Hello peeps :hello:
Well I've had a disaster cooking today, firstly I tried to make this:
baked bean loaf:
Serves 4
SW plan: 2 syns per serving on green plan
400g can baked beans
1 small onion, finely chopped
57g wholemeal bread (6 syns or 1xHEB)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup (2 sins)
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp yeast extract (Marmite)
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
Seasoning
Make the bread into breadcrumbs. Then wet a 1lb loaf tin, and line with non-stick baking parchment. Mix together all the ingredients and turn into the prepared tin. Level the surface and bake in a preheated oven at 180*c for about 35 minutes until firm to the touch. Leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes, then turn out, remove the paper and serve warm or cold.
Serve with SW syn free potato wedges and fresh peas.
It's tunred out like a bombay mix  I think it may require more breadcrumbs.
Then I tried to make this:Coleslaw with Fake mayo - (a slimming world recipe)
6 tbsp very low fat natural fromage frais
2 tbsp white wine vinegar
2 tsp granulated artificial sweetener
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp water
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
To make the mayonnaise, mix together the fromage frais, white wine vinegar and artificial sweetener. Blend the mustard powder with the water and stir into the dressing. Season with the salt and pepper
I use the grating disc for the carrots, but use the slicing plate for the cabbage - start with 1/4 of a white cabbage and 1 medium carrot, adding a bit more of either to get the kind of mix you like the look of - sometimes I also add a little onion (1/4 medium), I have heard of people also adding apple - but I haven't tried. Mix it all together in a large bowl - add the mayo and mix thoroughly. yum! (makes quite a lot!!)
I think I may have added to much white wine vinegar, as it taste's very vinegary.
Add to that, I've put on 1 1/4lb,

I have an nice ring binder and I print recipes off and put them in sections for starters, mains, desserts, snacks, breakfasts and lunch ideas. Each of these is separated by cardboard separaters (the standard thin cardboard ones you sometimes get in the ring binder when you buy it). This works for me! but try a few ideas out until you hit on a system that works for you!
Oh just to add I put the recipes in plastic sheets so that you can take them out, take them into the kitchen and then if they get splattered you can just wipe them down
Thx, although I purchased an A5 portable folder today from ASDA, £1.47, I can simply add my printed recipes to it.
Wonderful, and thanks to those who offered their advice :A

Fantastic achievements about the inch loss and new dress size, well done! :T
Can I just say what a wonderful turn this thread has taken over the past few days. It's always been a wonderful place to be and now 10past6's desire to learn to cook has opened up a whole new side to it, one where food can be celebrated and enjoyed. So thankyou muchly to10past6 for that and to everyone else who's posting recipes/tips. KPC in particular, I look forward to learning from your expertise. And Serendis, how great to see you popping in with wise words as ever.
10past6, I've collected loads of recipes off the GC thread and my plan is to print them off 4 to a page back to back and then cut them up to put in a free A5 folder I got from Whiskas. I want to keep them in plastic sleeves like Dragon but might bump up the costs, so might try sticky back plastic if I can get it cheaply.
For the cheese lovers out there, and this may be egg sucking, a thought - pop a pitta in the toaster or George Forman with literally slithers of strong cheese inside, let it melt and then smear around like you would with butter/marg. Stuff with loads of salad and enjoy! It's amazing just how little cheese you need for this and still get a real cheese satisfaction.
As for myself, I'm still not weighing (I was tempted briefly the other day but it passed). My mum complimented me on looking slimmer yesterday and asked me if I'd weighed; it felt good to tell her I didn't have a clue how much I was. I really think it's entirely possible that I haven't really lost much weight and that I'm just wearing more revealing clothes (as in not baggy things rather than lingerie boys
) but the fact that I am wearing different things says a lot in itself. I also managed a 1 hour 45 min walk today (and last Sunday) which I am very chuffed about! :jI've yet to map it on Google Earth yet but I think it might be 5 or 6 miles.
Efrieze, I was wondering if you're thinking of entering any races this year?
As ever, I wish you all success with your WL however you're choosing to do it; thanks for your inspiration guys (and again, thanks to Suggs for reminding me that anything is possible) xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

No wonder your bake bean loaf turned into a disaster, probably some divine intervention telling you not to eat something that sounds horrid!! Only joking with you 10past.
I was late for work the other day because i was cooking a chicken breast and i didnt know what time to put the potatoes on, or the runner beans!
I wont ring up anyone now because everyone ripped it out of me the time i had to ring up my brother to ask him how to make a coffee.0 -

BAILS YOU should be chuffed:D
10past don't give up, we all have disasters, try another recipe, an easier one, one with just a few ingredients in, try going to the library and getting a starters recipe book or the ones that have pics in (can't follow a recipe without pics:D ) it will all come good in the end:D0 -

Wot no replies in 3 hours, was it something I said? :rotfl:
I've been to the poolAnd did 100 x 25m lengths in 88 minutes... a new personal best :j :j :j
By my reckoning about a 700 cals burned session and I feel much, much better for that! Undid some of the damage from yesterday hopefully!
100 lengths! Well done you. I was proud with my 42 lengths last night but can never imagine being able to do 100. Would try to up it to 50 but the friend I go with only likes to swim for an hour so 42 is a personal best. Have been at work so that is why no replies from me. Will have to go and do dinner shortly then will be out walking - only done 1500 steps so far today.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

There was a group of 8 of us going, two Army boys dropped out, as they are been posted off soon. Then the tour leader, went and broke his leg last weekend on our rugby club tour in Menorca, only got home Wednesday night after having a pin inserted, he saw the consultant yesterday, advised to stay off the leg for another two weeks. As he dropped out, so did his brother etc and now its down to two! Shame, actually a real big shame, but thats life

Thanks Vic
Vix, you can ring me up any time to ask how to make a cuppa or anything else, I'd love it :rotfl:(oh, and I noted your spa desire, I promise I'll get on the case without fail next week, I have freed up some time especially).
10past6, ditto what Vic said, don't let it put you off.
Suggsy, remember that little idea to run the marathon?... :T Sorry to hear about the cancelled trip, great news about breaking another stone barrier though! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi 10past6
My DD hates mayo so when I am making coleslaw I simply give her the carrot and cabbage with no dressing. If I am trying something new I try to taste as I go so if I don't like part I can leave it and not spoil the rest. Don't despair as someone else said we all have disasters. Are you cooking for others, have they tasted your recepies, it might be they like them? I am often supprised when I think something has gone wrong or not worked but a family member says they like it like that. Personal taste is so weird.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb
