Hey
Just had an unfortunate wake up call from CUSC Foneguard. Had my phone stolen whilst at school (i'm a teacher), but they will not pay up or replace the phone because there was no violence used during the theft. This clause is well hidden in the T&C's. Hagve put an appeal in against the decision but don'y hold out much hope!0 -
I have got the iPhone 3GS specifically to use while out running, as it contains the Nike+ sensor. Just discovered AA contents insurance will not cover "Sports equipment and portable musical instruments which are damaged while in use."
I think I am going to go for Insurance2go who will not cover "Theft of the Telephone from the person unless force, pickpocket or threat of violence is used."
Concerned I wouldn't be covered for the phone being snatched from my armband or my hand but Bouvier's legal dictionary says
"PICKPOCKET. A thief; one who in a crowd or in other places, steals from the pockets or person of another without putting him in fear. This is generally punished as simple larceny."
Hope that helps someone. Any comments welcome as I won't be tied into a contract on this insurance.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I think insurance2go are great. I signed up to them last year, then got a new phone so had to transfer the policy, which they did no problem. I lost my phone last month. Called the network and got it blocked, then reported it lost to the police. I called insurance2go on the Monday evening and by the following Friday i have my replacement phone. It was brand new, same model and colour.
My policy ran out about 2 weeks ago and i've just got a new phone so im looking for insurance and they still seem the best. Don't forget they're on quidco as well.0 -
Just noticed JS Insurance. They seem to be run by city main, like insurance2go, but the excess is £50 rather than insurance2go's £100 (3 months) £75 (3-6) £50 6+.
Does anyone have experience with JS Insurance?
EDIT: Noticed JS don't cover loss!!! Looks like i'll be using insurance2go again.0 -
OK, I have just spent the last few hours researching all the mobile phone insurers mentioned on here. There is something wrong with ALL of them! Either not covering loss (talkcover, cusc, iphoneinsurancecover), or not more than £400 (I have an iPhone 3gs - insurance2go) or excesses of £100 (talkcover).
But then I checked out my bank (thanks to whoever mentioned that) - I'm with smile and their insurance policy is FANTASTIC.
You need a "smilemore" current account which is £13 a month, but you also get travel insurance, breakdown insurance, a bunch of other stuff AND mobile phone insurance for up to 4 phones, limit of £600 inc VAT per phone, loss included, £25 policy excess. :j:j:j
I would recommend smile anyway, have been banking with them for 9 years now, but am so impressed with this deal. HTH.Go to the ant, thou sluggard0 -
After upgrading from an iphone to the 3GS model in late Janurary, O2 asked me if I wanted to continue my insurance but they would hike the price to £15/month for the pleasure. I thought this was extortionate so set about finding an alternative provider for insurance.
After reading the article on this website I decided to take out insurance with Talkcover, who charged me a little under £70 for 12months insurance. I paid the money and went to a confirmation screen thanking me for my purchase. It said to expect email and written confirmation in 5-7days.
After a hectic term at uni, weeks passed and I forgot about the fact I hadnt received any confirmation of the insurance. I emailed them to ask for confirmation but received no reply. After realising this easter that O2 were still taking money from my account for the old insurance I remembered about the talkcover insurance I was supposed to have. I emailed them multiple times and have never received any replies.
I searched for reviews on talkcover on the internet and found many people are having problems, including my friend who is in exactly the same situation as me...Money taken out of my account for insurance I have no confirmation and record of.
If it wasn't for reading this review website I would have stayed with O2 insurance, yet now, after following the recommendations, I have found myself out of pocket and non the wiser as to whether I am covered by Talkcover.
I need some help clearing this up, emails are not working and I cant even find a phone number to call. As far as I am concerned they have taken the money and not confirmed the insurance cover so I feel still entitled to my 14day grace and want to cancel the cover and get my money back... as a university student £70 could have been spent in a much better way.

You have to stop recommending Talkcover (AKA Supercover insurance)!! I took it out because of your recommendation and it may be cheap but that's where it ends! If you try and make a claim, the process is PAINFUL!!! Their website is very misleading - they lead you to believe you'll get a replacement handset within 48 hours BUT that's only if if it stolen, mine was water damaged. When I first made the claim they tried to say my story wasn't adding up and they wouldn't be able to cover me. I explained what had happened again and they agreed to start processing my claim. They told me they were sending out an envelope for me to send my phone back in. It didn't arrive so I called them up and they told me they needed my IMEI number so hadn't sent it - they hadn't bothered to call me about this, and I don't see why they needed my IMEI number as they took this when I took out the insurance. Anyway when the envelope finally arrived it wasn't prepayed so I had to pay over 5 pounds to send my phone to them. It took talkcover 23 days from when I made my claim to ring me up and tell me they couldn't fix my phone but they would cover the cost of a replacement. They told me they didn't have any phones in stock (despite them being readily available elsewhere!!) and I have just had to fork out 459 pounds for a new phone and they tell me they will reimburse me. This company are an absolute bunch of cowboys. I have read blogs of people who have had similar experiences so I know this is not a one-off. Their excess fee is also 50 and they don't cover for loss.0

i havent read this full thread, just read a few posts.
many bank accounts give free phone insurance, this is clubbed with their accounts which have a monthly charge but comes with free travel insurance. it is worth having a joint account in such banks as both account holders get the insurance. we have our phones registered under that policy.
I have never had to claim so dont know how good they are when it comes to claiming time. i dont know if the excess is competitive as didnt look into it.bubblesmoney :hello:0
