What a nightmare finding decent reasonable priced Iphone insurance.
It was something i didn't bargain for when costing the phone
I haven't found any companies which will replace a lost iphone and generally the excesses vary wildly.
I have finally settles on a monthly policy £4.99 per month with JS Insurance who insure thru AXA.
Excess is reasonable at £50.
When comparing the Policies, watch out for the small print as they can be very specific.
For Example, Some dont cover theft from commercial vehicles or theft with out violence ! I will have to hide my iphone under the floor with the spare wheel if i wanted to leave it it my car!!!!!!
Anyway good luck and please let me know if you come up with a better deal.0 -

What dont u try Safe2go Gadget Insurance it costs £7.99 a month and even covers the iphone for "lost" as well as all ur other gadgets.
Excess is only £35 for a phone claim when the value of the handset is over £3000 -

Hey, does anyone mind posting a website for this company as I
have googled it and nothing comes up and I am really desperate to insure my 3Gs Iphone now- fankooo:T0 -
I thought supercover insurance would be cheaper than o2, but after having been with them for over 12 months I am appalled at the terrible customer service and how the prices are increased if you claim.
I keep being sent "refurbished" handsets which break just outside of their months cover, I have now been without a working phone for over 8 weeks, they have twice sent my broken handset back to me without actually repairing it and each time they try to charge me a claim fee of £50. Don't try to call them as they hang up when you get to the front of the line. They ever actually call you back, even when they say they will.
truly terrible service, wish I'd read the reviews on the wider web and gone with an operator service or reputable 3rd party service mentioned here in other threads0 -
Just been into Barclays, already have a current account with them. £5 a month covering loss, theft, damage etc on iPhone can't really complain about that...0

Urg mobile insurance is a pain.
Orange have the best policy because they replace the phone for whatever reasons within 24hours, o2 premier have recently introduced this too i think.
The policy is almost £12 currently which is a rip of, but then consider the 'repair' clause in most other policies and it seems better value.
I mean who wants their phone sent away to who knows where for how long before its replaced, sometimes without a temporary phone.
Especially for example if you've bought something like an iPhone.
I've yet to see a policy provided by someone other then O2 or Orange which replaces the phone within 24hours for any reason including for theft, loss, going faulty or accidental damage (including water damage). O2 charge £15 and Orange £12 which is extortionate but I've always used it because i'm accident prone with my phone and don't want to end up without it for months or to be sent a different one then i chose.
Also must mention my experience with Orange Care has ALWAYS been fantastic, they get the replacement to you sometimes on the same day and offer 3 time slots for delivery. If it goes faulty they run a diagnostic check over the phone which takes about 5 minutes and once its confirmed they arrange the replacement to be sent, no sending away for repair no fobbing you off about the manufactures warranty, you give them the old once when the replacement arrives, it really is all sorted after a phone call.0 -

I couldn't agree more. I filed a claim with them on my stolen iPhone 3GS last month, and although I have FINALLY gotten the reimbursement, I will be cancelling my plan with them immediately. Terrible customer service. I have had them hang up on me after waiting (not cheap either! I had a £70 02 bill because of phone calls to them in January and I didn't even have my phone for most of it) and I have had many different people in the company lie to me, saying the check was on its way when it wasn't, saying they'd phone me back and not, etc. They also go under the name TalkCover and I think there is even a 3rd name as well. Very dodgy. Everytime you speak to a person from the company it feels like they all work in different places -- telling me oh we'll send you a new phone, and then 3 days later someone else telling me I could go buy a new phone, and continually misinforming me.
It took 38 days for their "48 hour replacement policy" to go through. It was exhausting. Honestly, I KNOW they were just waiting for me to give up...but my phone was worth £550 so that wasn't going to happen... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.0 -
What a nightmare this whole shennanegans is!
Just looked at insurance2go.co.uk and it looks like a good deal on the face of it but only if you're really anal about how you look after your phone. You'd have to be a kind of really boring, methodical, obsessive, mollycodling kind of person for this to not be an issue... and which iPhone users are?
T&C's bring up the following issues...
If nicked from a vehicle they'll only pay out if it was left in a locked glove compartment in a locked car. Who the hell ever locks their glove compartment?! I don't even have a glove compartment (Land Rover)!
One of the worst clauses is this one... They'll only pay out for theft from a building (your home for example) if it has been left in a locked cupboard or locked room. And all other doors and windows are locked and security devices are operational.
To claim for the above (that is if you lock every damn thing) then they will only pay out if you do all of the following within 30 days...
1) Pay the excess
2) Get the police crime ref No and a copy of the crime report
3) Proof of violent and forceable entry (photos, repair bills)
4) Proof of purchase
5) IMEI number (from a phone that's gone)!
6) Details re unauthorised calls
7) Any other requested documentation Blimey, read between the lines there!
Plus you must:
a) Report it to the Police within 24 hours
b) Report it to the "Administrator" within 48 hours
"Failure to observe these procedures will invalidate Your claim"
Also the following apply...
You're not covered if accidental damage occurs to the phone if it's left unattended. So you won't be covered against for example water damage from a leak or flood if you're in bed upstairs... or a visiting toddler throws it down the loo... or you leave it on vibrate on a high shelf (out of the way of the visiting toddler) and it vibrates off the shelf onto your hard tiled floor smashing into a bazillion pieces, one piece choking said toddler... etc etc
You're not covered for "failure due to date related problems". I go on dates all the time and usually fail. Damn! :rotfl:
More worryingly, you're not covered against a "latent defect". So on the 366th day after purchase, the phone mysteriously malfunctions through no fault of your own then you're not covered!
So basically this looks like a pretty good deal deal if you happen to be a clinically obsessive mobile phone engineer who always sleeps with or holds your phone, even when you're on the loo or in the shower (in a waterproof case) and on the odd occasion when you ever finally go out you carry a very large bunch of keys around with you, the contact details of the insurers and the local police, a camera - and you never go on holiday for more than 2 weeks and don't drive a Land Rover.
Suddenly the £12 a month deal with Orange is looking more favourable... then again I haven't read the small print of that yet :mad:0 -
As a follow up to my last post (above) I've looked at the Orange T&C's. I think you can tell a great deal from the general tone and use of language in T&C's. Orange's in contrast to insurance2go's seems much more "reasonable" and user friendly in a normal people everyday real-world sense. In fact, in stark contrast I cannot see any "wriggle" clauses (technicalities which are counter to reasonable commonsense which insurers could easily use to get out of paying up).
The only potential dodgy bits I can see in the Orange T&C's are...
Claims "may be subject to an administration fee". This will apparently be set out in a "Confirmation of Insurance Cover document". What this basically seems to mean is that not all the small print is available before you're already half-way down the road to being covered.
There is one worrying Exclusion which needs clarification... "Your phone will not be repaired or replaced where... loss or damage is caused by or consists of... <snip> ...loss or damage to any mobile telephone or device caused by its own breakdown or derangement" What?! So if the cause of a phone breaking down is because it breaks down, then um... you're not covered?!
Notwithstanding clarification, Orange are looking good. But hell, it's £12 a month. Or to put it another way £144 a year. But then, much less than a new iPhone.
Another good reason to go with Orange is that they will want you to be happy. If you claim and they wriggle then you walk - and they won't want that. So there is a prior incentive for them to honour a claim to keep your loyalty. Up against 02 and Tesco the competition is getting fiercer.
Disclaimer: Everything's above is just my opinion, not fact. Do your own research0 -
I ended up going with Endsleigh after all the stupidness. They're mobile phone insurance costs £3.33 a month (£40 a year) for any type of phone as a bolt on to contents insurance. The joke of it is that I can insure my iPhone with them and the contents of my home for less money than Orange want for insuring just the iPhone! Usual sensible and reasonable clauses seem to apply.
So in essence I've actually bought mobile phone insurance with contents insurance bolted onto the side and it's cost me £135pa / £11.25pm / £2.60pw for an inner London postcode. :j
PS. Forgot to mention - they gave me 10% off too so technically the iPhone insurance element is costing £122pa / £10.13pm / £2.34pw0
