hadn't found it on the site and eventually was informed "evening 6pm - 8am and weekend Midnight Friday - Midnight Sunday".

Because of this, I made the reasonable (to me anyway) assumption that as there appeared to be an overlap from the Friday evening time through the weekend to Monday morning that you will get free calls from Friday 6pm - Monday 8am.

Not so according to Just-Dial. Here are direct cut/paste comments from them.

    >>>>>>> The timings are as follows:

    Evening - Monday (6pm) to Tuesday (8am),
    Tuesday (6pm) to Wednesday (8am),
    Wednesday (6pm) to Thursday (8am),
    Thursday (6pm) to Friday (8am).

    Weekend - Friday (12.00 midnight) to Sunday (12.00 midnight).<<<<<<<

    and more importantly

    >>>>>>>>>The calls from Friday 8am until 11.59pm are charged. <<<<<<<

I feel that people could easily get caught out by this. I certainly would have been.

I'm also assuming that you'll be charged early Monday morning as well even if you think you're covered until 8am.

These quotes also seem to go against the details that I've now found on the site because of the helpful remarks in this thread.

And indeed it goes against the details of my JDS online call records. Made a 25 minute call to an 01 Geo number last night (Fri) at 8.00pm in the evening. The JDS charge in my online account for this call is 0p. So it looks like the JDS website (see right at the bottom of this page) is correct and the info you were sent (I presume by e-mail) is wrong. Thankfully!!

Well well, thanks for that TOG.

I'll get back to them and point this out.

Seems that their own employees don't know their rules.

  • Suggest you leave it - ignorance is bliss.

Don't want them realising the website is wrong and putting their prices up as a result

  • Has anyone had any problems with call qaulity since switching to just dial?

I have switched from BT to them and now my calls are crackling on both ends!!!

Getting annoyed with it. Is there anything I can do?

If it doesn't change I'm going back to BT for the few quid difference it costs me.

    Thanks

    Simon
