THE CARDIOMYOPATHY ASSOCIATION.
http://www.cardiomyopathy.org/
CMA helps people and their families affected by cardiomyopathy.
I have had cardiomyopathy for 13 years and have found the association a great help to me.
As well as the information on their website, they provide booklets on the three main types of cardiomyopathy - hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy
As well as funding cardiomyopathy nurse specialists in London, Glasgow and Belfast, the CMA plans to fund more nurse posts in the coming years. We also fund a consultant cardiologist at The Heart Hospital in London. These are major contributions to support the care of people with cardiomyopathy. The CMA is one of the charities that campaigned for and subsequently contributed to the development of the National Service Framework (NSF) Chapter on ‘Arrhythmia and Sudden Death’ .This is a major initiative that aims to improve services for cardiomyopathy patients in the UK.The CMA is constantly working to help those affected by cardiomyopathy0 -
http://www.theoliverfoundation.com The official charity is The Oliver Charitable Foundation (UK) 1006195. It was founded in 1991 to help young people from a township near Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Many are AIDS orphans and street children. It has established a hostel and training facilities as well as numerous activities in and around the township. I have personally visited these and was very impressed with the dedication of staff and volunteers who are making a real difference to the lives of these young people and, in some cases, their extended families0

c.Supporting Families With Children In Hospital
d.This charity provides an invaluable service during what is often a very stressful time. I have used Ronald McDonald house when my daughter was in Yorkhill having heart surgery and it was such a relief not having to think about where to stay or how i was going to pay for it.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides free "home from home" accommodation for over 350 families each night and is planning to double that over the next five years, with current plans to build Houses in Birmingham, Manchester, Arrowe Park and Ashford. It needs to raise £33 million to do this and it needs your help!:j Please visit the website for more information on the 12 current Ronald McDonald Houses and 29 sets of Family Rooms that it provides in the UK at children's hospitals and hospices.0 -
a. Kids Company
b. http://kidsco.org.uk/
c. Practical, emotional and educational support for vulnerable children.
d. This is a wonderful charity doing brilliant work to help traumatised inner-city children and young people heal and make the most of their lives. It offers a safe, caring family environment and never turns a child away; I can't recommend this charity highly enough.

a) British Lung Foundation
b) http://www.lunguk.org/
c) UK's only charity for everyone affected by lung disease
d) One person in seven in the UK is affected by a lung disease. Since being diagnosed with a lung disease myself last year I have since discovered how much is needed to help the BLF campaign hard for improvements in all areas of lung health and to raise public awareness. Money is needed to constantly research for advancement in treatments and to help all those affected.0 -
Hi
I would like to nominate Acorns Childrens Hospice Trust Charity no. 700859
www.acorns.org.uk
Acorns Childrens Hospice provide respite and care to children with life threatening and life limiting conditions, and their famillies.
My son Noah has Edwards Syndrome a rare chromosome condition and is life limited, we were told when he was 6 days old and the prognosis was that 90% of children with this condition die before they are 1, Noah is 28 months but, we live in the knowledge that he won't live a long life and Acorns have given us all the care they possibly could, Noah goes their for respite and we get a well deserved break. We couldn't cope with out them. He has music therapy, goes swimming things that he couldn't do in 'normal' life. They have given us care and love and that will coninue even when his time is up.

I would like to nominate the Born Free Foundation. They work throughout the world to protect and prevent wild animal suffering and preserve threatened species in their natural habitat.
After the tragedy of the riots in Kenya, wildlife has been particularly under threat as tourism has gone down dramatically due to the unease in the country. Animals have been hunted and poached to feed families effected by the political turmoil.
Please support this charity for all its fantastic work.0 -
a) Doncaster MIND
b) http://www.doncastermind.org.uk/
c) Mental Health, provides support, information and help, de-stigmatise
d) Mind in Doncaster provides support to those with mental health problems. MIND have befrienders and counsellors who help to empower their clients to take control of their lives.
One area MIND can help clients is in learning about financial awareness and budgeting. The mentally ill are often unaware of the benefits and grants that they are entitled to or how to deal with money coming into their possession. The grant would help train the team of volunteers and permanent staff to teach either individually or as a group the basics of budgeting and managing money. It would also allow research for MIND to maximise the potential of its clients to obtain grants which sometimes are unknown to the staff/volunteers.0 -
a. Tiny Tickers
b. www.TinyTickers.org
c. fighting heart disease in babies, before birth.
d. Tiny Tickers is very small charity with a big job.
Every year 2,500 babies are born with serious heart disease.
Our aims are to improve the care and treatment they receive and give these babies a better start in life.
Perhaps one day these tiny tickers will be big savers!
Our annual budget is relatively small, yet has a big impact, so a little bit of money goes a long, long way.
Thanks xx0
