  • Morning all... worked nights so have not slept since??? ??..can not even remember when. Was in tesco at 4am on my break looking to get a slow cooker but they only had the MR 2.5 ltr at 30 quid which would have been to small for 5 of us so have just been on E bay and got a new MR 6.5ltr delivered for 27 quid.. bargain!.. can not wait for it to arrive.

Spent yesterday afternoon printing off recipies... I have a curry queen cook book in my kitchen!!! If I can get out of my pit before the school run I am going to try and call the indian style supermarket to see if I can get some reasonable priced spices need to make CQ's indian take away night curry!!!

    Night, night.

Morning all. PP you won't know how you managed without that freezer ;)

Sparklewing I sympathise as I have IBS too, luckily it seems to have settled down since the doctor stuck me on Prozac. I don't see any reason why you can't do veggie meals in a slow cooker?

nicki I hope the car never lets you down :)

I have ironed all DD2's clothes ready for her to go to her nana's for the weekend, fingers crossed all goes well as DH is taking her up there, he's a manic driver and she is not a good traveller. I'm going to make sure he phones me to let me know he's got there okay.

DS goes to his dad's tomorrow so I am going to spend the day sorting out their bedroom while they are not here.

You can cook anything in a slow cooker, it cooks whatever you put it in at a low steady temperature over say 10 hours (overnight or all day) and leaves it lovely and tender and tasty. You can do veggie dishes in it, soup, puddings etc.

Here is a link to check

There is also a slow cooker recipe on the OS main recipe index thread.

    Good Luck.

    Morning all,

Sorry to hear several of you had restless nights and had to get up early. I woke up pretty early for me but I don't need any sympathy because it was due to excitement that we are going on holiday today :j We are going to Turkey for a week and I am so excited just like a kid, silly really but I always get like this.

Lots has to be done today though. I'd hate to come home to a dirty house so I'm going to blitz the house- hoover everywhere, dust and de-cobweb everywhere (I've seen sooo many spiders and webs in our house just lately, don't mind spiders but they are starting to look a bit unsightly everywhere), empty the bins atc etc.

Also I have to go to the bank to pay in my takings from slimming class last night, and get my weekly spending money out, and take library books back.

Should probably think about packing my suitcase too :rotfl:

Oh and I'm going to apply fake tan to my face- know I should get the rest of me brown soon but I always wear factor 25 on my face so I don't get too wrinkled when I'm older. Fake tan was BOGOF in Tesco the other day, but when I got out and looked on receipt the offer hadn't come off. So I asked at Cusomer services and they checked, there were still loads of BOGOF signs up but the small print showed the offer had ended the day before. I said I thought it was bad that all the posters were still up promoting it and lots of other people had prob bought it cos it was on offer, and they refunded my money and let me keep both tubes of fake tan! So 2 free tubes of fake tan, bargain!

Well have a good week all, hope there'll be lots of interesting threads for me to catch up on when I get back.

    morning everyone

It was cold this morning, showing 7C on my way to work at 8am, Brrrr! I guess summer's over then!

not much to report, had a fairly big cookathon last night. made someone's pearl barley rissoto, was very yummy, even if my girlfriend refused to eat that "health food rubbish". Also made a weetabix and fruit loaf, turned out very nicely. I'll put the recipe up in a sec.

Only 3 days of work left for the summer, then I'm back off to uni and won't be around on MSE as much.
  • Morning everyone :hello:

Gosh, you're all up bright and early today although sorry to hear some of you had rough nights again *hugs* ... I didn't get to bed till gone 2am this morning but managed to sleep through ok although I struggled to get up this morning and was still in bed when DS went off to school! :o

On my third :coffee: now but can't seem to get myself kick-started and I can see the hours slowly ticking away  I didn't get as much done yesterday as planned as I got sidetracked dreaming of new kitchens and dishwashers  so of course I had to go checking everything out online and ordering brochures etc, and managed to theoretically spend several thousand pounds in just a few hours!!! :rotfl:

Think I'd better try to spend today more constructively though and actually do some work, which seems to be piling up at a great rate of knots  I've got to go empty the washing machine, which I set going before going to bed, and do last night's washing up. The cat's litter trays need emptying and one or two viv's need cleaning out this morning, as well as checking and watering everybody, and if I'm really good I'll hoover and mop the floors too! <phew I need a lie down already!> :D

I need to get a sweet 'n' sour sauce on the go too as I've promised DS a HM chinese meal this weekend if my bits I ordered turn up today, hopefully! Tonight's dinner will be a potato and veggie curry to use up stuff in the fridge as I managed to find a small pot of my curry sauce hidden away in the freezer which I'd forgotten about, so that will be a quick and easy meal to throw together.

Girlpower - Hope you enjoy making the curry! :D

Tr3mor - I felt the chill here last night too and actually switched the heating on overnight, just the one radiator near the reptiles viv's, so it didn't get too cold for them. It's a lot brighter this morning though but the breeze coming in the window feels very fresh and autumnal today!

Right, I better make a move, or shall I just have one more :coffee: first :D

Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

It's in the Recipe thread and is post #38 which will be the second from bottom on either page 1 (if you have set it to view 40 posts per page) or on page 4 if you're viewing the normal 10 posts per page :)

    Morning all..
Took car to garage for MOT this morning . I'm hoping it passes ok and doesn't cost me a fortune!
DH has gone out for today so I'm enjoying the space but really need to crack on with all the cleaning jobs that don't seem to happen when he's working from home ( sitting in the lounge with his stuff spread out everywhere!!)

So gotta hoover and mop floors, dust and get a load of washing on!
    Wish me luck...

Home made soup taken out of the freezer for lunch. Cauliflower cheese and bacon with jacket pot for tea.
Should really do some baking as well....

Might have to take the cat to the vet later on. He's not eaten anything since yesterday, which is very unlike him...and so of course he's not doing the other. It's all really sad...this could be it..

Anyway have a good day everyone
