  • afternoon all :) , Not much o/s round here as I've been at work since 8 and I'll be here until 8 tonight but never mind.

Had some more of my HM soup last night for tea and it was nummy so I suppose there are some benefits to the colder weather (that and ginger cake and custard :D )

I've been a good MSE'r today and brought in all my food and drink (other than machine coffee...free) with me and my desk is now a collection of washed out empty plastic boxes and bottles :D . I worked out that if I don't wash them out properly here I'll never be bothered when I get home and therefore won't get so organised for tommorrow. Now however they'll just need a quick rinse while I heat my soup and it's sorted :)

I hope everyone has a good weekend (you can all o/s for me!)

    Afternoon all,

Bright and breezy here today. So cold last night - ended up with an extra blanket on the bed...have changed the bed today and put on a flannelette sheet and the leccy blanket...should help.

Got stuck in to to sorting the freezer this morning - we had condensation on the outside of it - not a good sign but we're hoping it's just an air flow problem - we've given the back a good hoover off and completely defrosted it, we'll see how it goes! Got an "odds and sods" tea tonight, all the bits of leftovers that have been frozen down that now need using up... small portion of curry, pork goulash, chilli, thai curry...there's some potato rostis, some savoury mixed flavour mini eggs and a jam roly poly and fruit strudle....an instereting mix but quite nice to have small tasty bits for a change.

Took DD's out to the beach earlier - they took their roller blades and skated for miles....both completely worn out now but was nice to get some fresh air and spend some time together as a family.

Need to get some bread made for breakfast tomorrow then it will be off to do the supermarket shop, won't buy too much frozen stuff incase it decides to pack in  Then home for paperwork and tidying up for work on monday.

DH is just going to make some soup for tomorrow - last of our frozen chicken stock, couple of chicken thighs and all the ends of packs of frozen veg.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  • Well, had a few hours to myself today - horaah. Went to Preston but realised I'd not got my Boots card with me and then decided couldn't be bothered to window shop anyway - so headed straight for Tradex. Was just going to look and picked up a couple of choccy advent calendars for boys - ended up spending £105  However, that's a good few Xmas pressies sorted, for loads less than I would have envisaged, so all in all a great deal :D

Found a maccy D's voucher in my bag - for 1 meal. Now, aversed as I am to maccy D's, free food IS free food, so I trolled off in there and had one of those new deli sarnies with a side salad and bottle of water. It was OK I suppose :)

Best of all - went to Makros afterwards (only spent £20) but whilst waiting at the checkout, got talking to the chap in front of me who was buying his (very considerable :D) bodyweight in washing powder. Guess what - we ended up talking about vinegar in the wash (I had 2 x 5L bottles in my trolley) :D And to cap it all, he's a hotelier in Blackpool so I have a phone number to call. He will even let us have S/C flats (luxury block I'm informed) for 1 night at £15 pp. Bargain, so I will be investigating this later on :D

Right, on account of the fact that someone has filled my head full of cotton wool today and I keep going dizzy, I'm off for a surf then will try to get boys to sleep early, as Mr TM is out.

Keep a look out for the updated OS meet thread.

  • I love Makros-have to get there next week for there BOGOF wash powder, loo rolls and some other bits i cant remember now..lol

Been to my nanas today and actually saw my sister for the first time in weeks! :rotfl: My mum brought me a jar of her homemade Strawberry jam (by request) so I might just make a jam sponge pudding in the microwave for my supper :drool:

On the way to my nans we stopped off at a craft shop - very expensive but I wanted another look around. I actually wasn't inspired which makes a change! Then we went to what we call "The Cat Shop", its a shop for the Cat Protection league or something, and I grabbed me a couple of bargins - 2 jumpers for me £1 each (one of which is a thick, chunky rolled neck which will be lovely and warm :j ), a rupert the bear mcdonalds type toy for DD (she spotted it and wouldn't put it down  ), and three tops (Next, Simpsons & M&S) for DD for only 50p each which is much cheaper than some charity shops around here :D

DD is having some soup (from the freezer) and homemade bread (also from the freezer) for her tea and I'm having some later when she's gone to bed. I'm also planning on a quiet night either watching TV while ironing (almost all the washing is dry :j ) or just lazing about. I might just have the night off tonight apart from dishes. I can always do the ironing tomorrow :o

Absolutely knackered after digging up concrete all day.
I wanted to put my pvc greenhouses on the old concrete base that the last owners had their greenhouse on but it was too small, so we thought we'd just take off the concrete and stand the greenhouses on the mud.OH broke up the concrete and we made a pile of it so I can use it to metal my paths in veg garden. However though that only took about an hour,I found some huge old breeze blocks and large lumps of rock were under the mud and as I need to peg the greenhouses down and will probably plant into the mud,we had to get them out.
Ive only just finished putting the first greenhouse out. Will have to do the other tomorrow after shopping and I managed to tear the pvc a bit by the zip :(
Still managed to make biscuits, toasted cheese and onion sandwiches for lunch and toad in the hole for tea.

  • Well, today has got to be one of the most productive days I've had in months!!!

I'm just sitting and chilling with a glass of wine at the moment before going to cook dinner, but that will only take 5-10 mins as it's all prepped and just a case of heating up the woks and cooking it off  :D

It's a late dinner as we had a late lunch of potato & leek soup, which was very filling, but also very yummy! DS ended up having 2 bowlfulls and there's still plenty left which I've stuck in the fridge for now in case we fancy it again tomorrow, but if not it can go in the freezer.

I've packed away a lot of my delicate ornaments from the glass-front dresser, so that's one less job to do when the time comes, and have dug out some of the original boxes and packaging for certain items from under my bed, so they're safely packed away now too. I've also made a start on sorting out the cupboards/drawers below and came across tons of stuff I'd forgotten I even had! (6 boxes of brand new xmas cards is just one example, as I seem to buy new ones every year and forget I have some left from the previous year :o )

Living room floor looks like a bombs hit it at the moment, with barely room to move, so that will have to be sorted out either tonight or tomorrow. It's a large room and sort of sectioned off into different areas with the way the furniture is positioned but I have a big thing about keeping the sitting/tv area clean and clear at all times so I can sit there and relax and ignore anything behind me LOL!

Ok, I've rambled on enough and should really go and get dinner cooked now, although I still don't feel overly hungry  ... Just shouted through to DS and he's busy playing on his PS2 and doesn't want to eat just yet either so I guess I can spend another half hour or so here, and maybe have a 2nd glass of vino :j :D

Oh, I hope you enjoy it!! :D

I made a panful of base sauce earlier today which is currently chilling in various containers in the fridge ready to go in the freezer later. To give you an idea of portion sizes, I found some that I'd frozen in a 250g mascarpone cheese pot last time (think I did it as a single portion) but it was sufficient to make two generous portions of potato and veg curry for me and DS. It wasn't quite as "saucy" as I'd have like, as I like to have plenty to mop up with chappatis or naan bread, but it wasn't really that dry either!

im currently sat eating 2 packs of tesco value chicken noodles for my tea and a can of coca-cola. Noodles 8p a pack, can - free as it got left by a friend when he was round the other day. So my evening meal cost me 16p! :rotfl:

Trying to stretch the contents of my cupboards/fridge for 2 reasons first i spent waaaay too much on shopping since i moved in averaging £20-30 a week for just me  (i blame living out of a microwave still so not being able to cook alot of the things i like) and secondly i had some work done on the kitchen the other day and for safety reasons (position of where i will be having my new cooker) ive had to loose a cupboard off the wall and no place to put it so im a cupboard down so gotta condense stuff.
