What kind of T shirt did she wear into school?
What are the school colours?
I'm very surprised that the school would complain so quickly about a uniform colour T shirt being worn for one day.
I do think she should be in uniform though as it's a long time until summer holidays and being summer it is likely that they will have their jumpers off.
Do they never wear summer dresses? Could be one way around it.
You need to communicate with the teacher though.
When DD first started school we went out walking one weekend and she tore her heels to pieces. Rather than keep her off school because she couldn't wear shoes I spoke to her teacher who said she could wear her sandals for a couple of days, then switch to trainers if necessary.
What we actually did was 2 days sandals then she was back to school shoes.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
FGS, just buy the girls some new shirts!!
You are going to have to buy them for September anyway, whats does it matter if she wears them for 50 days in Year 6 first? If you want to send her to a new school in new shirts then keep the 'old' ones as spares.0 -
while i agree about there being only a little time left until the end of the school year, a school shirt will be needed in september, and unless she grows that much she can carry it on. if she's growing that much, you will need to keep buying normal clothes for outside school too. as everyone has said, the supermarkets sell them dirt cheap, so i don't think cost is that much of an issue.
one thing i did think when i read the original post, however, is that the respect parents had for teachers/schools seems to be out the window. the 'they're not telling me what to do' attitude is one the kids see, and then we wonder why kids have no respect in school.
schools that prefer uniforms, and like to adhere to it, are trying instil a sense of diginity and respect in school. as parents we should back that up.Blonde jokes are one-liners so men can remember them...;)0 -
my DD hates wearing shirts so wearing a t shirt is a happy release for her.
i understand your sentiments, but that said, once she gets to secondary school she wont have the choice. high schools in my local area stick steadfast to their uniform policy, to the point where pupils are removed from the classroom and taught in isolation if they do not have a very good reason for not being in full and correct uniform.
if her boobs are an issue (and i can understand her being conscious of her developing body, especially is she is developing faster/slower than her peers) then you can pick up ladies shirts (if she wants to hide her body) or fitted blouses (to accentuate it) very cheaply from the likes of asda and primark. new look are very good for that type of thing as well, thats where i got most of mine from.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

TBH I would just buy a shirt I can understand where the OP is coming from but 'for the sake of a quiet life' I would just buy one and keep as a spare for secondary school.LBM-29/08/07
