I have a couple of questions and was wondering if anyone knows the answer and not wanting to start a new thread i just thaught i would ask them in here if thats alright.

ive been given a large box of soap powder from a friend, well actually she was throwing it away, gosh shock horror. Its a hand washing powder by surf but in foreign writing, lol. Is this suitable for machine washing or is it a different type of stuff altogether.

Also today ive been using vinigar and water for cleaning my kitchen units and appliences,50/50 added with water,is it suitable for cleaning baths too or do i still need to buy real bathroom cleaner. And also what ratio should i use with vinigar and water for cleaning paintwork, like fingermarks on doors and skirting boards as i would hate it if the paint started peeling away.

had a lovely dinner later and now off to bed to recover and prepare myself for flght home, view from plane was lovely especially the Lake District but small planes make me nervous,

'morning Glad :hello:, 'morning penny pincher :hello:

Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Edinburgh, Glad :D - sorry to hear you have not had enough sleep again penny pincher, I know how the tiredness builds up when you don't get a regular good sleep _pale_

I'm up early 'cause I'm not sleeping well 'cause I'm worrying about things going on in my life (work, house etc) but I'm going to try and put that all behind me and enjoy my weekend ;)

I've got masses of jam and chutney making to do and it's the farmer's market today. I'm hoping to get a quarter of lamb. I've started to seriously look at our portion sizes for meat as I think I cook far too much for each meal. This past week I've halved the meat and been more creative with the meals I've been making (e.g. spanish omlette, meat balls in tomato sauce with spagetti, curried yoghurt chicken with rice) and I've definately been able to stretch the meat further and still have lovely filling meals.

I'm going to go blackberry picking again, as the first batch of blackberry jam has been given the thumbs up by OH. I have some green tomatoes for green tomato chutney and OH came home with 4 marrows given to him at work by a workmate - so some of these may be experimented on as marrow chutney (I'm sure I'll find a recipe on OS :D)

See you all later and have a lovely OS day!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Morning penny pincher and apple-mint,I am have been reading OS every day but this is my first post on this page, penny pincher have you tried cutting wheat out of your diet, the reason Im saying this is because I have a friend who has ME and suffers dreadfully with sleepless nights, muscle aches ect.. I had my thyroid gland removed last year and I have never felt 100% since, then I heard that people on thyroxine can develope an intolerence to wheat,my muscles felt like lead weights and throbbed, I found it very difficult to sleep at night, the exhaustion was getting me down, so I have cut wheat out of my diet, it has taken a good 3 weeks to have any effects, my muscles no longer ache,I am now sleeping really well, I have so much more energy, I tried to cut wheat out a few months ago felt better then started eating it again felt really ill,I now plan to stay off it for good,I know you have a lot of health problems, It might not help but it might be worth a try.Wheat is so processed now a lot of people are wheat intolerent and dont even realise it.If you feel lethargic all the time it could be wheat causing it...

Morning all and ((((hugs)))) to P_P, it must be hell living as you do at the moment, but you always seem to put a brave face on it, on here.

Well, me and boys up and breakfasted, Mr TM is snoring in the next room (you can probably hear him :)). Had a dopey wasp in the kitchen this morning and much as I hate them, I hate killing them too, so spent 15 minutes trying to get it out of the door.

DS1 has a football party to go to at 11am, with some processed junk included as the lunch. I must go in the attic shortly and get one of my suitable '6yo boys' pressies from my pressie stack. In fact, I have loads of pressies up there somewhere - mainly Boots January bargain type things so I may collect them all together in a big box so I know wxactly what I've got. (Actually, my MIL gets me such dreadful Xmas pressies, that I give her all my bargain pressies - they look nice but I know I haven't had to spend much on her. I can then spend on my mum who is generous to a fault and I feel better knowing that I can get something she will appreciate, even if it does cost more)

I am going to put the BM on in a while. Yesterday's loaf didn't rise but I think my tepid water was too hot, so that's probably the cause. Will also do the malt loaf and yoghurt today - have been promising for days now :)

Need to do a blitz on the bathrooms and change boys beds - only got ours done yesterday. Final labels need to go into school uniform as well, but they are iron on so will be done with the new ironing mountain :D

    OK, off for a surf,

    Have a great day

    TM
  • Morning all. (((((((hugs))))))))

Working from home today!!! Will probably be on here or on Ebay for most of it :D

Mystery shopping tonight so free dinner and no cooking. Going to clean the house for the next hour and then start work. Also got to do a gift box inventory as I keep forgetting what I've got.

    Have a good day

Hi Yall, Wow - I can't believe I'm alive at this time on a Saturday morning and logged on with only three cups of coffee inside me. I know those off you who get up under cover of darkness will be unimpressed and go:rolleyes: But it's early for me given that it's Saturday.

Second load of dishwashing put on.

    Breadmaker a chuggin.

    Overnight made yoghurt decanted.

    Cooling jam bottled.

Washing awaiting until the kidz have done in the shower.

Off to poundland later to get some cheap containers for all this HM stuff. It's a catch 22. You start making your own stuff so need more containers but you've stopped buying stuff in containers cos your making your own stuff;)

Might catch you all later unless I go back to bed:p

I went to the market this morning to check out the fruit and veg but decided bruised apples and squashy tomatoes would just be a waste of money. We popped in to lidl on the way home and they are doing half price fruit and veg so I bought all the weeks fruit and most of the veg in there and it was £3 .Apparently the half price thingy is not just this weekend so I'll be back next weekend to stock up again .Just about to do lunch with HM bread(we always have sandwiches for lunch) then probably tackle the kids laundry.
