Hey,
So i recently had a G1 that died due to some idiots beer on a night out. Fonesafe accepted my claim and then told me that the G1 is no longer being made and they would try to repair mine.
As a replacement they offered me a HTC Hero (G2), Nokia 5800 and a E71. The G2 is ok but i want a keyboard. The 5800 is crap. E71 is a nokia like a blackberry. I said no to all of them and that id take an Blackberry 8900
A G2 sim free is £329.00 from play.com
A 8900 sim free is £269.00 from play.com
I told them i was saving them money, but it wasnt one of the options and couldnt get "authorised" when asked first time. So ive asked for a referal to a manager whos calling back in the next 2 days.
The fonesafe t&cs are pretty vague, and I dont think any of the phones match the function of the G1. Having a touchscreen and qwerty. So i thought a cheaper BBerry would be a good option. Apparently not.
What grounds to I have to stand on. or am i literally at their mercy?0 -
Hi,
I have been reading this thread with much interest, however I am still unsure of who to get iphone insurance from with a reasonable excess & where the small print doesn't cover you for what you need.
Can anyone recommend a proper company rather than a cowboy outfit?
Thanks,
Hi
I use CUSC for my Iphone and the excess is only £50, which if you look around is a good deal. I have had two claims in the six years I have had insurance with them and they always came up trumps.

I must admit to not reading the entire thread however i just wanted to say that i do not recommend Policy Administration Service - the phones 4u phone insurance.
I have been paying monthly for insurance with them for 3 years. I made my first claim a little under 2 months ago. The claim form and information came through fast enough. I sent payment information for the excess off along with my phone and my claim. 2 weeks later my phone arrives back from repair with a big gouge out the side, applications problems along with the initial problem that i sent it off for repair for in the first place. I promptly rang them to report that my phone repair was not sucessful as they had suggested. They arranged for a courior to pick my phone up the next day. I was told when they recieve my phone, a replacement would be sent out within 3 working days. A week later i rang to find out where my phone is, customer services say that they had not logged that my phone had been recieved and that it would be sorted immediatly. Another 5 days go by and still nothing, so i rang them again! Again i was told that my phone had not been logged as recieved and that it would be sorted. I am awaiting a phone call back from them to confirm that it is all sorted.
I am at the end of my tether now. Why am i doing so much chasing around? They have a call log system so every time you ring, they know what its about. Anybody got any ideas how i can express my anger towards them without offending the poor customer service person on the other end of the phone? I am currently paying for a contract and still paying monthly for insurance on a phone that they dont seem to want to give me!
Update : Got a phone call back saying it was all sorted and that my replacement was on its way. Today i find a delivery slip, so had to get to the depot before it closed. Got home again and opened the package which contained my replacement which was the wrong phone (imagine how angry i am?). This time they are sending a prepaid pack to put the phone in. Again they wont send out another phone until they receive this one. Sooo because of the weekend and a bank holiday that is at least another week - that is if they acknowlege that they receive this one back. I also cannot put in an official complaint until my claim is closed. Apparently i may get a jesture of good will? Whats that going to be? free insurance? Would you accept that after what i have been through?!
Seriously! Avoid, avoid, avoid!0 -
Hi
I ordered a new mobile at a Vodafone store on Monday 7th June. As the assistant was talking me through the details at checkout he stated that insurance would be "free" for the first month then £6.99 thereafter. I told him I didn't need or want insurance whereupon he stated that he couldn't delete the insurance for at least 48 hours and that I would need to call him in order to do so. He hadn't set the agreement in place at this stage and the deal failed anyway because he had mispriced the 'phone by using a price schedule which had ended 2 weeks previously.
Is it the situation that I have to be proactive in this or have I been mis-sold insurance?
Thanks for any information anyone can add.

Either not covering loss (talkcover, cusc, iphoneinsurancecover), or not more than £400 (I have an iPhone 3gs - insurance2go) or excesses of £100 (talkcover).
But then I checked out my bank (thanks to whoever mentioned that) - I'm with smile and their insurance policy is FANTASTIC.
You need a "smilemore" current account which is £13 a month, but you also get travel insurance, breakdown insurance, a bunch of other stuff AND mobile phone insurance for up to 4 phones, limit of £600 inc VAT per phone, loss included, £25 policy excess. :j:j:j
I would recommend smile anyway, have been banking with them for 9 years now, but am so impressed with this deal. HTH.
Blimming heck, you're not wrong. I just upgraded my smile account solely for this.
The motor breakdown cover alone makes it a bargain let alone all the other stuff.

I've REALLY got to get this sorted for the iphone 4, but dont like the look of most of the standalone mobile insurance providers.
If it really comes to it I don't mind waiting a week or so to get the new handset, but want a new replacement and nothing less than what I had.
I dont have contents insurance bought ought to so I want to tackle the two issues at once.
Need a low cost basic level of home contents but one that includes the phone fully, and including accidental damage.
Anyone recommend a contents provider with good out of the home cover for a mobile?0 -
Hey guys,
I know that Talkcover and to some extent CUSC seem to be awful at paying out for lost phones.
However, I was wondering what they were generally like with damaged phones from accidentally dropping the phone?
I've read that talkcover generally take ages to process the claim - do they actually pay out though? and what about CUSC?0 -
I have a simple question - do any of the mobile insurance firms cover mobiles bought 2nd hand?0

LLOYS BANK MOBILE INSURANCE
I have been with Loys bank for a number of years and believed I had mobile insurance. To everyone out there please ensure you REGISTER your current hand set with them, as I recently lost my Iphone and have been refused my claim as it was not registered, I had never claimed and never lost a phone. Please Please let others know if relyng on a banks add on for phone insurance as you will loose out, like me.0 -
When you get an expensive mobile phone and add it to your contents insurance, it's always a good idea to specify the item (list it as a completely separate item on your "away from home" cover). If an insurer takes the money and then tries to rely on an exclusion (such as the "sports and music equipment" exclusion mentioned by Fire Fox in post 124 above), they are not able to; they took the money so have to provide the cover. What they can rely on is general and non product specific exclusions, such as declining a claim for theft from an unattended vehicle if the phone is not in the boot.
Hope this helps. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0
