Washing machine is chugging away and then dishwasher can be switched on.

OK for home made bread at the moment so went bramble picking again this morning.

Trying to get some ironing done but keep getting sidetracked.

    Good afternoon all.....

Off to a bootfair this morning - picked up a few books and a couple of bits and bobs, only spent £2 tho so more than happy. Went off to do the weekly shop, £40.62 but that included a months supply of loo rolls and 2-3 weeks of cat food, was also a week for tin foil, cling film and black sacks..Got some orange peppers - 4 really large ones in a bag for 41p a pack....got 3 of those, got lots of tomatoes left this week so will do tomato and onion stuffed peppers, the rest i'll use during the week in everything...Oh and their wraps were bogof (12 for 95p bargin) so go a few packs of those for lunch boxes.

Went to the market for my fruit and veg but typically he didn't have much today so only got a carrier bag full of bananas and grapes for £2...ended up in Lidl for their half price fruit and veg and managed to spend another £7....it all looked so tempting....then came home to find we've been given a carrier bag full (to the top) of fresh runner beans from a friend of a friend....so looks like we'll be very veggified this week!! Since coming on here I've realised that I actually get just as much of a thrill buying fresh fruit and veg as I did spending money on clothes.....strange but healthy :T

Got a pile of ironing and a quick whizz round to do later then got to get school bags and p.e. kits sorted for monday, sending DD's back in summer uniform as it's so nice so no need to worry about the lables.....yet!!

Off to a concert tomorrow night - really looking forward to it - will be a late night for DD's (bit naughty really with school the next day) but hey these things have to be down every now and then.

Hope you're all feeling better this afternoon

Got a load of washing out of the machine this morning that I'd put on before we went to bed and hung it outside. Went to town to get a birthday present for my sister, also went to the market for fruit and veg, got kiwis, nectarines, red grapes, cucumber and red pepper v cheaply.

Last night we were feeling lazy so decided to go to nearest Brewers Fayre for a meal. We had a BOGOF voucher so at least saved the cost of one meal. Then we came home and instead of hiring a DVD from Blockbuster settled on watching a film on TV instead.

Have just got back from putting up lots of posters to promote my slimming club- having your own franchise is definitely hard work, but still worthwhile :)

This afternoon I hope to hoover the upstairs rooms and clean the bathroom.

    Have a good day, sarah

  • Afternoon all :) . Having a quiet Saturday in today in preparation for my chicken roasting tonight :D I think today will mostly be spent on here and the other sites I visit until it's time to go and put the chicken in and peel the spuds etc. :D

Glad - Hopefully you'll enjoy the view and have a nice calm fight home :)

P-P - Sorry to hear you're not so good again ((hugs)) . Maybe today's a day for a nice film and a lazy day like me?

apple-mint - hope the farmer's market was fab - how much meat are you serving now then? I think that it's a normal problem to expect too much meat in a serving (cheap mince and battery chickens made it cheap, rather than a luxury) and it's not all that good for us - I'd be interested to hear how much people here think is enough

Hi Frosty! Welcome to the O/S Daily thread :)

Hi TM - I keep all my pressie bargains in a couple of drawers (along with nice gift bags that can be reused etc) it's so useful to have things there for "surprise" birthdays (and a lot cheaper than panic buying at the last minute too!)

Pink Fairy - TM's post reminded me that I must dig out my christmas notebook and update my "buy for" list and "stuff in drawer" list too :) - Race you? ;)

Hi Math - I had the same problem until I started inviting friends round for DVD nights - they usually order chinese and I keep the containers (the reusable clear placcy kind) which are EXCELLENT for keeping HM stuff in the freezer and microwavable too (It's the only thing that makes all the dishes they leave behind worthwhile...) Otherwise what I did as a student was put a freezer bag in a box, fill that, freeze it then take the bag out the box and have it frozen in a good box shape (and the bag can sit back in the box in the fridge to defrost)?

Hi Jo - Fingers crossed you get some nice cheap accomodation - let us know!

Hi Culpepper - I used th have a lidls close by and their veg was excellent, and a good buy even not on offer so it sounds like you've a cracking buy there (even if the market was a dissapointment)

elona - too nice a day to be ironing maybe? :) are you making jam with your blackberries?

Hi Pooky - who's the concert (I think I've read before, but I forget)?

Hi Saraht - sounds like a nice meal out last night and low on the guilt with the bogof voucher - it must be quite a rewarding business to run?
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...

Oh, g_l, we’re having roast chicken tonight! – we kind of treated ourselves to a trip up to the local-ish (about 9 miles away) farm shop. I could have spent a fortune stocking up the freezer with their meat, and absolutely scrummy icecream, and other half could quite cheerfully have blown the entire month’s budget at their cheese counter. Instead, concentrated on the weekly fruit and veg staples, plus a free range chicken, and spent just over £10.

The country drive has spurred o/h to go out brambling, so he’s currently out on a mission! I’m just about to launch into “kitchen magic”, before he returns to cook dinner. (note to self - must remember to freeze the couple of pasta and sauce dinners for dd to take to nursery that we got from lunches ratatouille).
  • Evening

Havent done much today but OH has got on with some more decorating  2 wash loads done all downstairs tidied through and swept.

OH & DD just popped round to Lidls and they got, white thick loaf, nice packet of ham 190g, jar of hot chocolate, jar of coffee mate, 12 burgers, 12 burger buns, orange squash & strawberry jam and totalled £5.01  Sometimes I cant believe how cheap it is in there and the quality of most items are excellent :D

We've had burger in buns with relish and mayo for tea tonight ;) The burgers are frozen but are 100% beef and cook and taste lovely-cooked 6 and other 6 in freezer for another meal with the other 6 rolls :p Jam is lovely too

Just going to get DD in bath, then settle down to watch X factor at 7 :D

Hope I sleep better tonight. Have a good evening.

  • Hello all,

Had a busy day today, went absolutely mad on the house so it looks 'extra' clean (all the silly jobs like emptying the toaster). Am off out to a friend's house warming party in a minute - only round the corner so a nice no-effort evening.

Home made Tuna-Goo for dinner. Tuna/onion/sweetcorn in cheese sauce covered in mash, sprinkling of crisps and cheese then shove in the oven until crispy on top. Yum.

Has anyone seen Ancasta recently? Haven't seen any posts from her for a while.

I decided to make a huge blackberry pie which is in the fridge now ready to bake tomorrow as a dessert with custard.

Don't usually post on the OS day because OS proportion not all it could be but today was good. After breakfast made a start packing some stuff for when we move - won't be for a while yet but want to get organised - boxes and boxes of books packed but doesn't look like they've been touched - can't bear to part with them. However, in my bedroom made sure all the Xams presents are together and reminded myself what I had. Binned a load of junk I've been hoarding. Put curry on in slow cooker.

Made two other boxes stuff for ebay and stuff for car boot(working on my pledge) the stuff that doesn't sell on ebay can go to car boot too. Packed a load of clothes that I know I definately won't wear in the next few months. Also packed three boxes of un opened toiletries!! and two large vanity cases. I'm only going to use stuff now that has been opened and will use it up. A lot of the other stuff has been bought on offer or with points but still....

Went into town and to Boots to buy some gift bags - I got some the other day - they're reduced to 24p and on BOGOF - they come with gift tag and co ordianting tissue paper. Also bought some reduced Xmas cards and paper.

Treated me and DS to hot chocolate at Starbucks - they were really busy and didn't have any tall cups clean, so gave us a grande for the same price.

Washed some curtains that are moving - rinsed in vinegar and lavender (smell great)

    Ate yum curry.

Am ready for a bath and chill out.

I've had a rather unusual day today. I live in a block of flats and at 1am this morning there was a fire in one of the flats on my floor. It was pretty scary cos I could smell the smoke and wondered if I would have to get out. Fortunately I didn't but it made me think of all the poor people affected by Hurricane Katrina who have lost their homes. My night was disrupted but their whole life has been disrupted.

Had a very lazy day. I've not even been outside..or even had a shower.. or even changed out of my nightie!! Did some cleaning this morning then fell asleep. Not sure if I have actually done anything else. Does this win the prize for the most laziest day ever? (I'm not usually like this - honest!)
