Vodafone mobile broadband

The internet setting will probably have been switched to look for 3G only (or UMTS)
There will be a setting to choose GPRS only somewhere if you look (I don't have a dongle on me so can't check the settings for you).
It's not really Vodafone's problem so I wouldn't cancel the DD - Vodafone will want their money. Keep complaining to PC World - I presume that it was PC World that told you you would get 3G speeds, without any of the usual warnings about coveragee varying by location. You might be able to get PCW to admit their saleperson stretched the truth and offer you some compensation.0 -
This is my first post on this website so ill apologise if this is in the wrong section, i have searched and i recon its suited here.
Last year i joined the RAF and i thought mobile broadband would be a good idea. i got a contract in my mothers name i was 17 at the time. I started out near Aylesbury the signal was not great but i could do basic Internet jobs. then i moved to Wolverhampton area the signal was top notch if i put the dongle out the window of my room -good 3g speeds until it rained. when i moved to another part of camp, not 50 yards away i was stuck with 2g speeds again. I'm now posted to Lossiemouth (Elgin area north Scotland) and there is no signal. no use what so ever.
My mother contacted Vodafone to try and sort it out - cancel the contract. I've read the emails she had. She explained to them that i get no signal so we would like to cancel the contract. She got an email back saying they agree Lossiemouth has no signal but because ive used it in the last 10 months since i got it, they wouldn't cancel. The next email said Because it is in my Mothers name and her postcode (Fife) there is perfect signal there they won't cancel, but if she lived in lossiemouth they would cancel. It seems like a stupid arguement to me, MOBILE broadband but you must use it in your own area...
So the next email said they wont cancel without us paying up the contract (i have 6 months left 18 month contract)
this morning we got a letter from DLC ( Collection company i assume )asking for 107 pounds outstanding, so they now have canceled the contract
My mother asked to cancel, they said no sevral times. and now they have canceled without there being any agreement it was always ask to cancel, be told no. but now they have canceled without anyone asking again. This may be a way to cut down my options (i was thinking of changing the contract to my name and then cancel because i live in lossiemouth they would accept that) but i cant change the name on te contract now - because they canceled it.
Does anyone know what kind of action i should take, i cannot find it fair that they want money for a service they do not provide. Any help will be appreciated thanks.0 -

HIya,
Go into the Vodaphone shop, nest to John Mezies at the entrance to the St Giles Centre. They sorted mine out for me when it got so slow I couldn't use it. I was a few months into my contract too, but they were ever so helpful.0 -
