  • sorry to hear you had a bad night P-P; I'm sure the stair lift will make a huge difference to you. It sounds like your family are very well trained indeed - those are amamzing bootsale bargains :T

Apple-mint - good luck with the selling today!

Hi C-Q; it makes an unbelievable difference when you're coming in to an empty sink, doesn't it. I used to think my parents we're mad for staying up to do the dishes after a dinner party but I can absolutely appreciate why they did it now - it helps make

Hi Johanne - when do you sleep when you've been on nights? I can never get my days worked out afterwards and I seem to lose a lot of time...l'd be interested to hear how you do it.

L-t-S - Have a good time at the car boot (I wish there was one closer to me, but it's too far to walk :( ). I really must get round to making C-Q's sauce - you've got me craving curry at 10 in the morning!

It's such a hard thing to explain to people Squeaky; It means you can set up for the new day rather than being depressed by the remnants of the old I think :)

Good luck with the cleaning Stressedout (and hopefully the family will stay coralled safely downstairs :D )

Hi Elona - if your DD2 is anything like my wee brother was she'll be upset until she realises that her sister's left stuff behind unguarded now... :D ... if she gets upset again maybe she could help put together a "care package" (or a list for one, even). I'm sure your DD1 will appreciate something from home in a few weeks time and it might be a nice way to keep the two of them connected?

Anyway; morning all... back at work for another 12hours again and very tired as (after being sleepy all day yesterday) I suddenly "woke up" about 10 o'clock last night and was bright and breezy and unable to sleep until about half one today... ah well... I've got all my HM food in with me today (I'm particularly looking forward to my Chicken pie for dinner) so I'm trying to O/S as best I can! Really really cold here last night (although it's warmed up a little) and I even needed a quick blast through the heating and I'm beginning to appreciate that the laminate floors in my flat mean I'm going to need slippers if I don't want to pay out a fortune for heating! I think they'll be on my shopping list for this week...
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...

Where can I find your recipe? It sounds fantastic.

It's post #38 in the recipe board thread. I'll come back and edit in the link in a moment, but just got to go get DS up again as he's nodded off back to sleep and has a footie match in an hour

Which should be here if I've followed Squeaky's instructions correctly :D

Couldn't sleep last night so I didn't go to bed until 1am and was still awake at 2 - I'm putting it down to the house being so quiet with OH away. What didn't help was DD waking up about 2.30 complaining of not being able to sleep. I just put her in our bed so I spent most of the night with her kicking me in her sleep or stealing the covers - there's no mistaking she's her fathers daughter!

So far I've tidied the masterbedroom, stripped and remade DD's bed, fed and watered us both and put Muppet Family Christmas on for DD. Todays plan is to clean the house top to bottom, do the ironing (washing of bedding can wait a day or two), make Country Veg Toad and a summer fruit crumble for tea. I'm going to try and get DD to have some soup thats left over from last night for dinner. Plus I have 1 batch of dishes left to do (pans left to soak overnight).

OH comes home with our new car today :j:j so that will be washing and stuff to be done. I think I might make a weeks worth of sandwiches up for him and freeze them. If I really get a move on I might even bake another cake or two ;) Saying that though if I have a chance before OH gets home I'd like to get out in the garden and do some work. I think we might have a few strawberries ripe, I want to harvest the rest of the spring onions so I can use the compost for putting my strawberry plants in pots over the winter. I think I'm going to bring the rest of my tomatos in and make green chutney with them as we had a light frost the other night  then I can dig in some fertilizer and leave that bed empty over the winter.

Oh well, two more sites to look at, and my ebay sales (5 items selling and they end tonight) then I'll start on the housework :D

  • Good morning all

I have a hangover from hell!!! far to much  Don't have nights out very often so as it was my only weekend off this month really went for it... my brain feels likes it's floating in stella... I remember when i could have these nights and still be at work for 8 the next morning.. not anymore takes me all of the next day to get over it.. think i am getting old!

So due to the above I will be dropping off DS in my PJ's to football soon... whats the betting this is the time I breakdown!!!

Today will then be spent on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Morning everyone

Had an almost decent lie in today :j DS1 only came in 3 times to bug me/ask dopey questions. :) However, Mr TM;s taken him to mass so there's just me and DS2 who's playing quietly with his toys for once.

Need to sort out the attic bedroom and storage rooms cos all the pressies I bought yesterday are laid on the spare bed and I don't want DS1 to wander in there as some are for him and he's bound to want the ones I bought for other kids!

Need to get on with some more laundry today - did 3 loads of washing yesterday and at least as much again today. Might see if there's a good film on so I can get on with the ironing. I was going to make a choccy cake today but when DS1 was messing around today, his punishment for not behaving was NO choccy cake. However, may make a ginger cake instead :D:D

Need to sort out the armchair in my room - full of new clothes. Thought that Mr TM had been shopping yesterday, forgetting he'd been to my mum's to help and she'd found lots of new clothes my dad had never worn that fit him (or will when I've altered them) I nearly fell over when I saw a pair of trousers with a price tag on for .... £290  Dad did get them in the sale for £90, but even so...... He's got a decent blazer type jacket too. He forgot to bring all dad's ties home with him - no doubt they will come back with me tomorrow :D (dad would be pleased - he hated waste and he hardly wore some of his ties and there are some fab ones. Mr TM loves his ties too)

OK, off for a shower and then start on my jobs. Must get something out of the freezer for tea - dunno what yet.

    Later, folks

    Morning all

Well, I'm just waiting for OH to come out of the shower before I go and get myself clean too.

We had a good day yesterday at the rugby and came back via OH's sister and bro-in-law's house. They asked us to stay for supper and we ended up having fish and chips, which were yummy, from their local chippy. However, that was our second takeaway of the week so we're not going to have another one for quite some time.:( I've got some veggies in the fridge that are looking a bit tired, so tonight we're having stir fry (which we would have had last night) and I'll try to make up a batch of a tomatoey sauce for pasta with the rest. We can probably have that on our first night in our new house next week.

We're popping into town today to get our god son's birthday present - he's going to be one this week :) This means that I can also get a few books for my supply teaching, when it kicks off. I was given a bit of cash from my future MIL as an early Christmas present for this purpose. I thought that I'd better spend it wisely before I fritter it away on stuff that I don't need or want! :D

Later today we've got to properly start packing as we're both working full time this coming week. We move a week tomorrow, but a week today it's god son's first birthday party, so we don't really want to miss that.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all!

My first day off since last Sunday, so I intend to use it well as I gotta go back to work on Monday. Im going to Locate a doctor to regster with, do some more organising, ironing, a couple of loads of laundry, clean the bathroom and then make something for dinner. We are both very skint at the moment but I get paid next week, but then the rent is due on the 9th so ive got to do some very frugal budgeting to get us through the next two months.

Ive also got to do some more change of address stuff and a list of things boyf needs to do next week (like going to the post office to do a mail divert and picking up the parcels, changing his address on his bank stuff, and finding a job!) so its a busy one! Ive located the sofa i want but its £565 so that is going to have to wait until ive been paid twice (then I can get a graduate loan) so I can then get some furniture! I need a wardrobe (Ikea - £140), another set of drawers (Ikea - £45), bookcase (Ikea - Approx £45) TV stand (Ikea - £69), Coffee Table (Ikea - £34.90), A desk (Ikea - £19.99) and the sofa (Ikea - £545). I Intend to loan £1000, so the rest of the money will pay off my credit card. The boyf has some purchases to make too, but we decided I'd buy the essentials (so they will be mine if we ever break up!) and he can buy the fripperies, like a big new tv, some artwork, rugs, posh bedsheets cutlery and crockery... It may sound like some of this stuff is not really o/s but the grad loan rate is so low I figured im sick and tired in living in places without even essentials, so im going to have matching furniture with a loan. Fortunately, my work clothes are provided by work, I just had approx £500 worth of clothes as my uniform, and its actually quite nice. Another benefit is that I dont have to think about what im going to wear, just grab something and put it on! I had 4 different styles of top (7 in total), skirts (x2) trousers (x3) and a jacket. And it didnt cost me a penny!

Ive also decided that the only thing I will buy for myself out of my wages this month is a cheap haircut - it desperately needs doing and then I might dye it myself (although it will have to wait until stupid pigsback put the vouchers back up online, I cant afford to dye it and I wanted to get myself a lipstick and a hair dye with the next lot of vouchers im due!

Anyway, I figure im completely off o/s topic now - I think my things to do list and plans went on here instead of on paper stuck to the fridge! Oooppss..

    Have a lovely day all!

    Jo xx

I used to turn my whole day round to treat the night shift exactly the same as an ordinary day.

I'd go to work. Obviously :) And then when I came home in the morning I'd stay up just the way you would after a day shift. I'd have a proper evening meal and often I'd watch a long play tape of last night's tv if there was anything on, read, be on-line, bit's around the house and garden. Bed about nine hours before work which gave time for a good kip, a quick shower and breakfast...

Eek! What about joining https://www.freecycle.org and scouring charity and second hand shops for things that will "do"? Then you can take your time over replacing each one when finances allow. No? :)
