a) Changing Our Lives
b) http://www.changingourlives.org
c) supports people with learning disabilities speak up for themselves
d) The organisation enables people with learning disabilities of all ages to speak up for themselves and take control of their own lives. It works across the West Midlands but is also involved in work nationally. Changing Our Lives is run by people with learning disabilities with help from able bodied supporters.
Its core value is that “People with learning disabilities are citizens in their own right and have the same legal and civil rights as other members of society.”
This organisation has helped some of the most disempowered people in our community make real changes in their lives such as enabling people to live independently for the first time, use public transport, get employment or access education. I have worked in the voluntary sector for years and this is the most vibrant, joyful and empowering organization I have ever come across.

The CGD Research Trust
Registered Charity No. 1003425
http://www.cgd.org.uk/
CGD is a rare and life-threatening genetic condition which could affect 8-10 people in a million of us. You are born with a faulty gene in your bone marrow, meaning your white blood cells cannot fight infections as they should. People with CGD have to take powerful antibiotics and antifungals every day.
Treatments including bone marrow transplants are increasingly successful. Although still in its infancy gene therapy offers real hope for the future with promising results from recent clinical trials.
The CGD Research Trust strives to create a better life for those living with CGD through support services for families and trough funding vital research to find improved treatment and a cure for those affected. Over the last ten years more than £3.6 million has been invested into 39 research projects. (cited from CGD Research Trust Website.)
My little cheeky monkey is affected by CGD, the CGD Research Trust kindly helps us a lot. We just want to help them as well!
Please vote The CGD Research Trust!

1. Families Need Fathers
2. www.fnf.org.uk
3. keeping families and children in contact after separation
4.Families Need Fathers is a registered UK charity which provides information and support to both mothers and fathers, as well as a growing number of grandparents and new partners. FNF is primarily concerned with maintaining a child's relationship with both parents during and after family breakdown.
Founded in 1974, FNF provides over 200,000 services per year through its branch meetings, telephone helpline, website, internet forums, magazine and other publications, with demand increasing. In particular, calls to our helpline have increased by 50% over the past two years. Nearly all this is 'manned' by volunteers.
FNF receives no core funding and is reliant on membership subscriptions, donations and the time and energies of volunteers to continue its work.
The award would allow us to increase the number of helpline volunteers and keep the helpline running, allowing us to improve and expand our services to help keep children and parents in contact across the UK.0 -
www.firefighterscharity.org.uk
A charity almost entirely funded by support from the "fire community" itself, has recently changed it's name because the general public didn't recognize its previous name NFSBF, We all hope we don't need the fire service and forget about them until we do. Many firefighters are injured doing their duty and unfortunately some pay the ultimate price. This charity is a way of thanking the firefighters & their families, when they need convalescence and assistance as a result of helping us.0 -
Spinal Injuries Association
www.spinal.co.uk
The national organisation for spinal cord injured people
The Spinal Injuries Association should be supported for the good work they do helping all those affected by spinal cord injury, including the family and friends of the individual. They provide services that can encourage and enable paralysed individuals to lead independent lives, and also campaign for improved medical care and research into spinal cord injury.0 -

Our volunteer lifeguards keep beaches safe.
We are an association of clubs dedicated to training lifesavers and lifeguards who have been providing voluntary patrols on the beaches of GB since 1955. We provide surf safety education to local communities and children from 7 years upwards and have a very strong "Nipper" section consisting of 1800 members aged between 7 and 13 years in addition to our junior and senior members. The majority of lifeguards employed on the beaches of GB hold our beach lifeguard award. We are solely dependant on donations and sponsorship.0 -
1) The charity I would like to nominate is Contact a Family
2) http://www.cafamily.org.uk/
3) Enabling contact between families with disabled children
4) Contact a Family is the only UK-wide charity providing advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children - no matter what their disability or health condition. When parents find out that their child is disabled they can feel isolated and alone. Contact a Family enables parents to get in contact with other families who are facing and overcoming the same problems, both on a local and national basis, reaching over 275,000 families each year. :T
Every little bit helps - said the lil boy peeing in the sea0 -
The Charity is called Climb - Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases. http://www.climb.org.uk
Provides support for children affected by metabolic disease.
Climb funds research into metabolic diseases that the major charities do not provide funds for. Some children have such rare diseases that no other charities fund this kind of research or provide such wonderful support to the child and their families. Over 20000 families in the UK alone are affected by metabolic diseases. To fund the work of research scientists alone can cost millions each year and the demand for services from families in need is constantly growing. Climb relies heavily on voluntary donations so this funding would be a great help. They are not widely known and people such as myself volunteer to raise the profile as much as they can through fun runs, or any other activity possible. Please vote for Climb! :T0 -
a. West Glasgow Against Poverty (WestGAP).
registered charity No: SC 030367
b. http://www.westgap.co.uk/ (still a bit unfinished)
c. Helping people in poverty and challenging the causes.
d. WestGAP was started by local residents nine years ago and receives no government support. Being a volunteer at WestGAP for a year, I have seen at first hand the tireless work of the dedicated people who care for and advise anyone who needs assistance.
They have very high standards of conduct and exemplary policies on anti-discrimination.
They offer anti-poverty awareness (including in schools) and benefits training, support research and provide practical help and support through the advice and information service. They encourage, support and train other local people too.0
