  • Good morning everyone :hello:

Yesterday I had a HM day!! I made pizza bases, wholemeal bread and french white bread in my breadmaker! I also made flapjacks and HM mayonnaise. Tonight I'm making chilli - with flapjacks for pudding! Tomorrow I'm going to have a go at making HM pizzas. Like I said I've made the bases, they're in the freezer at the mo (ref instruction book) so I'll take them out in the morning.

We don't get paid until Weds, so the cupboards are extremely bare!! I have a tin of chopped toms, some mixed herbs, some cheese and a bit of ham. Will that be okay to use as my first HM pizza?

Yesterday I put all DD's dressing up clothes on eBay (9 dresses) that she's outgrown - they're all so pretty (Disney stuff etc) and she hardly ever wore them! I liked dressing up more than she did lol :rotfl: Anyway within 2 hours of putting them on they're already at £21 :j I'm selling them as a bulk lot - well I am absolutely delighted - because I was thinking of giving them to my (rich) bosses niece!! Hopefully I'll be able to treat the family to dinner out one night with the money (we have been so skint these last few months it would be lovely to do something "normal" people do!!

Anyway I'm going to put the last load of washing on until Weds (when I can afford some washing powder!!), packed lunches are already made (got prepared last night), and I might do 20 mins of ironing before the school run and cycling off to work!

Take care everyone - might drop in later (depends if the boss is in!!!)
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Penny-pincher - for sore throats have you got any honey around, I know it was an old fashioned remedy for sore throats of drinking honey in warm water as a soothing drink, but it does work. They discovered all honey is a natural anit-bacterial, so it not only soothes, but also makes it less likely to get a bacterial infection.

The best is the New Zealand manuka, but it costs a LOT. But normal honey works too, but not as strong.

    Hope DD feels better soon.

    Penny pincher

Lemon juice and honey in hot water is good for sore throats - also blackcurrant jam in hot water if you have nothing else is good.

I made elderberry jam and am forcing that on my daughters as "elderberry tea" as it is supposed to be great for coughs , colds and flu.

It should be fine :) I'd be inclined to gently simmer and reduce the tomato (perhaps saving on or two out to slice and muching the rest in the sauce) and add the herbs in here too.

I generally put my topping bits on first and then sprinkle grated, or thinly sliced, cheese over the top. It tends to stop things drying out in the oven.

    :)

  • Hi All,

Its my day off today so lots of housework to do. Got up late this morning, I have a bit of a hearing problem so I have a vibrating alarm clock which goes under the pillow, but it had become detached and slid down the back of the bed. OH finally woke me an hour after I should have got up. The house was like a furnace as somehow or other the heating was switched to timer. Had to switch it off quick and open all the windows it was so hot!
Done the school run, Im going to blitz the house top to bottom, put away ironing, do some washing, hang out yesterdays sheets and towels washing, dye my hair and clean a couple of windows, (I hate cleaning windows so Ive started to do them in batches) OH has requested pizza for tea so will get the breadmaker out for the base, and have an Aldi apple pie for afters. Also got to make some little cakes as DD2 has a friend for tea on Wednesday, (wont have time to make any tomorrow)

Had a clear out of winter clothes for the girls over the weekend, I now have a pile for ebay and OH has a pile in the back of his car for the recycling bin. DD2 had 6 coats in the drawer! Ive recycled 2, and one has been washed for ebay. DD1 has gone off to school in her new long next mac, looks very smart with her uniform, a couple of
people commented at school this morning (I didnt let on it was only 99p from ebay) DD2 has some really pretty Adams school blouses with pin tucks down the front. Loads of people have said how nice they are. I just smiled smugly and didnt let on I only paid £1.20 each from ebay. :D
Best go and feed the guinea pigs. Have a great Old Style day all.
  • Morning everyone :hello:

I'm in a horrible stinking mood and tired this morning, and to top it off I can feel a headache coming on  :(

The fact my whole flat is vibrating due to the builders digging up the footpath alongside me isn't helping matters and they've been at it since 7.30am  It's them that woke me up and I didn't get to sleep till gone 4am so was hoping for a bit of a lie in this morning! It's bad enough I have to put up with the noise and banging from the b******s downstairs day in day out without all this on top of it  Oh I can't wait for that letter or phone call to tell me I can finally get out of here!

Sorry, had to get that off my chest before I end up throwing something :o

Well, the kitchen was fairly clean and tidy until I walked in there this morning - just a soup bowl, plate, mug and glass to wash - but now there's the food processer, bowls, knives, chopping board and various utensils cluttering up the worktop, with no room left to do anything

Ok, so the end product of my mess will hopefully be very yummy - a mango, lime and mint ice cream - but I really don't feel like going back in there to clear up all the mess :wall: And I need to because I want to do more cooking today and I really should be thinking about getting that cinnamon loaf put on very shortly too <sigh>

Maybe another mug of :coffee: will help my brain wake up a bit ;)

  • Hello everyone,

Had a nice day today. Cleaned the house today and caught up with the ironing. I cooked a leg of lamb in the crockpot. New recipe, turned out lovely so will post in later. I also made some stock;)from the lamb shank and it's in the fridge now. Will make some soup out of it tomorrow. Did my grocery shop this afternoon.

Had lamb & roast veggies for tea and icecream, HM choc sauce mmmm, and fruit salad. I am sitting here rather full now. I've even done the dishes. Hope you all have a nice day especially to those whose day didn't start off well.

    PS. Weather warm and sunny.:D
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Photogenic I've been Money Tipped!
    Very tired today.

Ebay listings have finished : 11 items sold and my paypal account should have £51.78 in it by the time paypal fees have been taken off and I've received payment for all the items (still waiting for 3 payments). The ones I've received payment for are parcelled up and ready to post, but I need to get money out to pay for it so that will have to wait until tomorrow, plus it will give those who haven't paid yet a chance to pay.

1 lot of dishes done but plenty more to do - Thank goodness it's coming to the soup / stew season as there should be alot less washing up! Mind you, yesterday I did get to the point where there was only the frying pan to wash but then I made tea :o

DD isn't feeling too good today so I dosed her up with Vic and Calpol, gave her some tissues (one in each pocket) and took her to school wrapped up well with her hat and gloves on. I also warned the teacher that she's not 100% as she gets VERY short tempered and is likely to lash out at anyone who says/does something to her that she doesn't like  We'll have cream of tomato soup (reduced) for dinner with HM bread. Then she can put her PJs on with a fleece and get under the quilt (her summer one is now a throw over the sofa until its warm enough to put back on her bed) and watch Muppet Christmas Carol (no cbeebies today as she was naughty yesterday before going to bed.) I'll try and get the ironing done while that is on as well. Might re-arrange the livingroom sofa & chairs so I can still have a seat while ironing! (I usually stand infront of the sofa so I can sit down if my legs get tired ;) )

Oh well, I need to go and buy milk and some fruit with whats left of my housekeeping for the week. Will have to go to the local shops which includes the Co-op which means it will cost more than going to Asda, but I really don't have the energy to go there, nor the time I've just noticed! Better get my coffee drank and get to the shops.

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Hiya all :D

Well, I'm exhausted :) Went to bed late last night, had strange dreams about Mr TM spitting toothpaste on my clean duvet cover (which is actually my mum's) and cleaning it up with a dirty bar towel dipped in whiskey  Then in the dream we fell out as I (understandably) didn't want that doing to my duvet cover so when I woke up, I actually felt as if we'd had an argument - and it was most strange when he was all happy and smiling, knowing nothing of my dream. Hadn't even eaten cheese for supper or anything.

So, having had bad night, I've taken DS2 to pre-school which gave me 2 1/2 hours to do some of mum's cleaning. I've turned mattresses and hoovered them, moved furniture, hoovered every square inch of upstairs, hall, stairs and living room and dusted some of bedrooms. I have to pick my aunt up from Manchester airport tomorrow so will finish while they catch up.

Thus, I now have no inclination to clean my own house.:( Will vac downstairs and my bedroom as rest was done yesterday. Need to put last load of washing on line whilst it is sunny and make a cottage pie with loads of veg (to confuse the kids :D - just the 6 at tea today) Need to sort out some finances today by phone so will get a :coffee: and do that whilst DS2 eats his sarnie. May also stick a fruity loaf or a cake in BM.

    See ya later
