Welcome Procrastinator! The most important thing is that you're getting all the nutrients you need so there's no need to cut out the nuts etc, in fact the protein will help you lose weight. Post as often as you can for lots of support.
10past6, that's brilliant! You may have had some help from here and other threads but it's your decision to change and hard work that are paying off so well done!

Happy Birthday Wendy danceparty.gif Better late than never:D
Hey, great to here from you QT!!
10past - that is wonderful to hear you can taste the differnce. Re your earlier post - it can be a bit more expensive at first when you have to buy in basic ingredients for new recipes. But you are learning all the time and hopeful you'll gradually find which meals you want to try again and next time you'll have the ingredients there ready .
granny - it was very difficult not giving the poor young dr's the answer, but the examiner was sitting right next to me!! I had to be consistant with each Dr: of course I wore my best pink matching undies but sadly only one tried to undress me to be told that wasn't necessary in my case. I asked for one student to receive an automatic fail for referring to me as a 'middle aged lady'. Damn cheek:rolleyes:
They were giving away free flakes in town today: the battle of MSE vs WL. The freeby impulse won:D . Just eaten your chickpea and sweet potato thingy kpc. Very tasty and filling. Stomach feels enormous though(was taken out to dinner last night by friend unexpectedly: a great time but it envolved banoffie pie. It's good to live and have a good time, but the treats seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment and I can't offset with exercise, so I need to watch it. Stupid thing is I don't even like flake that much, but it was there so I ate it.
Vix - it makes total sense - don't add to your stress by 'failing'. Give yourself a break to chill and not think. Petrichor - good to hear from you: hope you are okxx
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Also, I have a lot of potatoes to use up and wondered if anyone has nice tasty potato meal recipes they can suggest that aren't too fattening please?
first :j :j :j :j then MIL was here at the weekend and she made with pots corn beef and potato pie not sure calories fats etc but the kids and OH thought it was lush and could not get enough of it...

boil pots in water do not add salt as corn beef is salty enough....
add onions diced to the boiling pot, I also added carrots to get the kids eating veg but the MIL does not do that....
Wait for the pots to cool down completely and mash with the corn beef ,add a dash of worcestershire sauce if liked, put in shortcrust pastry (MIL used Jusroll shortcrust but there I have been told on GC cheaper pastry than that) cook for 25/30 mins gas mark 4 or until pastry has turned golden, remember all you are cooking by that stage is the pastry as the pots, onions are all cooked, drained and mashed, lovely it was so I am told and the perfect way to use up lots of pots (make a huge pie and freeze the rest or make them into cornish pastie type looking things and freeze those) :D

I think you do need a rest Vix, you seem to have been non-stop lately! The sports bra thing is likely to be ongoing - took me weeks to find a good fit last time  I've ordered four different styles online today so we'll see what happens. What's the betting all four will be returned :p

Hi QT thanks for popping in and good luck with your final exam!

Glad you had a lovely birthday Wendy!

Hello Procrastinator! Welcome to the thread. There are a few of us daily weighers here ;) If you ask me 1lb/week is the perfect pace, so best of luck with the rest of your weight loss.

Mumoftwins glad to see you back posting here again. What does "I-T" stand for in your post :o I bet it's something really obvious, sorry...

Hope you get your utility bills sorted out Petrichor. I'm having a 'mare with mine, since I realised how much in credit I am I've been trying to get some money back and/or lower DD's... ha! I might have to go and have a vent over on the utilities forum about that :rotfl:

Unfortunately I have to confess to having a really awful day foodwise today. I am just about to go and make up a food package of some of the junk that's in this house :rotfl: and give it to some lucky recipient :p

I'm somewhat stupid, when I started out on this home cooking adventure, I lookd at various recipes on this site, and noted down then purchased the ingredients.

Then I found this thread (so pleased I did) which has various different recipes, I have purhased some basic ingredients:

As I say, I took most of the ingredients from this site, I'm a bit embarassed to be honest, if anyone from the OS threads could see what I've spent, I doubt they'd be pleased.

I'm hoping in the long run it will work out cheaper, just a question of me finding recipes that I can use the ingredients on.

There are a lot of recipes on this site, although I get confused as to whether they are healthy towards weight loss.

    Sorry for the long post.

    Hello

    Couple of points :-)

Never feel embarrassed about stuff on here. someone will ave done things far worse or in a more spectacular style for sure. and a lot of he ingredients you bought will be useful. Besides mistakes, or more importantly what we percieve to be mistakes, are what makes us learn. You've stocked up on ingredients to help you along your road to discovering cooking, once you're a more onfident cook you'll know what stuff you'll use a lot of and what not :D

With regard to whether recipies are healthy or not then I think you just need a little mental checklist and a little common sense approach.
If soemthing is quite high in veg and natural ingredients then you'll be filling up on lots of lovely nutrition.
If It looks like it has way way too much oil then experiment and use a little less.
some ingedients can be swapped around for a lower fat/more natural one.
If its cake or bread related then in my opinion and i will get kicked off here for this.... here is little room for manouver in making it healthy....and still retaining ultimate yuminess so make it good and enjoy less of it.....

There are a gazillion cookery tricks to be learnt through experimentation e.g. if you'r doing a stir-fry and its loking like it needs a tad more oil towards the end add a splash of water instead :D.

By cooking from scratch you'll be eating a healthier diet by default as you're veg will be fresher :-)

Loads of recipies out there to try and if you're at a loss for healthy-fying some at the minute why not pop to the library and borrow a low fat cook book and give those a whirl...

Meh....I'm just rambling now and not being much help

    cheery pip

Oh!!! any wilting or left over veg...chop it up and pop it in a sospan with some stock..you'll ahve homemade soup in no time which you can freeze

    Hi Everyone!

I managed ti cycle 7 miles today and was 190lbs this morning ... Only 1 lb away from hairdo!

Hi Procrastinator, I too am new, I only joined a few days ago. I weigh myself every day as well, sometimes twice. I do this even when I'm not trying to loose weight - I find it interesting to know how weight fluctuates (or I'm just completely obsessed!) I do a low carb thing myself, but that would be very limiting for a vegetarian.
