charlie, i have suggested before that you try to get a vanquis, aqua or the latest mbna card that we're all trying to get thanks to darcy.
none of us can give you a definate yes or no to what you could get or might not get offered, all we can tell you really is what we've all personally got and have been thru and try to help ourselves get forward on our credit files thanks to everyones input to this brilliant thread.
whilst i dont have any ccj's, i do have one default that isnt due to drop off til 2011, i dont know what my credit score is, since i already have a good idea how sh!te it might be from the 'applying and not getting' button lol, however i do have vanquis and a cap 1 card, so maybe youll get them yourself if you applied, i did post the link somewhere round here for you as well, huggles x
hi can u help me please what card is that can u please explain to me that becouse i did call mbna yesterday they say they dont know about that card.ive me datais if u can please.

Hi Cas-dor, here are links to some of the cards mentioned. You could also try the prepay cards, there is one called something like cashbuilder plus which charges a small monthly fee but puts it on the card upfront so it acts as a loan, after one year of paying @£5/month they record the loan as fully paid on your credit files. I believe this one is available to anyone.

    Hope this helps.

I think I should sometimes just get on with things instead of waiting for someone else to tell me yes or no. Thanks for the information you gave me originally so I did it.

Just applied for the cap 1 card and believe it or not( I didn't at first) I have been accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:j

Don't know what the limit is yet but even if its only £100 I really don't care.

Thanks again for listening to my grumbles.:D

hi cas dor as i have previously said mbna call reps are unaware of this card if you apply on line and have no out standing defaults or ccjs you may be told that you need to ring mbna on a number you will then speak to a credit specialist who will offer you a card from the underwriters HOWEVER you need to apply for the mastercard (link provided on page 98 of this thread) to see if you have to phone if you get the please phone us on this number it is almost certain you will get a underwritten card all the best darcy ;o)
    you cant change yesterday
but you can make tomorrow better

    Hi cas-dor, i used darcys link https://wwwa.applyonlinenow.com/UKCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=8cl38gs03_ost&mc=SME-AP-11111-15433

just tested and it seems to be working ok now.

from what i can gather if you phone their normal number they dont know about it. you need to apply for the mastercard via this link, you will get a yes, no or be asked to phone the number they give you where you will be told you have been unsuccessful for the mastercard but they can offer you a classic visa.

    hope that helps :D

    fabulous news, well done!

dont worry about the getting on with things, i think many of us are in that 'shall i/shant i' mode, and as pauluk said, its worse than a job interview to find out about being accepted lol
