I agree with wishiwasarichgirl, maybe your DD just wants to fit in, I know my DD wouldn't want to be too different, shes also in Y6, kids can be cruel for the pettiest things like not wearing the right uniform.
We are not talking much money for a shirt or two from the supermarket. I wish all lifes problems could be solved quite as easy and cheaply.
my DD hates wearing shirts so wearing a t shirt is a happy release for her as for "buying cheap " shirts she is 11 yrs old 5ft 2 and has boobs ,the cheap shirts are for rake thin flat chested girls ! as for being too different she is still in grey trousers and a school fleece that she wears all day so the t shirt is rarely seen anyway. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To be honest for the sake of my dd not getting singled out by the teacher, and for £2, I'd buy the bloomin shirts
You have to pick your battles and this isn't one I'd pick.
i dont see this as a battle ! just a minor irritation , my mistake i did not realise my posts HAD to be life or death events.!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

They are very cheap from supermarkets, and inthe meantime maybe she could wear the one she wore yesterday....or did she outgrow it overnight!!
she wore a t shirt yesterday hence the comments !!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I think the point is that this is no big deal since you can now get shirts so cheaply. No need to spend loads.
Of course if the OP's daughter will only wear the highest quality branded shirts, then that's a different matter and she's got a problem. (Or maybe more than one, lol.)
my DD has no problem wearing cheap clothes . im guessing your post was just to try to get a reaction well guess what ! id did not work .:mad:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Anyone who can't afford £2 to provide clothing for their child is clearly either not claiming the benefits they are certainly entitled to, or they are spending the money elsewhere.
I suggest it is that latter.
please feel free to quote where EXACTLY i said i could not afford new shirts ! :mad:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I am a 23 year old 5'7" with boobs and I bought a plain white shirt from primark for £4 the other day.0 -

Wow....you REALLY need to take a step back and chill out a bit. You are being overly sensitive and are reading things into comments that aren't even there.
I was answering the previous poster to me, with an explanation of why I felt people were making the suggestions they did.
The last comment about branded shirts was a jokey throwaway remark....it was certainly not designed to annoy you or to 'get a reaction'.
Maybe if you were less uptight about all the responses you would have realised that.
Sorry, but judging by your replies to posts and the tone used in them (as conveyed by angry smilies and exclamation marks), you obviously feel annoyed (with no reason to be imo).
Read the thread again in a less judgemental way and see if you can read the posts in the way there were written.Herman - MP for all!0 -
What exactly is the issue here?
Clearly it's not that you can't afford the few quid for the shirt as you've said as much...Is it because your dd PREFERS to wear a t-shirt and you're happy to give in to her?
For the record, my kids' school is full shirt/tie uniform, my 5 year old hates shirt collars with a passion, but is told that's the rules and they're not there to be broken.
For the record, we're in Scotland, where school uniform isn't compulsory at any level.0
