my DD hates wearing shirts so wearing a t shirt is a happy release for her as for "buying cheap " shirts she is 11 yrs old 5ft 2 and has boobs ,the cheap shirts are for rake thin flat chested girls ! as for being too different she is still in grey trousers and a school fleece that she wears all day so the t shirt is rarely seen anyway.

Fleece in July - sounds a bit stinky

    Hi

I don't think the op wanted help - she just wanted people to agree with her:rolleyes: She should have gone to the vent board.;)

    Shirt form supermarket £2.50
    Crop top/bra from Primark £2.00
Going to school decently dressed and the same as my pals...priceless.

2 shirts at £2.50 each, so £5 for 50 days wear, that's a rate of 10p per wear.

How many of us can claim to have clothes that have that ?

Bargain jeans for £4.50 that are in the back of the wardrobe cos I grew out of them - £2.25 per wear cos I only wore them twice.
Lovely dress bought in sale for £20 - never worn cos I didn't have a wedding to go to that year.

If the OP has nothing barely worn in her wardrobe, then she can freely stick two fingers up at authority and refuse to buy the shirts for her growing daughter.;)

I kinda felt when you said "shame on you as a mother" was out of order.

Agree with this. The comment wasn't necessary.

Q-D or any type of cheap shop like this often sell polo shirts for £1, for less than a price of a loaf of bread its not worth battling with the school over or getting uptight on an internet forum, you can always use it after to polish school shoes to get the extra use out of it :)

she has come home saying her teacher expects her in full uniform tomorrow ![[ yeah fat chance of that !]

Has your daughter maybe just *said* that the teacher has told her that because she WANTS a new shirt to get you to buy one so that she fits in with everyone else?

my DD is in y6 ,soon going to comprehensive school ,her school shirts are way too small now so i let her go in a t shirt today, she has come home saying her teacher expects her in full uniform tomorrow ![[ yeah fat chance of that !] how would you word a letter tomorrow basically saying this is what she ll be wearing untill she leaves [uniform is not compulsary just their preference]

If you want to comply with a uniform policy and stick 2 fingers up to the school at the same time, then get her the top for the new school and write to the school, explaining that you see no point in buying their uniform for however long it will be.
