I am curious as to where the Toucan dissenters are going to go, with the imminent disconnection on the horizon and approx ten working days to change providers. If the threat of disconnection is genuine there is a possibility even now of loss of incoming service and broadband connection, resulting in a new connection charge and new telephone number...Unless of course you are not bothered!

    Hi Chalice,
How did BT get in touch with you about the end of month disconnection? I haven't heard anything. Although someone with an irish accent claiming to be from BT did ring a week ago. They asked how much we spend on calls a month, when I said about £2.00 he just put the phone down.

    Hi geoffW,

We received an answer phone message on the 1571 service from a lady called Sam. She left the message about disconnection if we didn't accept a new provider et cetera... @ 4:25 on the 9th May saying that she would naturally prefer us to return to BT and to ring 0800 800 030

That was my motivation to go to Toucan as the cheapest line provider. Following your message I chose to ring that number albeit rather late and the automated answer was definitely BT

With my internet ISP I have an internet phone giving us completely free calls to 01, 02 & 03 prefix numbers evenings & weekends & we each have 100's of cross network minutes on our mobiles going to waste each month plus with the basic £8.99 package we have taken with Toucan we also have free 01/02/03 numbers @ weekends but we probably won't even touch those.

I cannot see what the problem is with those objecting to Toucan as I believe that this is only a billing arrangement

Toucan was recently bought out by tiscali. For many that is "enough said".

Most of us that have now signed up with Toucan probably already knew that they are part of the Tiscali group but the only interest is the basic cheap line rental. Personally I am not bothered about their reputation for poor broadband customer service and do not expect to ever call them anyway! Having been with IT for the last 2 years, during that time I never had to call their customer services. £8.99 line rental, free calls at weekends and £10 call credit, enough said for me too!

Perhaps someone could enlighten me. Name me just one service provider, utility broker or otherwise, which doesn't have it's fair share of customer service critics. Those companies receiving the most complaints usually buck their ideas up when they find their business leaking away to their competitors.

We live in a fluid world where everything is constantly changing. If we don't like the service we receive, we just go somewhere else. We are the bosses. We are not tied into long contracts. If the provider fails to provide the promised service, they themselves are in breach of the contract enabling us to move away even earlier.

If anyone doesn't want to sign up to Toucan, they are free to sign up with whoever convinces them that they deliver the best service. Regardless of cost.

Do you mean that the above link gives contact numbers to call for Non-Toucan subscribers and the one posted by "will-in-estoril" (with the 0800 numbers) is for Toucan subscribers?
