    Evening All,

Mr P, as an IT professional, please can you help me. I

need a new laptop. I currently use my work one but the IT guy keeps messing up and after some incidents I am concerned about privacy issues.

I have been reading the article on sub £400 laptops, and wondered if you could help me decide. There's an Acer on at £329.99 and a Sony Vai at £379.99. Please can you have alook at the specs and advise. I don't need anything too fancy, just the usual surfing, email, piccies, music, word processing, excel - and nothing too slow lol. Or indeed if you can recommend any others that are of a similar price range.

Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooo much if you can help :)

Ok, I will get some prices and specs for you tonight, give me 30 mins or so and will get back to you, 400 notes will get you a decent machine these days.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    Thanks Mr P and Clio,

I was reading this MSE article:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-laptop-deals

I like Acer cos it's cheap, and Vaio cos I like Sony :D . I ideally want to pay c.£350

    Hello:j

Been a lurker here for weeks and have been in on the Capital One thread but have a question which I am hoping you guys can answer...how do I get a free Equifax report? On the site the free trial is for the 'gold' service which costs £69.99. Do they want this £69.99 upfront and then refund it if you cancel in the free period?

I had the 30 day trial with Experian last year so can't get it free again but with my new Cap One card, I will be able to access that (should the card ever arrive but that's another story!!)

Thanks for help (and also thanks because if it wasn't for this thread then I wouldn't have thought to apply for the Flybe card which I got accepted for immediately and I got my card with a 3k limit...with all the Cap One probs am tempted to tell them to shove their card but no point being rash about things since the card is to make my file look a bit more healthy!!) xx

    Hi Loopy :)

    Congrats on the flybe :j

I would call up cap 1 cs  (I know)

When I got my cap1 it was the free alerts and 2 free reports (usually £6.99 each). I didn't have to pay £69.99 upfront. Don't spend the money unless you have to!
