    Morning all

About to go on my run and then it's a day shopping with my friends!

I drove the car last night. It is huge and I've decided to call it The Beast. Once you get used to the size it does handle very well and the automatic bit was easy. Not sure if I could change from an manual though (kept feeling it was wrong to accelerate without changing gear!). Felt a bit like being in a big bumper car.

Hello and welcome if you are new (great bunch on here!). KPC I'm sorry to hear you are having probs. Hopefully your OH will realise that a couple's happiness has to be that, happiness for both of you. Take care hun.

Well I have to be off - just got to put a bit of sunscreen on before I go! Tatty Bye!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Welcome Lemon drop :j 80lbs may seem a lot at the start, but if you break it down into monthly targets (or whatever TH says  ) it becomes more manageable mentally, why not join our monthly challenges, they helped me a lot :j Whatever you do though, do stick to the plan you've chosen stay with us for added support :j ...

...Beanie May I ask what CP is please? Sorry if I'm being a bit dim, I've tried to associate it with your problem but still can't come up with the answer (silly me :o and I bet I'll feel sillier when you tell me!)...I can however, associate with the feeling of upset when I read a well written piece relating to the problems I have...

...BB What a great experience :j all those lovely young wannabee doctors, will you have to strip off? If not, then damn well demand that you do:rotfl:you've worked hard for a beautiful new body, jolly well show it off!!!:D ...

...Vix When my daughter finshed her degree she swore that she'd never take another exam - within 5 days she was so bored and lost, that she'd booked her Masters :D ...

...Off topic, but would some of you mind telling me what you pay each month for gas and electricity. Last night I managed to get back to doing something about switching utilities and found that our 2 direct debits total £105, I was  but I'm so out of date with things I thought it was about £80 as I just pay it out by direct debit and never bother, not very MSE I know :o . Anyway, I was wondering how this compares with other peeps and thought about you lovely lot. I shall be working out KWh later on and comparing providers, it's got me off my bum this time :D I'll do something before another disaster befalls us. Thanks peeps :T ...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Ho hum, I can report a STS for this week.
Its my own fault, I havent had time to exercise as much as normal and I'm playing about with a new calorie/exercise calculator and its making me think 'ooh I can have a naughty' every night. This coming week I *will* have a loss, I'm determined.

Thought someone would have said something by now!!

Exams are over for meeeeeeeeeee! Yay. Well excited. My rich friend (always a bonus) bought some champagne and wine for us and we ate a picnic in some lovelly gardners, talked of old times and had a right laugh. It was the best, got slightly tipsy which was nice also! I feel such a relief, i feel a bit like my life can start properly now! Talking of marriage and babies in the pub after the picnic, cant wait for the next 10 years!

Im off to brighton tomorrow brighton belle! Picking up those pots and gunna dip our feet in the sea. Will be nice to see brighton on a sunny day, rather than a cold blustury rainy one :p

Hope everyone has a good weekend! x

    Woot!!! well done Vix!

    Morning lovely people :D

I toyed with the idea of popping over to France today but decided against it for MSE reasons - I'm passing through in a few weeks anyway so I'll stock up on favourites then :p

Petrichor my gas is £34 and elec is £15 per month. (I have a credit balance on my gas of £112 and elec of £67 so hopefully those direct debits will come down a bit again at the next review).

I have assumed CP is cerebral palsy, is that right Beanie?

Kymrob I think I'll just set up an auto-congratulate-response for you m'dear! :D Well done - again!

Wendy, I've seen it suggested that increased exercise/activity can help sleep. Touch wood, I have no problems getting a good night's sleep. My sleep has got a lot better in the years after my son's babyhood, compared to before he was born. Not that I'm suggesting having a baby is the answer :rotfl: And if you enjoy a biscuit with your tea couldn't you have one, or half a one? Rich tea finger is only 25 cals or a full size Rich tea is 40 which you could break in half?

10past6 just want to say good for you for being prepared to change some of your habits and try new things :D What about starting slowly and learning to make just one dish that you really enjoy, once you've perfected that it might be easier to move onto other things?

Raph, I've never sprinkled cheese on my cottage pie but I'm certainly going to give that a go next time :D Sounds delish! Though I don't have a grill that works :o so it might not turn out as good.

    Hi Folks,

I know I've been of the radar for a while and just thought I'd catch up. ... By God, you lot can't half chat.
10past6 - if you're a bit strapped for cash and are interested in calorie counting try this calorie counting website... And as for ready meals vs home cooking, it's like Raphael says, you may spend a bit more on the initial ingredients but you use them on several meals. I find I can easily feed my family of 3 (plus dog) on about £50 per week. It takes a bit of planning but it's very worthwhile seeing how little you can get away with spending without denying yourself anything you really like. if you need any help just give us a shout.

kymrob - well done on reaching another new number - excellent Another inspirational member. It won't be long until you're one of our target members.

Welcome all new members(sorry, you're too numerous to mention) the best advice I can give you is to stick with us. You find that even if your motivation is waning a bit, if you're still on here the potential damage is limited.

well done vixon finally finishing your exams - the sense of freedom and potential for the future must be amazing.

There's so much else to say, but I wanted to add this the most -

Any of you who have been here since LW10 or less will know that Ted Hutchinson occasionally drops in with his "advice". Whilst being well meant, it usually fuels the types of debate that followed his post on this thread and are frequently more disruptive than harmonious or helpful. I'm delighted that he's found a means to lose weight that works for him, but none of us are on this thread to preach at anyone else. The point of this thread is MUTUAL SUPPORT OF OUR DIFFERING METHODS.]It would be very boring indeed if we were all following the same plan.

I'm not asking everyone to ignore him, just to be aware that he has "appeared" before, started a bit of a debate (or row if you like) and disappeared off again. Sounds terribly preachy, and I am sorry for that. It's just that these supposedly helpful people who drop in and out of the thread with their "advice" get on my nerves some times - this is one of those times.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

10past6 - just seen your shopping list, my son used to love the Uncle Bens microwave rice but you can get 2 kilos of ordinary rice for about the same price as one 250g pack - just add a bit of sweetcorn, chopped pepper and a chicken stock cube and you've pretty much got the chicken version :p It only takes a little longer to prepare but MUCH cheaper.

Vix, bit late but well done on getting through those exams! Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy your freedom!

As for 'eating plans' I could never do something where certain foods were banned. It is enough that there are some I can't eat due to allergy, so I really value the remaining choice that's available to me. I'm quite happy to control it with reduced portions and saving things for treats :)

Thanks Beanie - our posts crossed at exactly the same time! New car, how exciting! I drive an automatic too, got a bit used to them during my time in America and Canada! My local Tescos had some long floaty skirts (crinkly type) on sale yesterday by the way, £6 I think.

Looks like an inline skating day to day! Hope my son's skates still fit!
