  • I would like to nominate Kids Company. Provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people

    https://www.kidsco.org.uk

Kid's Company believe that every child deserves a childhood and work tirelessly towards this aim. The majority of the children who access their interventions present with severe emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, resulting from significant experiences of trauma and neglect. Many of them are ‘lone children’ living in chronic deprivation, with limited or no support from the adults in their family. I have been inspired on how many lives, Kid's Company have been able to return to the children who seek their help.

    1. Lymphoma Association
    2. http://www.lymphoma.org.uk/
    3. The most common cancer in the under 30’s
    4. Every hour of every day one person in the UK is diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. Last month, one of them was my 24 year old son. There are over 10,500 new cases of lymphoma in the UK each year, half as many again as the much better known leukaemia. It is the most common cancer in the under-30s and the 6th most common cancer overall. Despite this incidence, lymphoma is not a well known disease and many patients first hear of it on diagnosis, making them feel extremely isolated. The Lymphoma Association want to reach as many of these people as possible to help them get the information and support they need. They need to raise over £850,000 this year to continue to provide our services for those affected by lymphatic cancer.

to be rich in happiness is worth so much more than to be rich in money.... wouldn't it be nice to have the choice of both though!

I would like to nominate the following charity:

    Name: Cancer Funding for Cornwall
    Reg. Charity No. 1119002
    Website: None

Description of Charity: Fundraiser to help cancer patients in Cornwall

Why this charity should be supported:

Cancer Funding for Cornwall is a charity based in Helston in Cornwall. They raise funds to help cancer patients in the county of Cornwall. In the past the charity has helped with the cost of drugs that are not available on the NHS, provided special equipment - like a reclining chair that enables patients to stay at home or a mattress to help relieve pain, helped with travelling costs to and from hospitals and has provided funds for a family holiday. They also loan the items of equipment needed to make cancer sufferers lives easier and more comfortable.

Thank you for considering this charity.

    Alison.

    Helps young carers in Cornwall

This charity helped my children after I had spent months in hospital. I was unable to do too much, and the young carers project gave my children a break. They took them out to leisure parks, pantomime and even Eurodisney.
This gives young carers a complete break, takes them away to be a kid, away from the responsibilities at home. The buses were always full, and they never had enough places to offer people. So extra funds would help give a day or two of fun to a child who works hard just to help their mum or dad, plus do their schoolwork.
