Assuming that you could have such a feature thats a good idea, at least a number of users say 10 click on spam button like the thanks button it would remove the post if not temporarilyWhy not have spam buttons?
If pressed a certain amount of times the post is locked or disappears until a moderator decides it is spam or not and removes offending post for good.0 -
Only thing is, the cliques, there are some, may pick on people. It has been known.
I had the same thought. Also it wouldn't take much for and definitely wouldn't be beyond some people to click on the spam button, just because they didn't like the post.0 -
I see that petrol spammers is back again with 15 posts of pure 100% spam0

Yep.
I've given up reporting individual posts. Just tend to send abuse an email saying "spammer" and a link to their new user profile now.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Why has this spammer not been banned from MSE? He spammed 10 boards the other night and is doing it again tonight, am I wasting my time emailing abuse with these links? I think I am, so in future I'm not gonna bother."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. It's not easy to ban someone when they are determined.
- They can ban their IP address, but these are easily changed. Mine changes when I re-boot my router.
- They can ban the email address that they registered with. But a new address is easy to come by.
- They can ban the link shortening/redirecting sites/urls that they use in their posts, but there are 1000's of others they can use.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the explanation, it makes sense why this spammer keeps coming back then."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -
Yes but you can report his IP address to his ISP (assuming he aint using proxy) along with time/date and let then do the work. I am sure this prat is called Paul he has used it several times now. It is very easy to find someone IP address yes it is shared but date and times may issolate who they are and action taken to get rid of this vermin
People like that only understand one thing action. Action by his ISP to disconnect him and let some other ISP take responsibility0 -
MSE could report the abuse to the owner of the IP block, but after that is out of their hands.
They could be posting from anywhere in the world, and not all companies or organisations will take any action on such a report.
I'm sure the abuse team are taking every action that they can.
