    Only does epilepsy research.
It is a small charity which does excellent work in the are of epilepsy research.
  • I would like to nominate as a charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP).
Description "world class, award winning debt counseling service".
    http://www.capuk.org/
I think this charity should be supported as its focus is on helping the public who have got into debt problems & guiding them out & working with them on an ongoing basis to pay their bills on time & work out of debt. They are helping the public with no charge to them and funded directly from gifts from the public. They are a national charity but are now going international. They provide a world class debt counseling service for people who have run out of options. As a result they have made a positive impact not only on their clients finances but on their personal lives as well. Many clients have been at the point of suicide & CAP has helped them to turn their lives around.

    a. Mind (National Association for Mental Health)

    b. www.mind.org.uk

    c. Leading UK mental health charity including debt advice

    d. Mental health issues affect so many and yet are viewed as one of society's biggest stigmas. Many sufferers incur huge debts due to their illness which only compounds all the other implications of their condition - relationship issues, family problems, job worries etc. Mind is running a campaign currently regarding debt awareness but more needs to be done. My own experience of this involves a sister with bipolar disorder (historically called manic depression), who has seriously attempted suicide several times. Her debts - in excess of £30k - built up during the manic phase of her illness only increased the pressure on her during these times.

~ Giving AIDS orphans hope for the future ~

"HIV/AIDS has already orphaned 13 million children in sub-Saharan Africa. By 2010, it is estimated that this number will rise to 20 million. Make no mistake; this is a problem of huge scale. Yet the opportunity of bringing life, hope and purpose to a generation of children who otherwise would have none, truly make it a cause worth fighting for…."
Donations are used for practical implementation of community support, education, therapeutic and entrepreneurial initiatives. Please have a look at the website, these kids are great and the only difference between them and any other is circumstance, it'd be great to help give them a chance!
  • a. Childrens Hospice South West, my son died five weeks ago and we never made it to the one in Devon.

    b. www.joeway.co.uk we launched this website four weeks after Joe died and raised £4000 in two weeks we are aiming for £25,000

    c. Cornwall needs £5 million to open a hospice for life limited children.

    d. Joe is the inspirational little boy who touched people’s lives around the country and beyond.
His story of hope and fighting against all the odds with a cheeky smile has made what could of been the worse of times the best of times.
His story continues to inspire individuals and business to donate funds to The Precious Lives Appeal to build a children’s hospice in Cornwall.
Joe was always too ill to travel to Devon to stay at the hospice which is why we are supporting the need for this facility in Cornwall.

  • I wish to put forwards Youth For Christ UK, a Christian Charity which aims to help young people be safe, away from drugs & drink, and also to learn about the Christian Faith.

I think you will agree it is a worthwile cause.

    www.yfc.co.uk

    "Who are Youth for Christ?
Youth for Christ (YFC) is a national Christian charity that was founded by Billy Graham in 1946. Working with around 200,000 young people each month, we draw alongside teens from every background and culture in Britain. Our 150 fulltime staff and countless local volunteers specialise in working with unchurched youth: communicating and demonstrating the Christian faith. In all of our youth work we use a four D approach:
    Demonstrate … God’s love
Declare … relevantly the good news about Jesus
Decision … Giving young people the opportunity to accept Christ as their personal Saviour
Disciple … Serve the local Church by providing both evangelistic and discipleship resources "

    c. Grief support programme for bereaved children and young people
    d. Nicky's Way believe children have a great capacity to survive the death of a close family member, but this journey is made easier for them by being alongside others who care. After careful assessment of the needs of individual family members, Nicky's Way runs an age-related group-work programme offering a range of activities, together with a support group for adults that runs alongside the children's programme.

The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC)

    http://www.nacc.org.uk/content/home.asp

Colitis and Crohn's Disease Research and Support Charity

Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease are both forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and affect 1 in 400 people in the United Kingdom. Both diseases are chronic (ongoing – no current cure). Crohn's disease affects the small intestine and ulcerative colitis the lower colon both causing inflammation, ulcers and scarring to the wall of the intestine. As a result the function of the bowel is impaired and symptoms which can last for years include pain in the abdomen, urgent and bloody diarrhoea, continual tiredness, loss of weight and depression. I would like to nominate this charity because the embarrassing nature of this disease means few people are aware of it and yet many are affected. The (small amounts) of money that the NACC has and uses for research are producing fantastic results to learn more about the disease and look for a cure and any further funding will really make a difference to this charity.
