Has anyone had a demand from Optima Legal for monies owed to ITPLC.
If so what do you intend to do?
Counterclaim for Loss of servoce without warning?

I had the same demand sent to me about 2 weeks ago. I phoned them to query the amount they were demanding as it seemed rather high at over £60.
The person I spoke to said that this was an error and that in fact I owed them nothing at all and that I would get no further correspondence from them! So my final bill from ITPLC was zero and I did not argue with them about that!

I've not heard a thing from ITPLC, the liquidators, Optima Legal or indeed anyone since this whole farce began. My last direct debit payment to them was the 18th April, just one day after they went into liquidation. I am making the assumption that I will not be receiving any demands and in fact, I have probably paid advance line rental for a service I didn't receive. It appears the saga has now ended.

Is anyone out there still suffering grief over this affair?

After IT went bankrupt in spring last year, I signed up with Toucan and have been happy with their service. However, now that they are about to become part of the Pipex group, I don't want anything to do with them. Have been able to leave Toucan without penalty and have now signed up with the Post Office, which seems like a good deal.

    How good is the deal?
Since leaving it.plc I've been with BT, been a better deal than I expected. £10.50 with free calls evenings and weekends, free caller display and now free calls to 0845 0870 evenings and weekends.

Post Office Deal: Currently £10.72/month: includes free calls evening and weekend, plus free calls to uk/usa/canada mobiles and free international calls to 20 destinations all weekend (18.00 Friday to 06.00 Mondays). No extra for paper bills.

No extra charge for paying by other means that direct debit (card/cheque etc)

Additionally, there is no charge for caller display or anonymous call reject! The free international calls at weekends means I can call family in France, New Zealand and USA without even being charged a connection fee and can also call UK mobiles as well. I keep getting letters from BT trying to "entice" me back to them by offering free evening and weekend calls but this only lasts for 12 months after which you have to pay additional charges for the service!

Er, no. It continues f.o.c. until you withdraw your agreement to the renewable 12 month contract.

But it won't include those free international or mobile calls!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Whilst you cant call UK Mobiles this callthrough service, http://www.callsdiscount.com/uk is offering calls to many intl destinations via a geographical number 0203 347 3399,which means you can make calls for free using inclusive landline minutes.

I see the site can't even display the number correctly!! And they are a telco?

020 3347 3399 should be the correct way to display their number.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
