We're getting married on September 5th at 2pm.. ooh scary!
That's why I weigh in Kilos, because it doesn't mean anything to me. Sounds stupid doesn't it, but if I weigh in lbs or stones I give up really easily because it doesn't seem to be going anywhere but if I do it in kilos a steady 1 kilo a week and I can see its all worth the effort. Its not until afterwards I mentally calculate what it is in proper weights and measures
I'm doing the race for life too, its such a great cause and I have soo many supportive friends it'd be a shame not to.:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -
Raphael! :j You're a total star that is an incredible loss
The effort is definitely paying off, you must be thrilled.
Hello Safesound congratulations on getting married, and the fantastic weight loss so far, and welcome to the thread. Yes of course you'll be a perfect 14 by Sept! NOOO problemo! Wow, a kilo a week seems a lot to me!
Tagz, pj's have to be too big, they need to be comfyI'll be shopping for summer stuff soon too as last years has all gone... all I have that will "do" for summer are 3 t-shirts and that's not enough :rotfl:
Done a weights/thigh trainer workout plus exercise bike this evening, getting used to this whole MSE thing of holding 2 weights per hand now
Don't suppose there is anyone here who lives near Guildford, Bracknell, Slough or Basingstoke ice rinks and fancies skating daytimes occasionally? PM me if interested, I'd love some company.0 -

Hope that I will soon notice a difference in weight !!0 -
Safesound: Welcome! My nans birthday was on the 5th! Always a good time of year. You'll get to a size 14 in no time!

Im sooo excited about shopping tomorrow. Its been soo long since ive been for a proper session. Trouble is i gotta go on my ownAlthough to be honest i only like shopping with matt anyway, i hate shopping with other women!

Once you have your BMR you can calculate your daily calorie needs as per the links posted earlier. This is my spreadsheet showing the formulas:
If you need the formulas for inactive, or very/extra active you can get those from the links posted before. I've just used lightly active and moderately active here (the links also explain how much exercise we are talking about).
When you've popped your BMR into the top cell, you will get a set of numbers you can use to cross reference against your calorie intake and exercise for that week, such as this:
So if I have averaged 1200cals/day for the week and been lightly active, I can expect to lose approx 1lb. If I have been moderately active I can expect to lose approx 1.5lb.
Next Monday I recalculate the BMR and pull up the next set of numbers then make my plan for the week ahead.
* Just to explain the red numbers, as 1200 is the minimum recommended intake for women, when it falls below that number I use red, to show me that it isn't desirable to try for that amount of weight loss in a week (just noticed the 1192 should have been red too... gosh this is all getting so marginal for me now - hence the micro-managing I guess...)
Hi missyg, thank you for putting up all this information. The spreadsheet I put together works very much like yours, but I had been working on 3500 cals = 1lb, rather than 500 cals = 1lb - I'm not sure why I thought it was 3500cals/lb. That would explain my 1.2lb gain if you put me between sedentary and lightly active.
At 3500cals/lb my previous spreadsheet was only a 0.4lb gain with me being sedentary - and I did think I was a bit more active than sedentary
Just to see if my spreadsheet is now correct, if you have a sec would you possibly check my figures? BMR 1223, calories intake 11613, to give 2.7lb gain if sedentary and 0.3lb loss for lightly active.

Gah, I am so stupid, just been to the gym, did all my bits ok, but room was very hot & at the end doing my cool down stretches I felt dizzy & light-headed. I know exactly why it is, cos I've eaten very little all day, a banana & a few mouthfulls of cous-cous. Stupid stupid stupid!
I decided to skip the swimming & come straight home. I've had a slice of bread & butter that should tide me over til chicken leg is cooked.
To busy to eat properly is not an excuse!!
Right, I've told myself off, now I'm off to chop some salad.
