I'm thinking of getting Sky package which includes phone and broadband and I was wondering what the broadband package is like and also what the phone package is like.:o
Sky Talk package depends on which one you have, the 'free' one or the £5 one.
The free one gets you inclusive evening and weekend calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers for up to 60 mins per call.
The £5 gives you inclusive daytime, evening and weekend calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers and some International numbers for up to 60 mins per call.
Phone packages are like any other phone package of the same offering.
You don't want to move your line rental however to Sky as they are increasing some of the costs of chargeable calls, at least if line rental is still with BT, you can pre-fix the call with 1280 and pass that call back over BT for the cheaper price and also use Call 1899 and Call 18185 for cheaper calls such as to mobiles.
For many people the broadband works fine, though setting up emails was a problem at one point. Unfortunately with ADSL, one persons experience will be completely different to another's as it is down to your physical line from your home to the exchange, which could take a completely different route to your neighbours.
You'll also need to check whether Sky have their broadband equipment in your exchange, as if they don't they have to re-sell a BT Wholesale product and this will cost more and likely not to get the same speeds.
Check out https://www.samknows.comIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Thanks BexTech, I know it sounds daft but if I use the 'free phone package' when I use the phone during the day what do I dial to use normal BT prices. If you know what I mean.:oApril grocery challenge week1 £39.91/£40:T week 2 £41.17 /£40 week 3 £41.96/£40 week 4 /£400

1280 is the code to place calls back over BT.
However you might want to also sign up to https://www.18185.co.uk and then dial 18185 before daytime landline calls, as they only charge 5p per call, no matter how long you are on the call for. Plus cheaper calls to mobiles and International.
With Sky Talk, calls are automatically routed to them, unless you pre-fix 1280 for BT to bill you or 18185 for 18185 to bill you etc. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I have finally done today and it is running fine. All I did is just swapped bt router for sky router and it works & I did not use sky CD. I am not using wireless connection at the moment having connected through ethernet, therefore I guess I do not have to worry about wireless security except for AV & firewall. Also does it matter which ethernet port you are connected as there are two on the router. I must say the sagem router does not look as sturdy like the bt one. Thanks0

Congratulations. Mine goes live with Sky tomorrow.
The Sky router already has the security set. It does not matter which ethernet port you are connected to.0 -
Hope yours goes well. I am a bit puzzled as I can still access my btyahoo icon on my desktop and my email and everything seems to be the same except I am paying less with sky £5 compared to £17.99 from bt. Also I was always exceeding my internet usage with bt and had to pay extra.0

Well if you have not removed it from your desktop, it will still be there! As it won't work now, you may as well delete it.
and my email and everything seems to be the same
If it is a BT e-mail account, you may not be able to access it soon, unless you keep it active by using dial-up every so often.

Very MSE! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
The BT yahoo link is just a shortcut to a URL which launches IE and pushes you to the BT/ Yahoo site. If they haven't closed your BT account down fully yet you will still be able to log in as normal to that page. Once BT catch up with their closed accounts you may find you can no longer log into the site or view/ send emails through it.0

Thanks, I guess my account is not fully closed. I just phoned this afternoon to make sure my broadband with bt has been cancelled. My internet connection is still showing btyahoo browser on the task bar. I thought I would have a sky icon on my desktop.0

The BTYahoo! branding/Icons won't go unless you remove them yourself, The same goes for any Sky Icons. In your first post you said you didn't use the Sky CD, So you won't get any Sky branded stuff on your pc
