I used to do night shift for several weeks at a time; and I used to stick to nightshift routine on days off too. I really did switch my whole day leftwards by twelve hours. that way you keep your daily routines "normal" and it's much easier and less tiring.

Of course, I might just be odd :)

i work permanent nights so my body is used to the topsy turvy days now! :money:

Only time it messes up is my "days" off.. (tue and wed nights) when i have to try and make sure i get a tiny bit of sleep tue day when i get in just to take the edge of the tiredness but only maybe 3 hours or so? Then go onto a "normal" persons routine for the rest the day and for wed then on thursday - when im due back in work at 10pm.. i usually try and get up about 9am in the morning at the VERY latest. Do whatever i need to and then about 3-5pm depending how tired i am i have a catnap for an hour or three ( :rotfl: ) again just to take the edge off it. Then friday day i'll sleep all day to make up for it.

Most days i sleep at least 7 hours if not 9 or 10! hehe! Gotta admit i dont think i could do varying shifts all the time swapping between nights and days.. and when i eventually swap back to doing a "normal" day job its gonna be weird! Been nocturnal for 8 months now - forgot what daytimes are like :rotfl:

Afternoon everyone.Today i tried just one tablet in the washer and im pleased with the results and i know it worked as a pair of trousers had mud on them and that was removed.Im on the understanding that other members use soda crystals in the wash load too but i havnt been able to get hold of any of these yet, eventually found a shop that sells them but they are waiting for a delivery.

Yesterday i popped to town and decided to pop into a charity shop, something ive never done before apart from to donate stuff, its got nothing to do with being stuck up or anything its just something ive never done, well anyway i was so pleased with my 2 items i baught,a pair of levi jeans for £3.50(look brand new) and a ceramic plaque for the bathroom wall for £1.I better not make a habbit of visiting charity shops though as ive spent weeks clearing out my clutter and im the type of person who cant walk passed a bargain without having to buy it and im determined not too hoard anymore bargains just incase i need/want or will use them.Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Ouch! That is a killer shift pattern. All I can suggest is sleep LOTS. I can imagine being permanently tired doing that shift. I've worked quite a few shift patterns over the years but never one as bad as that. It shouldn't be allowed!

Come to think of it, with all these new EU Regulations and stuff it might not even be legal any more to have a three shift pattern. Probably wishful thinking but it ought to be true :)

Isn't that what they call the "continental" shift pattern that was introduced several years ago - three shifts with 6am, 2pm and 10pm start times? I remember my ex doing those when he had to go into 'proper employment' to supplement our business for a while, but I'm sure he did more than 2 days of a particular shift at a time, more like 4 on - 4 off doing 12 hr shifts I think. It was certainly heavy going though, especially with a family, and I used to have to nag him to go get some sleep!

I thought of going to freecycle, but there was nothing there that I needed! It was a bit of a bummer as I figured I could replace them when funds allowed, so im thinking of putting a wanted in there and see if anything turns up. The only problem with a sofa though is that we have no way of transporting it, I could get my boyf to go to his parents and loan the Previa but as its in wiltshire, it would still cost us around £50 in petrol to bring it up to bristol and take it back again, which isnt really practical as we dont have that kind of petrol money!

I also have another q - I bought a bottle of 'distilled malt vinegar' as it was the only clear vinegar I could see - is that the stuff you all use as your cleaner? Incidentally, it was only 36p in Morrisons so if it isnt then it isnt an extremely costly mistake! I used it in the kitchen and it worked (esp fantastic on the steel sink and drainer) but it is a bit smelly. Did I put too much in?

Bummer. 2nd hand shops would deliver for a small fee wouldn't they? Bound to be way less than £50 petrol costs. Anyway - you can always ask and if they say no then don't buy the whateveritis. If they know they can't make a sale without delivery...

Yes that's the right stuff and yes you used too much :)

With the exception of applying it neat to BAD lime scale most people use an old spray bottle and in it put 1-2 tbsp vinegar, 1-2 tbsp lemon juice (optional) and 5 or so drops of an essential oil (also optional) and tea tree oil is a good one because it is also a natural antiseptic.
