Have you worked out what calorie intake you should be aiming for?
    Hello missy

No, tbh, I find all the information on the ready meals far to complicated, it really does my head in, I used to spend over 2 hours in a supermarket trying to understand and comparing all the information on the boxes.

I've no idea what my daily calorie intake shoud be.

have a great weekend vix! many thanks for your thoughts guys. Pet, you're right, there probably isn't a compromise on this, but I've always maintained i don't want kids - unfortunately he's just started getting broody out of nowhere. I think a few nights on his own at his mum's thinking about what it would really mean to be apart will have put things in context. The completely mad thing is, we just aren't a position to have one even if i wanted one! He's away virtually every weekend without me, i work 5 days and 2 nights, he works 5 days and 5 nights . . . . I wanted to get a small pet of some sort and we realised that it just wasn't fair. So a child? forget it! oh yeah, and we're skint. Fledging small businesses do that to you i suppose. Still, I didn't use it as an excuse to overeat so i'm pleased about that. And REALLY looking forward to my treat tomorrow night!

    Hi Lemon Drop

Both my OH and I are on a similar journey to you. We are using India Knights Idiot proof diet book - and are both 30lbs off since January (although I have to saw it is a little hard going at the moment)

So good luck - and keen to swap healthy cheap low carb recipes

    Hello everyone

Far to many members to mention individually for the warm welcome I've received to this thread, however, may I thank each and everyone for the support and offers of advice.

I'm going to view the recipe section on page one, and hopefully, find something that extremely basic to make.

One question please, I've mentioned about my financial situation, yet I've heard many times that it's cheaper to home cook than purchase ready meals, I've always been confused by this, how can it be?

For example, I purchase chicken pizzas from Iceland for £1.50 each; to cook my own would surely be more expensive?

Sorry if this sounds a stupid question.

If anyone is in need of some inspiration, watch BBC2 now, about a group of disabled teenagers crossing the Andes with a friend of mine. This series never fails to give me a sense of inspiration and perspective x

10past6, honestly it's cheaper! Tell us what kind of things you like eating and we'll help you with some basic recipes to try. Hi Lemondrop and welcome to our lovely thread!

Im off to brighton tomorrow brighton belle! Picking up those pots and gunna dip our feet in the sea. Will be nice to see brighton on a sunny day, rather than a cold blustury rainy one :p

Hope everyone has a good weekend! x
Vix, relieved on your behalf that exams are ooooovvverrrrrr:j . Lovely to hear of your optimism for the next 10 years:T . Have a fab time in Brighton - lots of extra things going on for the Festival, and if it's hot and sunny tomorrow the seafront will be rammed:D . I'm planning to nip into town for an emergency warm weather clothes shop with minimal funds, then off up on the Downs pm to join OH manning the NT trailer (except he'll be being paid:A ).
Hi Ted - I've tried the atkins diet and enjoyed many aspects of it being a meat and cheese fan, but I couldn't sustain it. I know others that have 'failed' on it becausue ultimately they couldn't sustain it so they join the same statistic as the 'calorie counting high failure rate'.
That doesn't mean I think it is no good - it clearly works well for those that can. It's brilliant that it is working for you:T .I am an avid fan of SW - I too can and do have a full cooked breakfast, never drink alcohol, take little exercise due to health probs and have lost 2.5 stone and maintained that fairly easily for 5 months now. No counting, more balancing a little like food combining (which also has many science based facts backing it). I do just think different ways of eating suit different people. I find other's stories of sustained sucess just as inspiring on here. What we don't know about the lifestyle of our ancestors before farming,is what health issues they had or their life expectancy. That's isn't a trick comment, just a genuine thought. I'm not trashing what is working for you at all.

Big welcomes lemon drop - look forward to hearing more about your journey as you progress - do keep posting!
10past6 - I'm sure someone will be along to help soon. I never eat pizza so can't help, but no question is ever a stupid question - we're a friendly bunch here.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
