Vodafone mobile broadband

I am on a vodafone contract for my phone and have a perfectly good Virgin cable internet connection at home that I use most of the time. There are times when I would want to be able to access the internet on a laptop or when out shopping for electrical goods to be able to price compare and read reviews.

Rather than getting a dongle and therefore being locked into a contract is it possible to use my existing phone (SE k890i) as a modem via USB cable or bluetooth. The bloke in the 3 shop suggested I do this rather than get one of their dongles but the vodafone shop told me it would cost far too much to do that.

Does anyone know about data price plans through your phone?

Vodafone are offering exisiting customers with voice agreements (mins & text) half price mobile broadband!

Its usually £15 so it will now be only £7.50 for the length of the agreement

it'll need to be 18 month agreement if you want the actual modem free of charge.

Apparently only going to be available for a limited time so get into a store asap from tomorrow morning if you want to snap it up!

Just spoke to the manager of the store in Stevenage and he hasn't heard anything about an offer like this. Best he has seen is 1st couple of months at a reduced rate. He reckons he could sign up hundreds if they had such an offer.

Just called 191 and they know nothing about the deal and have suggested I call Sales on Monday. Also checked on the Vodafone forum and nobody from VF is confirmed the offer there.

its maybe a Voda retail only promo....call your local stores, Voda is like Virgin/Orange when it comes to one divsion of the company passing info to the other !

THanks OP, Just went into Manchester store and picked one up half price (£7.50 a month). They gave me the 'pro' modem for free usually £30/£50 on website. I went for 18 month contract but the lady said 12,18,24 month contract and you can have the 'pro' modem for free. My 3 dongle seems miles better (since I upgraded firmware) at the mo though believe it or not from where I live but ill be mainly using it in city centre so will try it out 2moz there.
