Welcome 10past6, glad you found us! I understand your 'hopeless in the kitchen' remark and I really think we could help you with this, as well as the Grocery Challenge thread you asked for. This could help with your financial situation as well as your WL so if you're interested, please just ask away.
BB, hugs, hope tomorrow is better, glad you enjoyed your day.
Ajax, have a lovely holiday down my way!
Efrieze, I noticed the 5k mentioned on FB, well done you!! :TI wasn't sure if it was something you've been doing for a while, that's so brilliant! Okay, so confession time from me - Suggs's decision to run London has also inspired me to try and work on my fitness, see how far I can get. (I've set up a blog about it). So a big thanks to Suggs and everyone else who makes this thread so inspirational :T:heartpuls

...KPC I'm sorry to read that that problem has reared it's head again, but I'm not surprised. Unfortunately it's a problem that, to me, doesn't have a compromise, as one or the other of you will end up being unhappy. I do hope though that something can be worked out, but if not I wish you the strength to deal with whatever happens

Also, thanks granny, efreeze and missyg: it is the acceptance of each other finding our own 'right way' to follow this journey that makes this such a smashing forum. Finding a way of eating well and healthily for 'me/you as an individual' and that is sustainable is the key.
Vix -yes, my dad sure has personality:D . And he is not quick and easy with his compliments so if he makes one, you know he really means it. So yes pet, it was very very nice.
Thanks bails - picking up as the day progresses. Bone tiredness makes everything more wearing at times as you know. But as my energy picks up, so does my resilliance.
Just bought a massive box of fruit and veg at cheapish wholesalers I've found. Should see us throught the weekend at least. Can't wait for my ebay shopping trolley to arrive:j .I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Ah well folloing my gain last week - I did a sneaky mid week weigh in to see if I was still heading in the wrong direction - fortuneately by being more vigilant I have stopped the decline (rather I have stopped the increase) and started to decline again. I have hopes I can get May into negative numbers by MondayI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Hey all, hating this horrible muggy weather, I feel so lethargic and can't get the 'get-up-and-go' to exercise. I went to the gym yesterday and did my set, but wasn't into it.
My car failed its MOT today, and would have cost £260 to repair, as I'm trying to sell it and only wanted about £250, it wouldn't have been worth it. So the scrappie has taken it off me for £50, and I can claim my unused road tax back (about £40).
So I now have no car, at least I'll save on insurance & diesel.

It seems to me wrong to imply that exercise or calorie counting is the best or only way of losing weight when the masses of repeat failures using calorie restriction and exercise demonstrates that mostly these methods fail time and time again.
Trying to understand the science of how the fatty acids that circulate in your blood actually get inside the fat cells and how they can be released from those cells means understanding the role of insulin. If you ignore, as do those who concentrate on calorie counting and exercise, the role of raised insulin levels in weight gain then you are doomed to failure, if not now, then in the long run.
It is the same story as with Vitamin D. For millions of years we lived outdoors wearing very little if any clothing, the levels of 25(OH)D our bodies naturally acquire and naturally stabilise at are three times than the current average UK adult ever achieves. That's why mothers breast milk doesn't flow replete with vitamin D. At some point someone has to point out the obvious fact that our bodies evolved and became fine tuned not only to run with a vit d status around 150nmol/l but also eating a low carbohydrate diet. For 2million years we never had refined carbohydrates because farming hadn't been invented. Listen to Loren Cordain's talk here and you will see how recently in evolutionary terms many of todays highly refined processed foods are.
Showing, by example, how I've quickly and easily lost a significant amount of weight not by calorie counting, not by restricting the amount of food I eat, not by any additional exercise (because of my condition) and not by spending any extra money at all is not only moneysaving but I hope useful and interesting.
Not craving booze at all makes going for a pub meal but just drinking water easy.
Not craving food all the time makes avoiding snacking easy.
Unless someone tells you that these cravings are a natural result of stimulating your fat cells by increasing insulin levels you will remain ignorant as I was until I listened to the Gary Taubes lecture,
I didn't know that fat cells communicate directly with the pancreas demanding more insulin. I didn't know that fat cells generate pro inflammatory cytokines (it's raised proinflammatory cytokines that makes my condition worse) Unless people talk about these things in public forums such as this, others will remain as ignorant and in as much pain and discomfort as I was. But until you really know and understand how your excess weight is directly contributing to your failing health you can't do anything about it. As soon as I understood I took action.
If I'd known it was easy to give up booze I would have done so ages ago. If I'd known just how easy it is to lose weight I'd have done that also. I'm sorry if my enthusiasm for low carb eating is irritating but it's equally irritating for me to see people being encouraged to go down routes to weight loss that are based on an incomplete understanding of current medical scientific nutritional research. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Hi Ted
Welcome to the thread, everyone has always been welcomed here and we all have our own ways of losing or maintaining our weight.
I am a 'maintainer' and have been doing so very successfully now for a few months. I count calories to keep a check on my intake but do not restrict food types or undertake unsustainable exercise regime. A gentle walk at lunchtime tends to be the most that I do - although I did go for a bike ride a couple of nights ago it is not the norm.
I think you will find that no one is implying that exercise or calorie counting is the best or only way.
We all take an interest in other ways of losing weight compared to the ones we are following (and they are many and varied) but would not necessarily chose to change as many have found a way which suits them and they are comfortable with it.
Thank you for posting your methods and information, it is always good to hear of other methods.

Some history, I'm on a DMP, and in the process of an IVA application, therefore I do not have the funds to attend SW / WW.
I live on ready meals, as I'm useless at cooking, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin
I dont go to WW meetings but it hasnt hindered me any. Oh and Tescos ready meals come with the WW points value already on them0 -
Ted: You cant get away from the fact that majority of people on this forum are overweight due to eating too much and not moving enough. The reasons why it fails so often is because most people cant be arsed. Take me for example, im just overweight cos i eat too much and i dnt move enough. I could go for a run right now, but i quite frankly cant be arsed. Life gets in the way, things happen where weight loss takes a back seat, people remove too much of what the body needs and ends up binging so people think theyve failed. I think thats more of a reason why people fail, than the minority of people who have other reason why they cant lose it.0

Thought someone would have said something by now!!
Exams are over for meeeeeeeeeee! Yay. Well excited. My rich friend (always a bonus) bought some champagne and wine for us and we ate a picnic in some lovelly gardners, talked of old times and had a right laugh. It was the best, got slightly tipsy which was nice also! I feel such a relief, i feel a bit like my life can start properly now! Talking of marriage and babies in the pub after the picnic, cant wait for the next 10 years!
Im off to brighton tomorrow brighton belle! Picking up those pots and gunna dip our feet in the sea. Will be nice to see brighton on a sunny day, rather than a cold blustury rainy one
Hope everyone has a good weekend! x0
