If you have accidental damage on your house contents and the phone is specifed yes.
If you specify the phone but DON'T have accidental damage then not.
The specifying the phone just extends the cover you already have to the phone, you need to read the policy / schedule of insurance to see whats covered.
It also depends on how you specify the phone. If you ask for the phone to be insured "anywhere in the world", then it's dealt with under the "personal possessions" cover rather than the "general contents" part. "PP" always includes accidental damage, so you can have standard "general contents" cover and include accidental damage for the phone.
"Standard" contents cover will include accidental damage to your TV, Video/DVD player and audio equipment as standard. "Full AD" contents cover includes accidental damage to everything else (sofa, carpets, etc).In the beginning, the universe was created. Ah.
Mines covered under personal posessions along with my camera, dind;t know they did otherwise.0 -
So would it be better to have it specified under the anywhere in the world? I have been reading the policy and it seems like it is covered, but I will call to have it added on the policy document..
I was just wondering about this one.. I have been read this a lot =
'We will not pay more than 15% of the contents sum insured for any one claim'
For example I have the 32g iphone 4, but is is on a contract so I don't have a receipt stating the price of £599 so how would I prove it? secondly the 15% jargon does this mean they will pay upto the value but not over, or does it mean they only pay 15% of the full value of the item..
I have 'Home Insurance Plus' policy document

You're looking at the wrong bit of the policy. You need to see what the sum insured is on your schedule. The bit you were looking at is the cover for items like hi-fi equipment temporarily removed from the home whilst doing things like decorating or moving house.
Personal Possessions cover is Section 3 of your policy. The limits are on Page 37. item 4 (shown at the bottom of this post for reference).
As for proving your loss, the very fact that you are under contract would be partial proof of ownership of the phone. Thereafter, you could rely on the box that the phone came in, evidence from your computer that you have back-ups for the phone and any phone bills to show use.
The most we will pay for any one claim will be the total sum
insured on personal possessions shown in the schedule up to
the following limits:
a) We will not pay more than the individual sum insured for any item.
b) We will not pay more than £3,000 for any one item, set or
collection, unless the schedule states otherwise.
c) We will not pay more than £1,000 for any one cycle unless the
schedule states otherwis. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

It does make me wonder if i should drop my orange care insurance, it is only a Nokia 5800 i have after all.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

My home insurance didn't cover my phone so I used Insurance4Gadgets to insure my phone, everythings covered and its cheap too.0

I don't have home insurance, so I went with Insureance2go (5.99)PCM, but I have an iphone. My old Orange insurance (which I cancelled today) was £12 PCM.0

So that will be slightly more than the £1.50 a month i paid to add accidental loss/damage to my goods away from the home on my contents insurance which will also cover any other items i remove from the home - golf clubs etc.
Probably cheaper to change home insurance providers.0 -
I was wondering why the guy from Orange laughed in a "you'll be back" sort of way when I told him I was going to look for iPhone insurance elsewhere. I think he might have been right...DFBXmas2015 #5 £4405.82/£4405.82 (100%) :j
