Morning Glad :hello:
Glad the meet went well.
Have had a rotten night, slept for about 3 hours and just in pain all over  Bac up to Kings College monday so will see what consultant says-dont want to stay in there for another 2 weeks-but will take a bag just incase
Washload in-2 more to do today, toilet cleaned, 20 min blitz will be finished by OH when he's out of bed. Bedding day today, so both lots will be stripped, washed and hung on line. OH is cleaning the outside windows again todaytrying to get them done every 4 weeks at least.
Going to have a treat for breakie (for OH & DD) sausage, bacon, egg, mushies, hash brown, beans, half slice fried bread each & toast  Normally have one a week but havent over the last 3 weeksAll is grilled except egg & beans. Not sure what dinner will be later.
Think OH today will be doing some more of DD bedroom (nearly finished) and taking some rubbish to the local dump
Have a great day.
Penny-Pincher!!
xxxTo repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
Morning all. Sorry to hear you're still no too good penny-pincher. Was up early, but not as early as some! Going away for the wekend so much ironing to do. Would have liked a lie-in but I think the enormity of the task ahead (the ironing) prevented me from getting one. So Polti is on ready for a mammoth ironing session. Will have a quick brekkie after, then down to the market for fresh veg and meat. I'm going to prep meals today and only take what we'll eat instead of lugging a big box of food that we (probably) won't eat. Will get the kids to help me make pasta sauce later, and for tea we're having ranchero pie which is a bit like cottage pie but made with minced pork mixed with baked beans and topped with potatoes mixed with sweetcorn, yummy!!
Enough of my ramblings better make a start I guess. Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Hurrah it's Friday! Nearly the weekend. Just off to work but planning a quick blitz of the house this evening then tomorrow it's more wallpaper stripping and decluttering to get the main bedroom ready for plastering.
HM chilli con carne for tea tonight - my favourite.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
:hello: Morning all :hello:
It's looking like it's going to be a beautiful day today!
PP - sorry to hear that you're not feeling great.
Glad - mmmmm, shopping in Edinburgh. What a treat!
Soba - your ranchero pie sounds divine. Can you post the recipe when you have a minute please?
Well, I finished all my ironing yesterday - but I've got another lot to do today. Grrrr. It's so annoying! And there's only 2 of us, but OH's work shirts seem to be ruling the roost at the moment.
I'll be changing the bed today. That'll mean that at some stage I'll have to iron the duvet. I'll have to seek out a good dvd to watch whilst I do that! It's my least favourite chore.
We went to a pub quiz last night for my friend's birthday............... and we came first! There were 9 of us in total, so it would have been embarrassing if we'd come anywhere but the top 3. Anyway, we got a £10 voucher to be spent in the pub, so we gave it to the birthday girl.
Supper tonight is going to be at a different pub. There were a few bits and pieces that we weren't happy with in the cottage that we stayed in when we were in the Lake District, so the friends we were with complained on the form that they give you ("satisfaction questionaire"). They weren't expecting anything back, other than a letter, but they got a cheque for £50 in apology! Considering we paid 50/50 for the holiday, we're all going out tonight for a meal..................
Anyway, I'm breaking one of my pledges. I'm sitting here in my dressing gown when I said that I wouldn't switch on the computer until I was dressed. I'm just waiting for the water to heat up for a bathHonest

Off to Liverpool city centre to try and find Lidls (its a case of I've been told where it is and I've seen the signs, but finding the actual shop is another matter
) and I'm going to pop into Wilkinsons as well. Only realised yesterday while reading here that I need to get DD a lunchbox for school  so I'm taking her with me to make sure she can open it herself. Oh my God, my little girl starts "big school" a week on Monday and I can still remember laying in the hospital bed the day I had her
Oh well, off to try and get her washed and dressed while putting the ironing away (which I finished completely last night :j but will have more again tomorrow  ) and trying to get myself sorted.
Must turn off the computer..must turn off the computer ... :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Morning everyone
I'm showered and dressed, as is DS2 and I'm of to dry my barnet in a while. I'm going to the Drs at 10.30 as I've still got a strong but very localised pain in my abdomen, after my illness - I'm hoping I haven't given myself a hernia or anything
DS2 returns to pre-school this afternoon which gives me a couple of hours to take DS1 into town for his school shoes, PE kit etc. Also got a mystery shopping job to do so that will effectively go towards the shoesIt's a lovely day here (for a change) so I'm going to strip the beds today. I actually did my mammoth ironing pile last night, so at least that's out of the way.
I have lots of bolognaise in the fridge from the other night so I think I'll make that into a lasagne for tonight, with a salad. However, I do need some more salad/veggies so will be visiting the market today. I keep forgetting to look in my mum's attic to see if she's still got her old "wally trolley" - it's always the trip to the market that reminds me as I invariably end up buying 4 carrier bags of veg and about 7lb of meatHowever, I understand the "gibbon" look is back in for autumn
OK, DS2 is chucking me off here - cbeebies website is calling.
Catchya later

Forgot to say (I'm really pleased, so I'm telling you all!) that my dad went to see the consultant yesterday and my dad's going to get a new hip! Wooooohoooo! Apparently the NHS waiting list is 6 months long, with 4 to 5 months recuperation. That's a bit of a problem as he wouldn't be able to walk me - his only daughter - up the aisle next summer for my wedding, nor would he be able to help with harvest (and being a farmer that's a bit of a problem). So, he might be going private. Not very Moneysaving, but he wants to be fit enough to walk me to church AND drive a tractor. Honestly! Woke up at 5am as DH is off to Hong Kong.
Waved him off at 7.45, having insisted he have some breakfast.
Phoned DD's employer to tell them she was ill and she is still upstairs so letting her sleep.
The fact that I was tossing and turning last night is just beginning to catch up with me - suddenly really tired.
Might do some shopping later but will just see how I feel."This site is addictive!"

Honest

Ermmmm me too! ... but I do have an excuse because I had to come on here to get the recipe for malt loaf to stick in my BM as soon as I woke up!
I will get myself in gear and go jump in the shower and get dressed ... after one more :coffee:
Not made any plans for today as such yet, apart from trying to wake myself up properly as I've only had about 3 hours sleep I think, but at least I've got the BM going!
It is Friday today isn't it? I might give the fish van a call later and ask him to pop round and see what yummy delights he has on board today. He comes to the village once a week straight from the docks with the morning's fresh catch and parks up at the supermarket to sell his fish, but because I can't get out he said if I give him a call towards the end of his day (2pm) he'll call round to my home when he's packed up. Hopefully pick up some cheap bargains too if he wants to get rid of stuff at the end of the day:j

well, the meet in Edinburgh last night was fun. Lots of lovely people came and there were lots of drinks all round
today I am trying to organise a trip to Ikea this evening fro the new chair I have been saving for as well as trying to think up what to have for dinner this evening. It was going to be sausage and mash - but I couldn't find the sausages in the freezer this morning.
Right - better do some work. Great news about your dad VickyA.
Have a good day everyone!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
