Just means that their equipment is not in your exchange yet so you would be put onto the re-branded BT Connect service instead. The fact that it's saying you will be paying £17 per month also points to your exchange not being unbundled within the next x months.
You could give sales a call as depending on how well the agents are doing on targets you may be able to barter a discount in order to get you to sign to the BB.
  • Just to let you know, I get Sky family package at £17 a month and have AOL Broadband, also pay BT for my calls, so I decided to phone Sky and ask to be put on the Sky talk and broadband package at £26 a month, but when they checked my connection apparently I could only get the £17 broadband deal, anyway I told the sales lady that I wanted to cancel sky package due to the fact that I was paying to much out for what I receive (I’m on the internet every night, but only to check my e-mails and go on eBay and my two young girls play games on Cbeebies site). I was put through to cancellation and they offered me the same £17 deal broadband for £5, making my monthly cost for sky talk and broadband package at only £22, but to do this I was told to get my Mac code from AOL (I was told not to tell AOL why I wanted my Mac code) Sky asked me to ring back once I received the code to set up my package.

So I phoned AOL for my code and was directed to cancellation due to the fact that they wouldn’t give me my Mac code unless I was cancelling, so I told them that I wanted to move to Sky to receive the package deal.

AOL then offer me my current £15 a month deal for £9.99 a month for the first 6 months and then back to £14.99 thereafter, also 24 hours local free calls and to upgrade my half mg to 2mg.

Caught in the heat of the moment I told them they had a deal if they kept the £9.99 during my contract, which I hadn’t realised was a period of 18 months, not 12 months liked I had hoped.

So I took the contract up with AOL there and then, but unsure if it was the right decision, I have 5 days left ‘cooling off period’. I know I have a good deal but wondering if I’m making a mistake for the next 18 months, should I cancel and go with SKY?

We are use sky broadband. Were with BT but obviously £5 per month compared to the £24 we were paying before made the difference!
However, Sky does seem to cut out frequently, and is a pain in the ****, but I guess you get what you pay for?

Moved from Tiscali to Sky about a year ago.
So far they have been great, no problems, no down time and good speed.

I was with Sky and it was terrible. I wasn't on the MAX package but just the £17pm deal. I play games online (calm yourselves!! LOL) and my ping and frame rate scores were slower than they would hav been on dial-up broadband. This was despite all checks saying that I should get up to 4mb sppeds.

The customer service was terrible (all foriegn), and I had so much trouble that Sky let me leave, without penalty, 6 months into my contract.

It was appaling and I would never use them again. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the experience still sends a shudder down my spine lol........

You weren't on Sky equipment if you were paying that ammount you were on BT Connect. Oh and Sky BB tech support is not "all foreign".

The package I bought was from Sky and whatever the ins and outs of it, they sold me the service. Don't take offence at the 'all foriegn' part - It wasn't meant to be expensive, just my experience.

Every single one of my calls, (and I spent hours and hours and hours on a nightly basis trying to sort my problem out) certainly was. It's only once you get transfered from Tier 1 up to Tiers 2 and 3 that this changes as far as my experience can tell.

Might be wrong, but it is an honest account.
