Special days aim to provide young adults living with life-threatening conditions a chance to escape the pressures of their daily routine and share quality time with family and/or friends. Every special day is of the young person's choosing - it could involve fulfilling a lifelong dream or it could simply offer an opportunity to bring some much needed normality back into their lives. To date the charity has organised and funded special days for young adults living with a wide range of serious conditions including amongst others; cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, organ failure, multiple sclerosis (later stages) and heart disease.

RYA Sailability
http://www.rya.org.uk/AboutRYA/RYASailability/
Helps disabled people to get on the water
Specially designed or adapted boats allow disabled people to enjoy the thrill of being on the water and feeling the wind on their face.
Beginners can sail safely with trained instructors and assistants; while for those who sailed before they became disabled, this gives them a chance to compete as equals.
One sailor wrote:
We all like to win through, and such is the psyche, the more difficult the “win” the greater the feeling. As a wheelchair jockey with a passion for sailing, “winning” is only part of it, self-reliance and risk-assessment another, but perhaps most of all, I find my Freedom.0 -

The Royal British Legion please
www.britishlegion.org.uk
They support all serving and ex serving members of the armed forces
My husband was in the army for 15years. Presently the British Legion are helping us considerably. I have now been registered disabled,my husband has had to leave his job to be my carer. They are helping us to sort out debts, helping us to finance a lifeline so I can press for help if my husband has gone to get shopping. They could also help us with other needs such as scooters etc
They also provide hospital visits, care homes for ex personnel and support all forces and ex forces families with whatever circumstances they have.
Isn't it amazing through buying a poppy for rememberence day all that they do for these remarkable individuals who are fighting for our country in Iraq and Afghanistan and to ex forces personnel who fought for us in the first, second world wars etc.
What a great way to say thank you to these people by giving them money for such a worthy cause.0 -
Special kids in the uk please.
http://www.specialkidsintheuk.org/
A charity dedicated to support the families of special needs children.
This charity has been a lifeline for my family & hundreds of others who have children with some form of special needs.
The members of the online charity treat everyone else as one big family, and I would not have been able to cope with the diagnosis of both my children's disabilities if it wasn't for them.
The only funding they recieve is through their members fundraising. The volountary staff that run & moderate it work tirelessly to keep it going, as well as looking after their own disabled children.
Please support this charity.0 -

a) the Samaritans
b) http://www.samaritans.org.uk/
c) 24hr support for people experiencing distress or despair
d) I’ve called the Samaritans when I’ve simply not known how to get through the next half hour, or the next few hours. Whether this has been 2pm or 4am the support on the other end of the phone has been truly amazing. This service has greatly reduced the burden of support for my family and friends, and the guilt I experience as a result of that support. In turn this has improved the quality of all our emotional wellbeing and our relationships.
With the number of people experiencing depression and crisis as a result of debt increasing, and with the lack of immediate support available for people experiencing any kind of emotional distress or despair, this is a truly vital service.
The Samaritans currently receives less than 2% of income from Government and Statutory sources; the majority of their funding comes from individuals, trusts and companies.0
