Ahhhh peace... :j DD is off at school and I'm onto my second hot drink but my first coffee of the day
Had one of those nights/days. Went to bed before House started which is unusual but as OH was going to bed I went up with him since he's away until SundayThis is only the 3 time he's been away overnight in 5 years but at least I'll get a good nights sleep
He kept me awake until after midnight with his tossing and turning which turned into snoring around 11pm  He woke me up at least twice in the night by hitting me in his sleep as he's turned over and when his alarm went off at 6am it woke me up as well!!! I gave up trying to sleep at 6.30am so DD and I had a nice cup of tea made in the teapot instead of the cup with our breakfasts this morning :rotfl:
OH left here at 7.15 to catch a bus into town to get the train at 7.50. He phoned me at 7.30 to say he'd forgotton his change bag (it's sitting next to where his mobile was  ) so he was going to use a £5 note he had in his wallet on the bus but the driver wouldn't accept it as he only had £5 worth of change. Fair enough in my opinion, but instead of coming home or asking me to meet him half way (the bus stop is at the top of the road and on the next block - less than 5 minutes walk) with the change bag he got a taxi costing him £4.90!!!!! Around 8.30 I was tidying up a pile of paper that had appeared on the desk and found his print out of directions for coming home on Sunday which he was obviously supposed to take with him! I rang to tell him and fortunately he has his laptop with him and its still on there as a file so he'll print it out at his mates
When I got back from school I cleared out "Penny" (our current car) of everything we had put in it (boot organiser, Haynes manual etc) and removed the CD player as SIL has asked if she can have it as her one in her car has packed in  As she's family there's no charge this time.
Plans for the rest of the day  DD and I will be having fish pie tonight for tea (leftovers from the freezer) and I'll put some peas or something with it to pad it out a bit but must remember I am cooking for 2 not 3We might have some tinned soup for dinner as its chilly here (14C apparently). I need to do washing but I'm waiting for DD's uniform so I might put the towels in once I've sorted it all out. I also need to dig out my curtains for the front and back doors due to the draft and the squeegie (sp?) to put upstairs with a cloth to dry the windows out in the mornings. House needs cleaning throughout but I might leave that until Sunday and DD and I can do it all so it's clean for OH coming home, plus it will wear her out. I actually fancy wrapping up and going for a walk but I doubt DD will after being in school all morning so I might take her on the scenic route to my nanas tomorrow instead and make an afternoon walk out of it. Then I'll let her have a cup of tea and some cake while we're there.
I wonder if DD would like to watch a Xmas video this afternoon- Muppets family Christmas or something I'm similar thinking - after all it is only 100 days to Xmas :dance::dance:

Went to Primark last night and bought my youngest daughter a nice warm hooded 3/4 length caramel coloured coat for £12.
Also treated my daughter who goes back to uni tomorrow to a Pink silk effect quilted throw. Looks expensive but only cost £10.
Had a slight smile as one of her flatmates is well off and has been bragging for months about her designer plans for her room which will be completely colour co-ordinated!!!!!
Just visited to put daughter's new bedding on bed for her a few days ago. She has a lovely lilac duvet set(£6 in sale) 2 pink and 1 purple pleated silk effect cushion from primark(£4 each) with pink throw I have just bought.
Also got purple chiffon type lightshade for ceiling light (£10)
For less than the bragging girl paid for a duvet cover - my daughter will have a beautiful bedroom that will make her feel special. Told daughter to say "Mummy knows a designer" and not to mention primark or sales bargains.lol

Good morning all --- horrible weather here today...so cold last night too.
Day off today and have been relishing the thought of it all week....Due to the bad weather I got in the loft once everyone had left this morning, sorted out all the winter clothes. How do they smell so musty after only a few months up there? Sorted them all out and made 3 piles, wash, iron and too small. Will see what's of use in the "too small" pile and get some of it listed on ebay over the weekend, the rest will get relegated to the rag rug bag or the fabric recycling place. Currently on washload 2 but still loads to get through!
Need a bit of inspiration for tea....I'm thinking pizza as i've got loads of oddments of cheese left over and loads of tomatoes.....can do tuna and sweetcorn ones for me (DH has fish allergy)...that with some stodgy garlic bread might go down well with a glass of wine tonight.
Plans for the weekend....Defrost the freezer and see if it's going to last or if we need to go get a new one. Degunk the filters on the washing machine and tumble dryer. Some gardening if it stays dry (some hope!!) Need to catch up on paperwork as I've got an OFSTED inspection next week sometime, then sit and get some more card stocks sorted as I've only got a few weekends left to get about 200 together for a craft fair!!!
Hope you all have a lovely day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
As usual I failed completely to get up early - oops.
Just still ploughing on with sorting out our stuff today - we made a list to try and work out what we need to do last night so hopefully that will help us. Can't believe the amount of recycling and rubbish we've got rid of so far and plenty more to take to the tip (where the recycling bins are for cardboard and plastic bottles).
At least the weather looks a bit better so I might be able to get some more washing done today - can't believe that this time next week we'll have the keys to our knew place :eek:Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Curry_Queen.......we are using your indian recipies at the weekend as we are having friends over for a meal, couldnt decided what we were having but saw this post-showed dh and he agreed-fantastic-indian night it is!!! my favourite too
Elona......i bet you daughter actually thinks of you in her bedroom and really appreciates it and feels loved too.
Pooky.....strange request here,if there are any clothes you are throwing out or recycling would you be able to snip the labels out for me and post them to me? i would pay of course......i know it sounds strange but dd2(5 months) is absolutely obsessed by labels and i looked at those taggie blankets you can but and was horrified to find out they werew £15...what a rip off for a bit of material and some labels!!! so decided to make my own with bit of flannelette sheet and labels.......thing is didnt get many from clothes we are throwing out/recycling and cant bear to cut then out of clothes as it makes me itchy!!!
well today.........have made two large sheperds pies, one for tea,one for freezer and two mini whizzed up ones for dd2,pureed pears for dd2...started to edge/hem bit of sheet for home made taggie blanket.have two loads of washing out on the line and am optimistic they'll dry-its cold and bit windy here but doesnt hugely look like rain.
also sorting through large pile of ebay items that seems to be taking up half of our bedroom
wish me luck for tomorrow night, have decided to bite the bullet and put dd's in bedroom together.....we are only 2 bed house so dd2 has been in with us so far but is waking me once or twice a night with chatting!! am hoping if we put them together(which obviously has to happen eventually anyway) then dd1 will just sleep through it.
aaarrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh had better go lets just say poo incident!!!! :eek:0 -

Lol - what a strange request....i'll see what I can do for you --- have you tried ribbon tho? or does he like to read the washing instructions? :rotfl:"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
This morning's weather has been windy and cold but I really needed to get some gardening done so risked the rain to do some digging.Well it rained twice but at least I had a tree to shelter under.I got one and a half rows of green manure dug in and a new runner bean trench dug so not bad.
OH's parcel finally turned up about 10 minutes ago so he'll be busy this weekend. He is learning to Weld(a neighbour is teaching him) and has bought himself a welding thingummy.
I had a letter from our LEA yesterday asking if the OFSTED inspector could come(more like, telling me when) so I emailed him to say no thanks. We have always said yes before but had quite a lot of trouble getting DS in to do his GCSE's (LEA wont fund home educators even though by law they must fund all under 16's) and then had to argue his case to get him in to college for his A's,so have decided...Blow the LEA! (They cant inspect unless you say you want them to ,as long as you can prove children are being educated).I feel quite bolshy now! Vive la revolution!
Tonights tea will most likely be HM Pizza.
Right off to do more digging as the weather seems quite sunny now and it'll warm me up.0 -
afternoon all
HM soup went down a storm last night (I had a couple of visitors up for tea) and I made a yummy spag bol too (having it for tea today as well and another 2 portions in the freezer) - it's amazing how full soup makes you for very little pennies indeed so I'm very glad we're getting into soup season again (now I just need to get my slow cooker).
I'm going to buy some lentils (tonight probably) - what colour are most useful do people find? I'd imagine brown or green are better in mince but they makes soup a funny colour- I'm not tremendously bothered by the colour of my food and I've no kids to impress so any thoughts would be appreciated
.
Has anyone seen Anacasta or Somerset Princess recently?
Take care allPre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
hey pooky,
i have tried ribbon.....didnt like it,thought maybe she likes the loop if you know what i mean so doubled ribbon over but she still hated it!!! only thing she seems to love is blinkin labels!!!!
ahhhh well at least she cant be the only one if they sell those little taggie things, apparently they are a best seller!!! i still cant believe it....£15 for a tiny square of material with labels around it!!!!
am very pleased this afternoon as i thought the sky was clouding over so got my washing in and only 3 little pairs of denim trousers and one pair of boxer shorts needed finishing off indoors, the rest was completely dry :j and best of all literally 5 seconds after i got it in it started chucking it down.....good timing or what :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon
Well cleaner came and was very impressed this week and happyThe extra time made all the difference and she said today that she will get more of a routine in the next couple of week and if she has spare time, she will do what she thinks I would like doing  Obviously knows me already
Also said that if I wanted her to a particular job just to let her know and she will cut back on another job.
Our freezer came and its HUGE  14.5 cubic feet. OH is now moaning as its out in his office/garage and he's in the middle of plasterboarding and shelving it out, then he's going to put his desk and computer put there. Moaning that its massive. He was the one who suggested the bigger freezer and its going to save us money in the long run.....tough titty....lol. He is just going to have to be more organised..lol....yeah....right
We have decided to treat ourselves to Fish & Chips tonight. OH & I will share a large cod & chips and DD will have battered sausage & chips. Had HM curry on jacket spud for lunch. Know its not very money saving....but its only £5.50 and sooooooooo scrummy...and better than most other take-aways....what the heck...live dangerously
So OH has picked DD up from school, then he has to go to B&Q (10% off everything ATM) and get some plaster, tile adhesive & bulb for vivarium (DD's tortoise)He's putting on 0% card and will pay in full when statement comes in, should be about £15-£20, but his mate is coming round in the morning to scim all the walls in the office and I suppose he needs the plaster to do it...lolTile adhesive is for the free floor tiles he was given for his office. Then on way home, he will pick up the fish and chips....might even have some bread and butter with it
Been saving up tea towels and whites last few days so will wash those in the morning and hopefully get on the line if weather dry. Just about to call the repair people about my Dyson Animal. Have had it for 3 years and luckily OH took 5 year cover (when we had money..lol) but its not picking up and OH has cleaned filters etc, hopefully they will sort it ASAP.
Promised DD that we will watch the last 2 episodes of Lost tonight, so may not be on later....but probably..lol. What did I do Pre-money saving???
Take Care All
