    Hi Folks,

wow - again so many pages to catch up on. I spend ages trying to catch up and then don't have time to post. Oh well,

Anyway, a quick update as OH has just roared at me for dinner.

Day one went really well, Day 2 not so good. Trying kickstart - limited to 22 points per day and went over them, but not over my "normal" daily allowance.

Today's got off to a poor start. Only have 6 points left of my daily kickstart allowance to have dinner - those scones at teatime are a killer... I normally wouldn't worry too much about it but I'm going out for dinner on Saturday night with OH and then on to meet up with friends for a longed for night out. ... feeling the pressure of the first weigh in right now and disappointed in the fact that I can't even stick to a kickstart plan for 2 days!:o

Gotta go - been shouted at again.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

That site is one of the more 'conservative' ones I've seen for calories burned. I'm happier to take the lower calorie estimate - I'd rather under estimate with exercise, and the other way around with food :D

I tend to just take a rough estimate with exercise anyway, i.e. 30 mins exercise = 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250 cals depending on intensity. As I'm doing lots of different things the site does give me an idea of what one is like relative to another.

Got a bit of an attack of the munchies today, managed to keep it reasonably under control though. We still have too many sweets & crisps in the house, I keep putting bowls of it out when my son has his friends round, but they're not eating it fast enough!

I'll probably go for a longer bike ride tomorrow, last chance for a while with it being half term :) Might venture over to Snow + Rock :D

... 100% in agreement with this, except the paying the joining fee bit. If you act quickly, you'll catch the amnesty on the joining fee they currently have (spotted that on the back of the magazine in Tesco), meaning you'd only pay the weekly meeting fee - roughly a fiver. Also, if you did go to the meeting, you can tell them you are a shift worker and so therefore can only attend every other class. Shift workers only pay for the classes they can actually attend ;) although there's bound to be a minimum frequency involved in that. If you did that you'd only pay every (let's say) other week, and still get all your questions answered on here. Of course, if you loved it and wanted to go and pay every week, you "liked it so much you did a swap at work"

Bb I left out the concept of HeB's and HeA's for simplicity .... covered it with breakfast cereals are one of the few exceptions :D

Excellent ajax - totally agree re getting in there when joining fee waved - that would be very good value for money. I only raised the HEa's & b's becasue tagz was talking of just being able to follow recipes, not because it had occured to me you had left it out.

Missyg - re activity with your son:have you heard of geocaching. You need a GPS and I am not sure how much they are, but if affordable, it might be worth the outdoor fun. We mean to hve a go sometime as OH has a GPS already:
Have a look at these sites - there are on going games all over the country:
    http://www.geocaching.com/
    http://www.gagb.org.uk/
Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where you use a GPS to hide and seek containers with other participants in the activity.
Wendy - have a great evening you clever clever thing! Annie - welcome back :j , ditto katmad:j
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

welcome back peeps. I was going a bit off the rails tonight but coming on here has pulled me back on i think. I am thinking quite seriously about dropping the sw bodyoptimise thing - however, i'll download everything first and see how i go without it. If i come on here and scream are there peeps who can syn count stuff for me please?

hope wendy is enjoying her night out! Dragon, how is DrD? Did the thistle mutilation do the trick?

Victory, I really think you need to read what BB said. I agree, sometimes we all need to chillax, but i remember how badly you beat yourself up at Christmas when you last did it - and i wouldn';t want you to put yourself through that again. I know you do WW - is there anything you can pig out on that's permitted? I know it doesn;t address the core problems of why you do it, blah blah blah, but as a binge eater myself, doing it on good foods helps.

    another idea for you ajax . . . . 2 actually

    Hello :)

Hi Kat(mad) and Annie, welcome back. :D

Erlqueen - I love your version of gift voucher, it's all about making it personal. Anyone can buy you a voucher or gift card, and you can spend it on anything from sexy lingerie to a new iron, but it's not the same as having someone think about who you are and what you would like. (Ajax, take note ;)).

KPC - ditch SW online, there are plenty of people here who can help you with syn values/advice etc, and there's usually someone that can pm the password so you can check it out for yourself if you need to.

I'm feeling decidedly disgruntled today - everything seems to be conspiring to annoy me... like wasting half my working day with a completely pointless meeting... like a buffet lunch that's impossible to calorie count... like trying to work out how many calories there are in a packet of instant noodles when the nutritional value on the packet doesn't make sense... and don't start me on the jobsworth insurance company that's arguing the toss about whether to pay out on a claim... and another thing, the 'view first unread' button never works anymore, it always takes me to the last post...!

Sorry, rant over, maybe a 2nd glass of wine will smooth down the rough edges - cheers!

This calorie counting business is focussing my mind, but reading posts about SW make me wonder if I should go back to it again. When I first started SW I couldn't get my head round it for ages, and I struggled with what to have for lunch as I'd been so used to buying a ready made sandwich from M&S, but the syns values even for 'healthy' choices were too high. But once I got to grips with it I found it extremely easy, the weight fell off, and I never felt deprived or hungry, as there was always free food to eat if I needed it.

As has been mentioned by others, there is some weighing required for Healthy Extras and synned foods, but as the majority of food eaten is 'free' the weighing is a minor inconvenience. I'm currently either weighing what I eat, or having to scrutinise the small print on the packet to try to calculate the calorie content, which is further complicated when the ingredients are part of a dish that I've shared with OH and I have to try to estimate what proportion of it I actually ate! Having said that, today's buffet lunch would still have caused me a nightmare on SW, AND I'd have written off all 15 syns so there'd be no glass of wine to console myself with.

All diets work if you stick to them, but SW seems to be one that consistently produces amazing weight losses like this chap who lost 14 stone, and I remember reading about a woman who lost 19 stone.

I'm looking forward to the weekend, I've taken tomorrow as a day's holiday so I've got a 4-day break, my daughter and granddaughter are coming to stay, we're dog-sitting for my son tomorrow (I love walking with a dog) and OH's health is improving all the time so we can do more together.

Apologies again for the rant, it helps to share it, gets it in perspective somehow!

    Have a good day tomorrow.

Dragon, how is DrD? Did the thistle mutilation do the trick?

katiepoppycat - it certainly helped! and he is having a lot of fun getting the scythe sharp enough to cut the grass :p

Oh poor Lois. It sounds like one of THOSE days. I have 360 of those days, but about 5 of THOSE days, and there's no substitute for that second glass of wine. Fill your boots.

Lois, do you trust yourself to religiously count calories? I admire the victorys, missys et al of this world who can focus so hard - I could never delve that deep. If there's a plan to meet me half way to help with the counting, formulate a little easy plan for me to follow, then I find that a good place to meet.

If you need any persuasion, I feel better after 4 days of SW than I've ever felt after 1 year of WW. That's no judement on WW by the way - as you say, all plans work if you stick to them, but I abused WW. I would find easy ways of leaving myself 8 points at the end of the day.... and blow me down, what a coincidence, that's just the same as a bottle of wine!!! Even though I fitted inside the points plan, that's never the way the clever people at WW designed it to be administered. With SW being much harsher on the alcohol (one of my two major food weaknesses), it helps no end.

right, so just to recap here victory: in Jan you were very happy at a target weight of 80lbs lost. You are now 6.3lbs over that target and from somwhere you desparatelywant to lose another 5lbs now so your numbers end in a 0 or a 5 and you are feeling hungry a lot....MMmmmmmm. Me thinks you might need to look at those 3 facts and see which bit doesn't compute on the Bb sanity register:D xx.

Thanks everyone for the answers and you lovely bb :Dunfortunately I have no idea what you are saying:rolleyes: :D but it sound good:D

Hunger has been an issue this week, I am my own worst enemy because OH says that is your body saying to feed it and I seem to refuse to feed it because I know I gain just for looking at food and if I start eating I have been known to eat my own body weight:rotfl: :rotfl: so I avoid at all costs whether I am hungry, the body needs it, I guess it is my control over it like saying 'no, I can eat this amount per day and anymore makes me gain so you are not having anymore, nah, nah, nah:D

I have decided to do absolutely nothing about it, like missyg says it is going to be half term, so I will be out and about, mind off hunger, food, playing and walking with the kids, will stick to what I eat and know and leave it like that, it will pass:D Also the hol is coming and I look at the bikini and know I HAVE earnt the right to wear it(all that veg :D ) I have got it into my mind that I will not be able to wear it and blow it for myself if I do what the body says it wants but I don't want...eating=weight gain:rolleyes:
