If you haven't performed loads of searches then one more should be ok. My amex was definitely the last for a while. My limit is £3100. It's an odd amount but exactly the same as my MBNA. Plus you get 5% cashback for the first three months spending and then it reverts to 1%. I need to start spending on it - obv pay it off in full each month lol.
RE Halifax, when you pay cash direct to the branch it counts as a payment but the funds don't clear for about 3 days - really naff I know. But the main thing is is that it will show that you paid the bill today.
Sounds like you're heading the right way - congrats :j
I've applied for three in the past week ahem declind nat west. virgin considering and flybe accepted. I probably won't apply as i don't really want it but cashback would be good with all the christmas presents thats bought.
oh as long as its shown as paid today im not bothered
congrats with the amex !0 -

Good evening, how are my homies doin?Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Last week I applied for and got an instant decision on a Tesco Clubcard CC at 16.9% APR with a nice limit of £2,250. After six long years of working hard to clear my debts and waiting for the defaults to drop off my credit report, I was finally creditworthy again!
So I thought I'd try a few other online applications and see the results, and share them here. None of them were instant decisions... all were "we'll get back to you".
Some background info on my situation :
My credit report has one CCJ from 2004 for £3k, which was marked satisfied in Aug 2007. It will clear off my report in Jan 2010. I have a Capital 1 Classic Card with a £200 limit which I use for my fuel and pay off in full each month (had it for a few years now). I have a loan of nearly £11k from Egg (converted a credit card balance into loan, payments are £300 approx per month). I've never missed any payments or paid late on any of my current obligations and there are no defaults on my credit report.. My salary after tax etc is around £2k per month. I'm a private tenant, and I'm in my early 40s.
Applied for the following:
Barclaycard Platinum : have been offered a card at 19.9% APR. Credit limit as yet unknown. No search done on Experian (probably on Equifax?).
Amex Platinum Cashback : still awaiting results.
MBNA Platinum : declined.
Egg Card : declined.
I hope this might be of help to some of you when it comes to applying. I'll let you know on the Amex decision when I get it.
Of course, your results may vary!0 -
