Im with the OP to be honest.

We dont know their financial situation, we dont know wether the school does treat all students the same in the fact that certain pupils are allowed to break rules and others arent. As example, my Daughters old school certain kids were allowed to wear earrings (studs), my daughter went to school wearing them and i was called up to school to remove them...hardly fair is it, but like we all know in school teachers DO have favourites and these kids are allowed to break rules

At my daughters old primary school some kids wore black trousers and others wore grey, when in fact grey was the colour required. Royal blue for jumper, however some worke a navy blue. so I spose the point im making is we really dont know wether the school enforces uniform to the point all kids are wearing the same, so if the school does not make all the kids the same then id be inclined to not buy new shirts if I didnt have to. But on the other hand if all kids were the same then yeah id buy the shirts just so my daughter wasnt different from the rest.

i bought new white shirts for my son near the end of year 6 but i reasoned that he could wear the same shirts when he got to high school because he won't have grown out of them by then. that was about a year ago and he is still wearing them but i appreciate that not all children grow as slowly as mine.

sorry just wanted to respond to this bit. But for me 1st day of secondary school I want my Daughter in new school uniform. I dunno, maybe its just me but its what ive always known, new school, new uniform...is that just me or do others feel the same

Just playing Devil's Advocate here a bit.....but isn't that a bit like saying you will only keep your standards high if everyone else does? I tend to feel you should always strive to live in a certain way regardless of what everyone else does. If the school has asked for uniform to be worn and it's do-able....then is it really reason enough not to do it because A) some others don't do it and B) it will only be for a while?

I should add........these were only my first thoughts......I'm not looking to argue over them....I don't care enough to bother making statements simply to provoke reaction, they're just simple comments, that's all. Feel free to ignore me.

As for your second post...I agree with you personally but I know lots of people who dont feel 1st day new clothes is all that important and their kids often wear last term's stuff. We're a varied bunch aint we? :D

I agree it's like saying other parents don't brush their kids hair so I'm not going to brush mine. It is just a bit of a silly argument. If the thread title was "5 days till the summer holidays" then my reply might be a bit different. But 51 days?! That is nearly 2 months!

If it was 2 weeks until the end of term fair enough but it's still quite a while. Sounds like the school is just trying to uphold its standards. You should be encouraging your daughter to want to look smart and be proud of her school. Even if other parents aren't bothered about what their kids wear to school doesn't mean everyones standards should slip. For the sake of a few pounds just buy a shirt....maybe get a slightly larger size that she can wear next year?

Just write a simple note saying something like

"My daughter hs outgrown her school top and will be wearing a plain t-shirt for the rest of this term"

Simple and to the point! :D The teacher may just think your daughter is being a rebel and wearing something different without your consent. Usually if you inform the school they are ok with this :D

    Hope this helps. :D

she wore a t shirt yesterday hence the comments !!!
Ok, then the shirt from a few days ago.

Edit... you've missed the date of my post.

Yester day you wrote "her school shirts are way too small now so i let her go in a t shirt today"

Yesterday I replied to let her wear the one she wore 'yesterday' ie the day before mine and your posts

    today you replied as above.

The day before yesterday, ws she in a school shirt?
Has she grown so much since then that it really wont do for another day or two?

You can get cheap shirts from lots of places these days, if shes quite well developed then maybe go for a ladies shirt so they fit her boobs? they usually start at size 6/8 which should be fine, and if they are a tad loose then that is good as shes got more room to grow.

Id never come up with a silly excuse like this, think you're maybe just taking this too far. Why cause such a fuss over buying two new shirts?! id understand if you had a couple of weeks left and was asked to buy a particular item from the school shop-ie blazor with logo on it etc which arent cheap.
