Anyone Into Cross Stitching?

Yes Ruth_honey I have tried Wilko's but has for Ikea and Dunelm, we don't have any near by. In fact we have NOTHING for frames near here! I will have to go over to Bournemouth for nearest Dunelm and Southampton for Ikea. I will get people to check car boots for me this weekend though, you never know.
If you can't find any frames, could you finish it off another way? Bell pull ends? Making into a small pillow? Covering an album, so they can keep some wedding photos in it?Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi folks
Ruth-honey .... I have done one tatty teddy wedding sampler (someone paid me) but I hated doing it too :rotfl:it was soooo boring and dull. I don't get on with cutesy ones normally -although I did start this one below for my SIL when she was expecting her 1st baby -but she went and did a small birth sampler herself -so I stopped..I intended to add the birth details..heck knows what I will do with it when its doneThe bunny is about 3/4 done then I just need to add the border...

I also have a cute kit that is a Marks n spencer one.... it came complete with fabric and zip to make it into a cushion.... It's a fat teddy in a nappy and rather cute..again -heck knows what I will do with it when I have done it....
EDIT- managed to scan that kit :Dnot a great photo(click on it for a better look) - but its a cutey kit-just not sure if I will ever have cause to do it...
Poppet -the other way around your frame problem would be to get a portrait/landscape frame bigger than you need and then get a mount cut with a square apperture -so you will end up with say a thicker top + bottom and narrower sides or vice versa -it can actually look really good -i have a few like that - like a poppy I did that was really tall and narrow -so to get a frame tall enough it was way to wide so the mount is really thick down the sides but I think it looks great-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I don't mind cutesy stitching. I have done some Bang on the Door kits for me, and I have loads of Winnie The Pooh, Somebunny, Popcorn and Country Companions kits in my stash. I have stopped stitching for babies as my friends are producing them far too quickly and most people don't appreciate the work and time that goes into stitching something anyway. I have loads of kits I want to do for myself, so I'm going to start working my way through those.
If you don't know what to do with the cutesy kits you have, why not stitch them and raffle them off for charity, or donate the finished kit to a childrens ward in a hospital. Actually, I'm sure a lot of patients would be glad of something to do while they're in hospital, so maybe donate the kits?Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

ooohhhh you are clever ruth-honey
I am allready making things for the hospice back home who looked after my sister at home for her last few days last year -I was going to see about having a stall at one of their open days to sell my crafting (knitting, crochet, jewellery making and x-stitch) to raise funds for them.... so I can add those to the collection and see if they want to raffle them -once I have done them ..... I have quite a few of the DMC light effect bracelet kits -but I might sell them as they are as they aren't my kind of thing -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

FINISHED!!!!!
I got my backstich done, yippee!
Followed your advice and washed it in mild liquid and pressed it damp between two towels. What a difference it makes! Its presently lying flat in the spare room. I'll post a pic once its framed. I really fancy that Dictionary of Cakes - so tempted!

I have looked at that dictionary of cakes kit about an hour ago..I was quite taken with it -even though its not my kind of thing....then I saw a row of cupcakes and they are lovely... i think I might do some of those kind of things (eventually) for our kitchen when we move
this is it...

Just to say I have started the wedding sampler - have to do it in secret - making it as a surprise for hubby.
I don't want to sound like a scrounge here but does anyone know or has for sale issues 152 & 168 of UKs cross stitch collection. I have had half a look at what I am missing and these two pop up - so far.
I probably put an ad in the magazine at some point too.
Sorry to be a pain folks.
Take care and happy stitching
