Sky had just sent me a flyer saying that they have a freephone number for technical support on their broadband service. However, the flyer doesn't say what it is, does anybody know?

Probably because it doesn't exist,:rotfl: however thinking about it if you are a Sky Talk customer I think its free then. Dunno what the number is though.

Erm there isn't one, they are changing to new numbers though that are cheaper.0

Have just re-read the mail shot. From 1st July all calls to sky call centres are free to Sky Talk customers. I presume they will let us have the numbers in due course...0

I read you have to leave your sky router ten days when it is first activated. Is this correct? Can the computer be switched off leaving only the router on? Thanks.0
-
yep you can turn the computer off no problem at all.
Not sure where you have read that but it is possible
if you keep turning the router on and off the line will
train lower than it should and reduce your speed
think that only affects the "connect" package though
as thats just BT resold by Sky.0 -
i have had sky since april 1st..should i have left my router on? or did i read this wrong?0
-
This is to do with the 10 day training period whilst the router negotiates the most reliable connection speed with the exchange.
The training period is only applicable to those using the Sky Connect package, i.e the one that uses the BT network and costs around £17/month.
There is NO training period for the Base, Mid and Max packages which use the Sky/Easynet network.
Whether you leave your router on 24/7 or not is largely down to personal choice, although any firmware updates such as the one being rolled out to the Netgear (White) router happens in the small hours. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just leave it on 24/7, there is no point switching it off. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
