Yes, assuming it is Beanie, think it normally runs for about 5 weeks. Didn't know this one was on TBH.

    frozen mashed potatoes

    CHEAT!! :D

Cooking at home can seem like it's more expensive, but as you use most of the ingredients in a couple of dishes it spreads the cost.

For example I made cottage pie tonight,

Heat mince & onions in a saucepan, when mince browned add a beef stock cube.
Add chopped mushrooms, peas & peppers to the mince.
Spoon into an oven proof dish, top with mash & a sprinkle of cheese and grill until cheese is golden.
I add chopped spring onions to my mash for extra flavour, I also made enough for 2 dishes, and I've thrown one in the freezer for a lazy dinner another day.

I can't remember the exact prices, but something like this,
    Bag of frozen mince = £1.05p 750g (I used 1/3rd bag so 35p)
    Half an onion = 20p
    Half a tin of peas = 16p
    1/3rd pepper = 32p
    Potatos (75p for 2.5kg) = 20p
    Spring onions = 30p

= £1.53 for 2 cottage pies (plus a little more for the sprinkle of cheese), I think frozen cott.pies are about £1 each.

Pasta is nice and cheap too, I buy a 1kg bag in asda for £1, add anything you want to it. My fave is chopped cooked chicken & whatever veg I have in the fridge, peppers, cucumber, tomatos, peas, sweetcorn, broccolli, runner beans...you get the idea :D

And fresh mackerel is lovely, alot better than tasteless cod in breadcrumbs.
Just put a sprinkle of marjaram mixed into a blob of butter & spread it on the fish. Wrap the fish loosely in tinfoil & bake in the oven for 20 odd mins. Gorgeous :p

    Hi X_raphael_x

Yes, I guess I am a cheat

Thanks for the post, I am, honestly, I really am going to make an effort to start home cooking, I just need to motivate myself :o

I do have mackerel, but I buy it in a bag ready to eat, I've never had it the way you describe, something I'm going to try.

wendy, I have had a terrible nights sleep too, think it was because it was so hot.
