MSE doesnt allow shorten links why dont they at least block known shorten link web sites and add more when they use other sites

A popular one they use is. Perhaps we could have a list of them on here and abuse block them it woudl at least stop some of them from hiding affiliate links which 9/10 there are

SHORTENING LINKS

Shortening links using sites such as T1nyurl, Snipeurl and Makeashortlink etc is not permitted. Links have been posted using these in the past to hide affiliate links, which are not permitted anywhere except on the Referrals Board. If you feel a link you want to post is overly long please use the Vbulletin link-shortening method. (Use Sra’s Unofficial A to Z to see how).

Why not give all BG's the ability to remove obvious spam posts from all boards... not just their own... So when spammers cross post on lots of different areas a BG could do a swifter clear up... :j

I know it creates a bit more work for them potentially but that could be solved by appointing more BG's in the future if this is found to be the case...

I as a BG would like to be able to get rid of spammers on boards other than my own. There are times when theres been no one else around and it is frustrating to only be able to get the spam off my boards and see them all over the others. but how would that be done??? BGs are specific to their boards as they often have specialist knowledge. How can it be done without treading on others' toes???

Cheers Sarahsaver... the way I saw my suggestion working is only the most obvious or serial spammers being removed... that way toes hopefully would not get trodden on... not sure if this is just my rose tinted view!

Well at least that domain name above is now blocked unfortunately some of mikeansia remain despite reporting him at 16.03 today

Suppose the priority may have been blocking the url shortening site (at least if folk click they don't get anywhere), maybe they just forgot to ppr the muppet at the same time...

Yes thats what I thought at least thats one shorten link gone he has used others but thats the main one

How many forum users does it take to spot a spammer, only one but another 10 feel the need to tell them to go away

Why not have spam buttons?
If pressed a certain amount of times the post is locked or disappears until a moderator decides it is spam or not and removes offending post for good.
Or why not have spam moderators (their only function is to remove spam) who can remove such posts the spammers would hate them we would love them!!!
As we have a thanks count they could have a spam count (no not a sperm count!!!).
