I cancelled my expensive Insurance with o2 for my iPhone and went with insureandgo.com. I only did it becasue I saw there ad said 2.20 a month. You actually have to pay for the whole year up front, but that's still better than O2. covers up to £500 but that's plenty for me.

Has anyone had to claim with these guys? I know they're good for travel.

    Cheers.

Those sites say that about all Insurance companies. It's just a platform for people to complain. Admittedly I haven't had to claim from InsureandGo for their gadget cover. But they were excellent when my parents needed medical assistance in Spain. Personally I can't fault them.

I wasn't totally without my reservations due to the price being so cheap so I read the terms and conditions for the gadget cover and it's pretty strait forward, I think they are a safe bet.

I'll post again if I ever need to claim.
  • they sort of look a little more professional than some of the sites offering insurance, but that doesnt mean a thing I guess.

I wish the review site wasnt so clouded by the volcanic ash incident feedback so I could see more about other cases.

    Hi

What I don't like is the lack of cover for water damage. This is so often the cause of mobile failure and one that no manufacturer will stand over. They even put easily seen monitors inside phones so the sales staff can tell you to junk it rather than sending it back to the repair shop for them to do likewise !

I checked with my home insurance cover, (aviva) and apparently I'm covered for any item away from home (mobile phone, camera etc) under £500 individual item up to £2000 maximum, loss or damage..

The only things that are not covered are fraudulent calls or theft. But if I leave it somewhere, or drop it, covered. That'll do me i think, I'll plough the money I saved from not paying extra for mobile insurance into self defence lessons so I don't get it nicked!
  • please could some one help me, or advise me.

i had an iphone 3gs through tmobile, contract. i was also advised to purchased mobile phone insurance through them provided by wcs services, and was told that they were the i phone specialist, and covered all eventuallities. i had an accident about a couple off weeks ago, where my mates were jumping in to the see, and one of them pushed me from behind in to the see. i sent away to make a claim, and told them what happend. i dont know who pushed me......., and told them this. as none of mt friends would own up... they sent me a letter back DECLINED my claim under the ground that i failed to provide them with the name and address of the 3 party person involved who pushed me! what can i do??

I ended up going with Endsleigh after all the stupidness. They're mobile phone insurance costs £3.33 a month (£40 a year) for any type of phone as a bolt on to contents insurance. The joke of it is that I can insure my iPhone with them and the contents of my home for less money than Orange want for insuring just the iPhone! Usual sensible and reasonable clauses seem to apply.

So in essence I've actually bought mobile phone insurance with contents insurance bolted onto the side and it's cost me £135pa / £11.25pm / £2.60pw for an inner London postcode. :j

PS. Forgot to mention - they gave me 10% off too so technically the iPhone insurance element is costing £122pa / £10.13pm / £2.34pw

Has no-one mentioned the problems associated with claiming for phone loss or theft on home contents insurance; the following years' quotes will be higher after having a claim and there will be loss of any no claims bonus. Comparison sites like squeaky clean claim-free customers.

I'm very tempted to cover my new phone and other gadgets under my contents cover, which I haven't ever used, but think I'm far more likely to need to claim on it for a phone.

    What do others think?

I have been hunting all over for insurance for my new iPhone4 and I have stumbled across Barclays Current Account Plus (I cannot link their website as I am a new poster). For £5 per month you can receive "Mobile Phone Insurance, including cover against loss, theft and accidental damage, subject to registration". I have looked at their terms and conditions on the website and it has an excess of £25 and no limit to phone value (as far as I can see in the downloadable pdf) .

The account comes with some other stuff, such as extended appliance warrantys... (nothing else too exciting) But presumably if you open an account and choose this - even if it is not your main account, you can take advantage of the mobile phone insurance for £5 per month and use the other benefits as a bonus?

I think I am going to organise this tomorrow. If I get the interest free overdraft of £300 (listed in the benefits) then the insurance could even come out of the overdraft for the first year... What do people think?
