Morning everyone!
ChurchMouse - agree with what the others have said, your DS is perfectly entitled to celebrate his birthday on the proper day, how silly to be told to celebrate it another day.
The_Bride...hi there and welcome! Funnily enough I was at an 80th birthday party last night. It went on until about 2.00 am, birthday boy was a bit merry to say the least. He's amazing for 80. It was good, a bit of a funny party with the octarian's (is that the right word???) friends there too, most people a bit deaf...so lots of shouting to be heard and not because of music! Have a fab time tonight - if I'm reading correctly you'll have four generations all together. Take lots of pictures!
Somebody mentioned Ikea...ugh....used to work there...good luck to you...
Kaz...know what you mean about people insisting on helping, it can get my back up a little too specially when I haven't asked for help. Used to have a neighbour like that when I was in London...he'd come charging along telling me what I was doing wrong (everything!). Once I asked him how to take a radiator off so I could paint behind it - he insisted on doing it himself. He didn't manage it, but did manage to drain the system and leave a soaking wet floor behind.
I am resisting going back to bed....quite fancy another kip...but I shall resist...
Big hello to everyone I've missed or Xposted with. Bye all,
SnowyOwl
Today is a resumption of cleaning and filing duties. I am using the trickle method, which is a bit more generous with sitting down time that Kazonline's method of effort and rest. I doubt if I am getting the same results though...it'll all get done eventually.:rolleyes:0 -
I dont do ikea i hate it i hate it i hate it... oh loves the place but it took me 2 hours to get out the place last time going round in ruddy circles.. we have a agreement now.. he goes into idea in milton keynes and i go and sit in the asda cafe then do some shopping lolThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -

morning everyone
just a quick one today - busy running around doing various jobs today. DD2 got into her football team she is so excited - she plays her first match tomorrow so i will be joining all you mums standing in muddy fields!!!!!!!!!! I am very proud of her as this week at school she was told she was one of the 6 children who got the required level for her maths sats (optional ones as she has just gone into year 5).
Hope everyone has a good weekend

Good morning all of you, lovely day here, sunny with a breeze.
snoozer hope the docs appt goes better than you think, two weeks seems like a long time when you are expecting bad news. ((hugs))
elona homity pie? do you know if the recipe is on here, sounds like something I would like to have a go at.
The_Bride Welcome:D
tiredmum my dd1 never went through terrible twos or the Kevinette stage at 13/14 - completely tranquil child. My dd2 hit 14 last month and is making up for it big time, and I know it's hormonal depending on time of month. I was never like that:rolleyes:
lynzpower I have never been to Ikea, sounds like I am lacking a life experience there
Glad I firmly believe the squirrels are getting meaner and the spiders are getting bigger:eek: There was an article in our paper last week about a couple who had gone away for a few days. When they cam home the sitting room was trashed, with everything broken and ripped like someone had gone beserk. It turned out a squirrel had fallen down the chimney - they found him dead behind the sofa, apparently died in his frenzy to escape.
hex2 thanks so much for your offer of help. I have decided to stick it out for 12 months (if I can) and keep my eye out for another job. The difficulty I have atm is having to get my dd2 to and from school every day. We sent her out of the catchment area so there is no transport.
Hope you all have a luverly weekend. I am going sloe picking this pm after putting liver (yuk yuk yuk) in the slow cooker for supper. Am eating for iron purposes, does anyone have any suggestions to go with it?
regards
doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Morning all
I'm on a short break from the queue for the Last Night of the Proms, and decided I just had to find an internet cafe and come on here... Sad or what!
Actually I stopped in first to see what was happening on the BBC Proms message board.
I will be on the front row this evening :j :j :j so watch out for me. As I mentioned the other day I will be in a black evening gown, I haven't decided on the jewellery yet but it will either be diamante or (fake) pearls! I might see what I can do to identify myself as an Old Styler, but I can't find anybody who sells giant safety pinsI'll have a light blue wrap with me, but probably won't be wearing it as the temperature is usually pretty high in there. Anyhow, if you're watching TV, that's me. I will be standing on the same side of the hall as the cellos, about five or six people along from the middle, next to a short bloke who's the spitting image of Harry Potter on my left (in fact he might be two to my left, depends which side of him his girlfriend stands), and a lady with grey curly hair and glasses on my right.
Anyhow, I can't stop long as I've been roped into the team who make all the carnation buttonholes for tonight's chorus and orchestra. I've done it for the last two years and it's great fun, a little production line with lots of wine and sweeties involved
Hope everybody's wellOperation Get in Shape

Hello everyone, and welcome to The_Bride
Not done much this morning - was up past midnight last night, so slept in this morning. i've had my toast and coffee and am now trying to decide what to do first: must put the wm on as its nice and sunny outside so would get everything dried quickly. That might actually be first on the list......
Tootles - I like the avatarMust see about making one myself, as I like lookng at everyones pics.
PenPen - I think I have a *few* coffee revels left they're one of my favourites too, but I'll share :rotfl: Want to go to the nice gift and garden centre shop up the road today for a look about, so will have to try and avoid the temptation of the cherry chocolate that I saw there last time. Will be a great test of will power!
Better get going and get something done - have a great day everyone *hugs*:)0
