King Ecgbert Integrated Resource Charity
http://kesresource.org.uk
Helping Young People with Austism Access Employment
This charity provides 2 workers to support young people with autistic spectrum disorders gain paid employment. Since 2006 they have placed 40 young people have received work experience and 12 have found paid work. Unemployemnt in people with ASD runs at around 98%. This project aims to assist people with ASD who have many desirable skills to find paid work and not be reliant on the state. A small budget could save thousands in welfare benefits. The project receives no state funding but has relied on a lottery grant for the past 2 years which is now about to run out and the project will fold without guaranteed funding. The proect is headed by Matthew Hesmondhalgh who runs the integrated resource unit in King Ecgbert School in Sheffield. My own son has been a pupil in the resource and from having very little hope of him ever gaining useful employment he is now predicted to get 3 GCSE's and has a independent future ahead of him. This Unit means the world to me my son and the other pupils and their families0 -

i would like to nominate the charity called ADDIS - they support children and their families with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) the offer information and advice and sometimes training for this difficulty which is often inherited.
Children with adhd have a brain chemistry imbalance and are often understood as their behaviour can be really challenging - they are unable to stop and think before acting and often get excluded from school and can become socially isolated - and may get involved in criminal behaviour.
ADDIs runs conferences and aims to raise awareness about ADHD to prevent children becoming exculded and margninalised by society.
I am an ADHD Coach and live and work with this disorder so i know how it can deeply affect both the sufferer and their family.
Please feel free to ask me for more info about ADDISS and ADHD in general
- im a mine of information
Many thanks

a. I'd like to nominate Calum's Cabin
b. Website address is www.calumscabin.co.uk
the link below gives you a better idea of it's purpose though: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/real-life-stories/2008/02/26/grieving-family-raise-cash-for-cabin-to-give-sick-kids-much-needed-holiday-86908-20331832/
c. Funds holiday cabin for cancer kids and families
d. Based on the Scottish Island of Bute, Calum's Cabin is a charity set up by one family whose 11-year old son lost the fight with cancer. Calum was a delightfully ordinary boy but very much part of the small community (around 6,500 population). Calum's family wanted to help other families going through the same daily struggle and came up with the idea of building and upkeeping a fully equipped holiday lodge in Bute for any families who are coping to come to terms with having children with cancer. The charity began with donations and fundraising locally, and we (the locals) did quite well. Fundraising needs to be ongoing though. The funds raised will also be used to pay for fuel and other household bills for the cabin, ferry travel to Bute for the families and spending money, which they will be given when they arrive to cover meals and any other expenses during their week. This charity will give some of these families their last real quality (worry-free) time with their children and must be supported.

c. Challenging the causes of poverty and making change happen.
d. In nearly 50 countries, we work with the people at the frontline of change: our 600 overseas partner organisations. They tackle poverty and its causes. From finding better ways of farming in the Bolivian altiplano, to protecting women raped and forced from their homes in Darfur, they’re there. They know what’s needed. They know how to deliver change.
Through our partner organisations, we reach some of the poorest communities on earth. Our partners tell us the stories: of hardship and disaster, of change and heroism, of the tenacity and resolve it takes to survive, and of the victory of building a life.

a. The Big Wide Talk Children’s Project
b. http://www.bigwidetalk.org/
c. An education charity working in schools/children’s services
d. Big Wide Talk is a groundbreaking, education charity that works in schools and children’s services. Learning with and within Big Wide Talk is a virtuous cycle of reflection and collaborative effort for everyone: children, parents and professionals. Big Wide Talk understands that all children, including the poorest, the disadvantaged and those with disabilities, have an instinctive creativity and learning. A third of children in Britain still live in poverty relative to others and social mobility is at a standstill, yet the conditions of children’s lives sit at the centre of progress for all of us. We believe that Big Wide Talk addresses these realities in order to shape and drive public services for children.Currently unemployed (redundancy) but in control of my finances and hoping to get a new job, start a Masters course and save up for a house. A tough challenge but MSE will get me through it.0 -

a. Troop Aid
b. www.troopaid.info
c. Supply Service casualties returning from serving their country.
d.
When injured troops return to the United Kingdom from war zones, they arrive back in their uniform, for example combat kit, boots etc. They do not have any civilian clothing and usually no money to purchase essential necessities for their immediate use.
The objective of TROOP AID is to supply the basic essentials required when Service casualties return from serving their country overseas.
Examples of what they supply are: A large holdall containing washing and shaving kit, trainers and socks, underwear, tracksuits, T-shirts, sweatshirts and a warm fleece. Female requirements are also provided.
They also supply videos, dvds, books, games and confectionery which includes chocolate, crisps, biscuits etc.
It has been said that we do not help our troops - Troop Aid is trying to rectify this but needs donations to keep going.0
