  • I've moved from TalkTalk to JDS. No need to reconfigure my Orchid for CPS. However can somebody summarise cheapest options at the mo for:

    01/02 peaktime

    Landline to mobiles, peaktime/evenings/weekends

    NGNs, peaktime/evenings/weekends

    TIA

I did not know JDS worked in USA. :D

    01/02 Geo peak. 1899.
Landline to mobile peak 1899.(Landline to mobile E&W JDS cos of its capped mobile rates.)

NGN,s. 0844/0871 BT all all times.
    0845 Peak. https://www.dialaround.co.uk 0870 peak 18185

    0845/0870 E&W BT.

    Free DQ. 0800 0192 190
    PF.
  • Cheers p_f :j

I'm being lazy - why's JDS cheaper than 18185 for w/e mobile calls?

  • You just dial 1899 - simple!

It doesn't stop you from being able to dial prefix numbers for other tel companies. You could even dial 1280 for those premium 0870 and 0845 numbers which are actually cheaper on BT.
  • why's JDS cheaper than 18185 for w/e mobile

It actually depends on length of call.

3 min mobile call on JDS weekends capped at 15p.
    3 min mobile call on 18185 10p.

6 min mobile on JDS weekends capped at 15p
    6 min mobile call 18185 12p +4p connection 16p.

15 min mobile call on JDS weekends 15p.
    15 minute mobile call on 18185 30p +4p connection 34p.

20 min mobile call on JDS weekends capped at 15p.
    20 min mobile call on 18185 40p +4p connection 44p.

I choose 18185 because providing you dont make lots of short mobile calls, and dont make lots of long over 20 minutes one JDS would normally be cheaper.
    PF.
  • Very useful info pricefighter.

I've reprogrammed my routing table. I'll use 18185 for general mobile calls at w/e and JDS for family mobile calls at w/e which tend to be longer.

I got Orchid to add unique routing codes to my own mobile numbers a while back to take advantage of TT Calling Circle discounts.

    Cheers

  • I am with bt for phone calls and broadband. I was going to change to just dial and 1899 for the phone calls but would it be cheaper to change to one tel for broadband and phone calls plus 1899 as override?

first posting so I hope I've done this right

I think OneTel's BB is more expensive than BT's and, as OneTel aren't offering free evening UK 01/02 calls ATM (just free weekend) but JustDial are, your first option appears cheapest.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

    Hi,
In the article "Cheapest calls provider etc." Martin seems to favour 1899 but points out the minor(?) problem of direct debit on debit or credit card which is unstoppable.
18866 on the other hand are for uk landlines exactly the same & offer the option of changing or arranging payment by proper bank D/D which is stoppable. If the reason is overall that 1899 is better for some o/seas & mobile rates then perhaps that should be highlighted. The use of 18866 overcomes the (to some) problem of personal control.
