Congratulations on the losses Serenity, Annie, Raphael & Lois!

Pleased to say I'm not spoiling the party, as I can report a 0.5lb loss! :D

Happy with that, it's the same amount I lost the week before, on the same calorie intake (1400/day) but less exercise and without 2x school walk each day, so that's positive.

Only 0.5lb still to go, then I can get back to trying to maintain!

I am off to do my monthly grocery shop now :) Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all
I'm feeling all out of sorts this morn. Have watched my weight fluctuate every day between 1 and 2lb gain. What is the point of denial when it does no good. Have really upped my walking and I know I still haven't reached my 10k a day target but some days I have done 15k so surely that should help even things out. This is a huge improvement on my previous state when I probably didn't hit 10k in a week. I gave in on Sat and had a bar of choc as I couldn't see why not. I am veggie and have been eating salads and soup, spag bol made with quorn, curry made with lentils and spinach. Tonight I shall finish off the bean stew from yesterday and I have my weekly 2hr yoga class. I don't want to have to starve, have never counted calories or joined a club, is there no other way?

Hi, I used to weigh myself all the time and I think that's why I always gave up so easily, because I couldn't see a weight loss.
Also if you are doing plenty of exercise then you won't necessarily lose weight as muscle weighs more than fat but I bet your body shape is changing.
I have been really tempted to get on the scales today but I won't as I've only got 2 days 'til weigh-in.
I've joined WW points plan (£15 back thru quidco, so only £25 for 3 months) I've never been on a plan before but I'm finding this one ok (I know it's only been a few days but it 's all pretty straight forward) and I'm definately not starving.

Whereabouts are you in the south east?
I think you are doing great just stay off the scales for a few days.:T :T
  • Weighing yourself every day is not a good idea as many peoples weight naturally fluctuates daily (I know mine does)
Stick to weekly weigh ins, this way if you do fluctuate up you are not aware and therefore do not get down about it. If you have only a little to lose try weighing every fortnight.
Good luck and keep going - all the exercise will show eventually sometimes it takes a while to register especially if you have just started a new and more intense regime.

Yes I know but it keeps my mind on what I am trying to achieve. I am only 5ft 1 and being a size 18 looks ridiculuous on me, clothes just don't fit properly even in the petite ranges. I'm short with a big tum (bigger than when I was pregnant) and it gets me down. I was slim untill I was 30, never had to watch what I ate or learn about calories. I have declined cakes, biscuits, treats galore, I have eaten salads and upped my activity it makes no sense to be putting on. When I do loose it is something like a 1lb every two weeks.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I stayed off the scales for years. Now I think I'm making up for it. I get bored very easily and give up so for the last few weeks I have been happy to weigh each morning and remind myself I need to change. However I'm feeling lost at the moment as nothing seems to be moving. I went to the library on Sat to try and find some inspiration and picked up Rose Elliots Low carb veggie plan but reading through have decided that is so not for me. I am happy to reduce carbs but not cut them out completely especially as I feel I need the beans for protein. She advocates upping dairy intake for the protein but that feels too wrong to me. Lots of tofu ideas which I will try but I don't want to be eating it every day plus I am cooking for a family not just myself so what ever I do has to suit us all. Incidently by dd(17) and ds(15) are both slim bordering on underwieght so I have to ensure they get enough good stuff. Myself and OH are the ones who need to loose a couple of stone.

  • Oh well off to work now.
Breakfast has been two hard boiled eggs and two glasses of water.
Lunch will be an apple and some carrot and cucumber sticks.
Dinner will be remains of yesterdays bean stew. I won't have any pasta or potatoes with it. There may be a little salad left I can have. Now tell me why should this make be put on???

Try not to get down, I've been where you are and it sucks I know ( I still have over 7 stone to lose) You feel deprived and when the scales show nothing it just makes you feel worse. Just hang in there and keep going with the exercise. I am no expert but I think you could be eating too little. You need 3 solid meals a day with healthy snacks, could you try eating 5/6 smaller meals a day? Someone on here is very good with calories and could let you know roughly what you are eating and how many you should be having to lose weight. I know when I was doing SW people often failed to lose weight because they simply weren't eating enough.
Keep going and keep posting on here, it is a great support for anyone.

Hey everyone. Hope all is well.

Im in a mood cos i have to start my dissertation proposal.

I think its going to be based on the positive and negative impacts of tourism to benidorm. Trouble is i need to narrow down the question and i dont know how!! I feel like getting a megaphone and screaming a swear word beginging with F down it for a very long time. Like i wanna punch a bed. That is how i feel about this dissertation already, and all i keep hearing is, "pick a subject you like cos you'll hate it in the end" I bloody well hate all of it already!

Ok i feel a tad better :p I think i should take up yoga. ha.

Im thinking (with the weight loss) of weighing in every month instead of a week. Its really hard for me to lose anything, and i know i wont lose anything during a week, but 4 weeks might be a bit different! Might not get so down when the scales keep saying 10 stone 4 every sodding time i stand on them. Anyway, i'll see how it goes. Im going to measure myself today aswell and see if those numbers go down, might make a bit of a missyg excel graph out out of it :p

see ya later folks, have a good monday.

Pro, I think you are really not eating enough: you body has likely gone into panic mode, thinking a famine has arrived and it's hanging on like mad to your excess weigh. 'Dieting' shouldn't be such an ordeal of deprevation. My suggestion is you need to keep looking for away to do this that is sustainable: a new way of eating that gives you pleasure as well as weight loss. I would be totally depressed if all I could eat was your above list. For breakfast I have had 28g muesli, loads of 0 fat plain yog with chopped banana and grapes on top. For lunch I will have a baked potato (around 227g in weigh, so medium size) with loads of low fat cottage cheese and 42g of grated half fat tasty mature cheddar, grated carrot with 28g saltanna mixed in it & sliced plum tomatoes, lettuce & crunchy sprouted raish seeds. Dinner - roastchicken (skin removed) & buckets of sprouts, green beans, brochli and gravy & mashed rast squash. Pudding - muller light toffee yoghurt with sliced banana & 1 gingernut biscuit (mini HM banoffee pie! Delicious). For snacks I will nibble of cold ham, hard boiled egg, raw veg, quorn sausages(I follow the SW plan). I will not go hungry and I will lose weight. I am unable to excercise much due to ill health. I have lost over 2 stone eating like this. I'm not saying you shoul do SW, I'm just offering this as an example of eating plenty of food is possible, it's just working out the best choices for you and your lifestyle.
Bright idea -well done on how you handled the ex. His behaviour was a disgrace and obviously deliberately taunting and unpleasant. And although it is easy for me to say, you are well shot of a chap like that. I hope you realise you are worth so much more and if you can focus on your own well being as much as possible, that will be the ultimate revenge.
Well done missy & annie - 10% there:j . Good luck with the hosp Victory.
Thanks for the info on alkaline/acid eating serenity - very interesting. I tried food combining many years ago and that was part of it too.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
