Hi Everyone
Hope someone out there can help me.
I had a house fire and lost a lot of stuff dear to me - including a lot of cross stitch. I had a few designs done and up on the wall and was working on one that was a copy of one I had done a few years earlier.
It was for my 5th wedding anniversery.
It was taken from Cross Stitcher (UK Publication) Magazine. I am sure it was from 1999 as that was the year of my 5th anniversery. It is a wedding sampler type thing. It is white evenware (or was it linen - sure it was 28hpi). It used white, off white and cream threads and some small beads. The edging of the pattern looked like lace - done in cross stitch of course.
Now here is the big ask - does anyone know what issue it was from. All my saved magazines that didn't get destroyed in the fire are in storage and I have not had time to through them to see what is missing. I have seen copies from 1999 on Ebay but don't know what one to buy.
I wanted to do this sampler again as it is 10 years since the original was done and would like to replace it on the wall again and hopefully rekindle my love for cross stitching.
I used to do it all the time but since the fire I have been somewhat reluctant to do it again - guess I am greiving the loss of the ones I had done and lost.
Sorry to go on, hopefully someone can help. I have wrote to cross stitcher magazine and waiting a reply - hopefully they will put an advert in for me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Kind wishes to all

Where did you find the above pattern? I love it. I use this picture on my ebay profile - didn't know it was a cross stitch pattern.

Morning sweetcarer, first of all, Im so sorry to hear about your fire, what a terrible time for you. I hope you will get into your stitching again, Im sure you will when you're ready.
As regards the sampler pattern, I can only suggest emailing the sellers on ebay describing the sampler and maybe they can advise if the pattern is in the magazine. Most cross stichers are very helpful so Im sure if you explain your predicament, someone would be able to help.
However, and I mean this in the kindest possible way, maybe the time is right to start a brand new project, one that will fire up your enthusiasm again? Maybe a sampler to replace the ones that have been lost and will mean just as much to you as it may signify a new start after the fire
I hope you dont mind me writing this to you and I wish you all the very best!

Hi Sweetcarer
Tried to PM you back but it won't sendso I came here instead
The pattern was one I got off e-bay about 3 or 4 years ago and Im affraid I don't think it has any details of the seller/designer on it either to help you track it down -although I seem to think they were selling lots of "1 offs"...when I get the chart out again (when I can remember which of my xstitch drawers it is in) I will double check just in case...
sorry I can't be of more help....-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I've had a look through my old Cross Stitcher mags from mid '98 to oct 2000, but can't see it. I am missing the odd few mags, so there's a possibility I don't have the magazine. Are you certain it was Cross Stitcher? I stitched something with beads that sounds similar, but I think it was from World of Cross Stitching. Sorry I can't be of more help.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Thank you for all the kindness so far in things.
I am pretty certain it was cross stitcher but I do also get cross stitch collection so I am now confused maybe it was in it. I am almost certain of the year.
Will have to go to storage and see what is what. Another job that I am dreading doing realising what I have lost.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
You have shamed me all into tidying up my sewing box!!
Plus the realisation I have the following to complete this year:
2 Wedding Cards - yet to find a chart/kit - suggestions welcome (think one will be a picture of HMS Warrior)
An embroidery tablecloth for my gran - was her wedding present 50 years ago which I have finished the napkins for. ( I like embroidery).
Some Black napkins for myself - mementos of work related stuff - could be a long time on that one.
Christmas Cards - downloading charts right now.
And a double quilt I found in a charity shop - nightmare design, but have lost the chart and desperate to find one - its Renaissance Rose Quilt by Bucilla - can anyone help?
Trying to work out Xmas presents I can stitch (have some lavendar bags to do) and what to do with all my stitching as it seems a shame just to make them and then do nothing with them - does anyone sell their wares at craft fairs etc?
Carried on musing adn then started to look for some japanese/oriental x stitch embroidery kits I had seen once, they are long thin panels, does anyone know where to get any from please.0 -
Just to let you know I found out what magazine it is - it is a cross stitcher one (not cross stitch collection) issue number 72 from august 1998.
Thanks everyone who helped - I have put a bid on ebay for a copy and hopefully will win it.
I am itching to start stitching again now.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0
